December 2018 In A Travelers Notebook | Days 7 to 9 PLUS A Gift For You!!!!!

Hello lovelies, today I am sharing my process video for Days 07-09 in my December Travelers Notebook! You can view my process video below, and I will share a few photos from these days with you as well.

Day 07 was a day I had the back of a patterned paper and the star vellum to begin my layout with. I printed a full page photo, layered journaling and the date (elements from Sahlin Studio Home For the Holidays collection), and I added a simple star + word sentiment onto the vellum. My story was about how we had purchased our tree a week ago and the lights + ornaments sat on the living room floor for days before we could decorate!

December 2018 In A Travelers Notebook | Days 7 to 9 PLUS A Gift For You!!!!!

Day 08 was the back side of the star vellum and my foundation pages I had created, also using the Home For the Holidays kit. I wrote a little more about our delays in decorating (ha!) and included a photo of the family in the living room, this time with the lights on the tree. I changed out my number so it was the right day. I also added the red felt heart from Ali Edwards and a tiny chipboard piece from Paislee Press.

Day 09 was all about our record snow fall in NC. We had probably over 18″ here, and it was so cold I really didn’t go out in it very much! So I created a photo collage with the Larkindesign Photo Templates I designed. You can still grab those for free via this link here.

This layout included a page protector that I had sewn into my notebook, so for this day I added a gold polka dot vellum. To the vellum I adhered a wreath die cut from Crate Paper, and on the back I added the gold puffy wreath and my number. The bow and number are from Felicity Jane.

I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for supporting Larkindesign and for being part of such an amazing community of creatives. This year has been a learning year for me, filled with lots of hard work behind the scenes, lots of tears, many wonderful friendships, and more determination going forward. I hope you will stay along for the ride, it’s going to be lots of fun.

To thank you I have created a free collection for you to help you tell your own stories from the month of December. This is a Traveler’s Notebook kit, a Embellishment kit, and a small collection of Journal Cards.

December Daily 2018 In A Travelers Notebook | Days 05 & 06

Larkindesign December Daily 2018 In A Travelers Notebook | Days 05 & 06

Hello Lovelies! Today I am sharing my Days 05 & 06 in my December Travelers Notebook! I will be sharing Days 03 & 04 very soon with you, as they are part of design team work I am submitting, so look for those days very soon. Of course you can find all of my videos from this project in the December Daily 2018 category. Check out my process video for today’s layouts here.

Day 05 was a somewhat frustrating day where nothing seemed to go right and it would have been easy to beat myself up and quite honestly hate on myself for not being perfect. And then my son missed his bus to get to his match for Academic League and I had the opportunity to show him extra love and compassion. I was reminded how we all need to show ourselves that same compassion when we mess up, and when things happen that are beyond our control. I began this page with one of the Larkindesign Travelers Notebook Photo Templates, which you are welcome to download here for your own projects for free!

Larkindesign Travelers Notebook Templates Vol 01 Mkt IMG

These templates make it so easy to type in your story, add a quick photo, and print. I actually used a photo from a few weeks ago, because the day was so crazy there was not much opportunity to take any photos. This is part of making the project work for you, right? Focus on the story and find a photo that supports your story well.

This layout had the star vellum transparency, which I believe is available at Michael’s or AC Moore. I love the back side which is white on white, so I added the number 5 in white on top. That number is from the Ali Edwards 2017 December Daily product offerings. I also added a tiny gold puffy star from Crate Paper Merry Days. The branch and tiny stars at the top of the photo repeat a tiny bit of gold on the layout. When you turn the vellum to the next page, the stars are gold, and the patterned paper is black on white from Merry Days as well. I have layered a Santa on top of the snowglobe/cloche puffy sticker. I love him so much!

Larkindesign December Daily 2018 In A Travelers Notebook | Days 05 & 06Day 06 was super quick and super simple. This is the center of my notebook so I used a full page photo and added a few digital elements before printing. One of the things in our family that brings me incredible joy is the relationship our two boys have. Nick and Addison are the best of friends and thin the world of each other. It always makes my heart skip a bit when I see them walking into their school together, chatting about all the things teenage boys chat about. So I snapped this photo quickly before leaving the drop off lane. I added my text in Photoshop along with the number six from the Sahlin Studio December Days No 04. The word strips are from Home For The Holidays. Once I adhered the layout into the notebook, I remembered I had some white stars from Ali Edwards, so I added those and the layout was complete.

Documenting December In A Traveler’s Notebook | Days 01 & 02!!!

Larkindesign Documenting December In A Traveler's Notebook | Days 01 & 02!!!

Hello Lovelies!!!! Today the real fun begins in the world of December Daily! I am so excited to begin filling the pages of my December Traveler’s Notebook, and today I am sharing my pages for Days 01 and 02! You can watch the process video here.

