Hi guys! Today I am sharing my process for Layout 07 in our Bermuda Honeymoon album, called Destiny! I am using the April Documenter kit from Studio Calico called Written in the Stars, and you guys, it is lovely.
Here is a look at the full layout:
I have to admit that the Documenter kit really helped me develop more of the story on this layout, and for that I am so happy! I ran with the theme of Destiny, as in it was our destiny to find each other and begin a new life together, and it was our destiny to be in Bermuda for our honeymoon. Love it!
Continuing my design concept for this album: using soft, muted colors and simple embellishing to allow the beauty of the photos to shine.
These are photos from the inside of the hotel lobby, and I am so glad I took these!
These are the last of the photos from around the hotel, so in my next video we will begin exploring the island! I can’t wait for you to join me for that!
Thanks so much for joining me today! See you back here again soon!
Hi guys, today I am sharing the next layout in my Bermuda Honeymoon album! I am using the Dear Lizzy Lovely Day collection and I think you will be totally inspired watching!!!
For today’s layout I am continuing our journey around the hotel, including just a few more photos especially of this particular architectural element by the hotel’s hot tub.
As I was shopping my kit for different elements to use, I realized I was going for lots of Dear Lizzy Lovely Day products, so I went and grabbed the whole collection to use. It was definitely a good choice!
The photos were my base for the layout, and then I filled the remaining pockets with cards from the cut apart sheets that were part of Lovely Day. I always go ahead and cut those apart when I get them so they are easier to use when I am ready.
Remember the gazebo that was built over the water? This is the view from that gazebo. Absolutely fabulous view there. I am loving these pastels and how well they compliment all these views.
The opposite side is a Becky Higgins Design D page protector for two vertical photos. It has been cut down to fit in the album. Once the photos were in place I had a column of horizontal 3×4 pockets, which is a size I don’t normally work with. I had fun with them – I started with one patterned paper for a very neutral background which is a very old exclusive from Gossamer Blue, and then layered elements on top.
Thank you for joining me today! See you back here again soon!
Hi guys, today I am sharing the next layout in my Bermuda honeymoon album with you! Products I am using are a combination of Amy Tangerine plus Crate Paper Oasis!
Here is the full layout. I still had more photos from around the hotel I wanted to include in this album, so those are my jumping off point for the layout.
The left hand side is a divided pocket page made of 3×3 squares that were begging for another full size photo. This amazing gazebo was built over the water on the hotel property and was simply magical! The only embellishment I added were the transparency card from Dear Lizzy Saturday and the gold hearts from Pink Paislee Take Me Away.
The pinks and corals from the photos are what drove my decisions for selecting the journal cards, and all of Amy Tangerine’s collections use those colors so beautifully! I added just a few embellishments from Crate Paper Oasis as well, and they coordinate perfectly!
My journaling focuses on how excited we were to get away by ourselves for a few days. It doesn’t happen often, with four kiddos and my parents being gone and his parents being far away. So this was incredibly special to us!
The only card that is not from Amy Tangerine is the middle striped card, which is Dear Lizzy. It ties in all the colors of the layout and provides easy journaling lines, so it’s a win-win!
Thanks so much for following along today! See you soon!
Hi guys, today I am sharing the next layout in my Bermuda album with you! I am working with more photos from around our hotel, Grotto Bay, and am using some of the journal cards that were offered as a thank you for completing my survey!
Here is a look at my completed layout:
One of my goals in this album is to include enlarged photos and/or traditional layouts, and this layout wins with a large photo on the right hand side! This photo has my heart because of the beautiful colors. I just want to stand right there forever.
This was the path from the common areas of the hotel back to our rooms. I absolutely adore the architecture juxtaposed against the crystal blue sky. The embellishing is minimal, only a label cut in half plus an arrow and a rubber flower piece.
The left hand side includes more of our photos of the scenery. The journal cards are from the Survey printables and also from Studio Calico.
I journaled in my own handwriting on this layout. For one thing, I am lazy and just want to get the layouts done and want to worry about other details on the layouts. Wait, that was three things! I know some people struggle with seeing their handwriting on their layouts, and I will say that it is never too late to work on bettering your writing, if you feel like you want to. But I also feel that handwriting is a lot like any other artistic endeavor – yes it looks weird on the page because it is yours, and yes we are more critical of ourselves than of others. Do it anyway!
This may be my favorite photo from our entire trip (hey, it’s a new game- have a drink every time I say that throughout this project!). All of these photos are taken from one spot at the top of the stairs down to the swimming pool and beach. All around us such beauty. Sigh.
Thank you so much for following along with me today! See you again soon!
Hi guys! Today I am shopping my stash so I can use all the fun products I have been saving for the Bermuda Honeymoon album! This is an important part for me to inspire me to use my products and I hope you will find some good tips too!
Just a little programming note: Next week is Spring Break for our kiddos and so I will be taking the week off to spend time and love on them a bit! You will still hear from me and I have something fun planned while I am away. See you back here again soon!