One of my favorite things about this project is that you just never know, year to year, what stories will be told and what experiences will be had. This year Alan wanted to go see some hockey so that is what we did on the very first day of December! I used to go to hockey games a long time ago, so it wasn’t too foreign to me, but our kids had never been. I think everyone had a great time!

Larkindesign Documenting December In A Traveler's Notebook | Days 01 & 02!!! I added this into my notebook much like I would have added any other event. I decided to print a full page photo of the hockey arena itself, and then I printed photos of the kids and of Alan and me.

Larkindesign Documenting December In A Traveler's Notebook | Days 01 & 02!!! I added one of the Ali Edwards transparencies here using washi tape to both seal the transparency into place and also to hide the punched holes. This transparency reminded me of hockey pucks with the white/gold circles, and I layered the number circle on top. For the photos of us, I simply stacked them on the left side and added a chipboard word strip between the two.

Larkindesign Documenting December In A Traveler's Notebook | Days 01 & 02!!! I added my journaling for this page at the bottom and added another chipboard sticker in the corner. For the large photo on the right side, I simply stamped Cheers onto a red label and placed that at the top of my photo. This is such a very simple approach and it works beautifully!

Larkindesign Documenting December In A Traveler's Notebook | Days 01 & 02!!! For Day 02, our story was all about going to pick out our Christmas tree. Now this year in NC it has been so rainy, and while I am not one bit complaining, it made this a somewhat muddy adventure. We waited until rain subsided and braved the mud pits to find the perfect one! Also Alan found the one this year, so all of this makes our story all together.

Larkindesign Documenting December In A Traveler's Notebook | Days 01 & 02!!!

I selected several photos again to help tell this story and have used a Photo Template to lay out the photos on the right side of the layout. These are templates I released earlier this year, and if you are interested in having them, you can download them here for free! Simply click on the image and it will ask you to check out, then you will receive a link to download the templates.

You can see how I used the template to create a photo collage of three photos below. The main photo in the collage is of our kiddos and the smaller, supporting photos are of some of the muddy situation we were in. Ha! I also added text using Photoshop, and printed the entire page out. I left a bit of room for a stamped sentiment at the top and added a tiny little pink star.

Larkindesign Documenting December In A Traveler's Notebook | Days 01 & 02!!!

This is such a great way to include more photos!

Larkindesign Documenting December In A Traveler's Notebook | Days 01 & 02!!!

This particular layout had a transparency already sewn in, so I added my number tag and a tiny branch. The number tag is from Dear Lizzy and the branch is Crate Paper. I used my Tiny Attacher to adhere them to the page.

Larkindesign Documenting December In A Traveler's Notebook | Days 01 & 02!!!If you watched the process video then you saw how this side of the layout became my most indecisive moment of scrapbooking EVER! Ha! I must have pulled that photo up 31 times to get it where it needed to be. In the end I love it. This is Alan telling me this is the one, pointing at it and grinning. I added the gold banner and then did a cluster of embellishments below the photo.

Larkindesign Documenting December In A Traveler's Notebook | Days 01 & 02!!!Thank you for joining me today! I hope you will take advantage of the free photo templates and let me know if you use them in your own projects! I would love to see!

Documenting December In A Traveler’s Notebook | November Layouts!!!

Larkindesign Documenting December In A Traveler's Notebook | November Layouts!!!

Hello Lovelies and Happy December to you all! The first of this month is always one of the best days of the year because I am so excited to begin documenting, photographing, and experiencing all the magic of this season. To inspire you today I have two layouts in my December Traveler’s Notebook! You can see the process video here.

I often read and see where artists wonder if they can include events and memories outside of December in their December Daily albums, and the answer is absolutely YES! These are two layouts I am including that happened in November. Make this project work for you and include anything you wish.

Larkindesign Documenting December In A Traveler's Notebook | November Layouts!!!

I wanted to be sure and include at least one photo of me and my husband, Alan, in the beginning pages, since we weren’t in the family photo already. These two photos were taken in early November. This page was a foundation page I had already created for Sahlin Studio, so finishing it up was a breeze.

Larkindesign Documenting December In A Traveler's Notebook | November Layouts!!!

Really all I had to do was print out my photos and add a bit of journaling. I also covered up the number, since this day isn’t going to need a number. I had a great vertical space for photos on this layout, so I placed two square photos into a canvas in Photoshop and printed them as one collage. I added very simple journaling onto the label as well.

Larkindesign Documenting December In A Traveler's Notebook | November Layouts!!!

In November we also went to see The Grinch movie, which is always a holiday favorite. It just had to be included! I had two photos, one square and one horizontal, so I placed them on the layout opposite of each other and then filled in spaces around. I took cues from The Grinch song and stamped 25s onto the right hand side for a background. I have used a journaling card from Paislee Press layered with a chipboard piece on top of a square photo. Natalie wanted to pose with her Grinch face, how cute!!

For the right side I created my title using a second number stamp set plus Studio Calico alphabet stickers. The space in between title and photo were perfect for my journaling.
