December Album 2016

{December Daily 2016} December 13

Hello and welcome to December 13 in my 2016 December Daily album! But first I need to catch up from yesterday and share my photos from December 12. This is how the layout began as a foundation page:

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 13

And here is the completed layout, with photos and journaling, of December 12:

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 12

My photo and story from this day are about the holiday baking that we love to do every year! On this day we made the house favorite – thumbprints with Hershey kisses inside. This is a photo taken when they were all done and the kids were stuffing their faces with them. Oh the silliness!

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 12

I embossed one of the wood banners from the Freckled Fawn December kit, using American Crafts red embossing powder and one of the Ali Edwards stamps. For my date card I added a number circle from Sahlin Studio, a cork tree from Freckled Fawn, and washi tape from Amy Tangerine.

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 12

For my journaling I layered a shipping tag on top of this bold text pattern, also from the Ali Edwards main kit this year. Ephemera is from the Fancy Pants Golden Days collection.

Now to share the 13th with you! This is my layout for that day:

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 13

I selected two photos from our evening of driving through the park at Tanglewood to see the lights. My favorite shots are of the arches overhead, and this one is a winner.

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 13

The number 13 are from Ali Edwards’ website and for today I have simply left them floating in the pocket. I may add something tomorrow. The filler card is also from the Ali Edwards main kit and layered on top is this lovely word transparency from a UK-based company called Docrafts. They were sent to me by Lynn Scott, thank you dear friend! They are gorgeous!!!

My journaling card (from the Ali Edwards main kit) is embellished with two washi tapes from Amy Tangerine. I also added this second photo of the giant Santa in the light show. He is so fun!

{December Daily 2016} December 11 In Which I Actually Have Two Stories!

Hi there and welcome to December 11 in my 2016 December Daily! I actually included two stories for this day – I know, I know, only choose one story, they say, but one story really isn’t complete without the back story. So have a look at my process here:

This is how my layout looked as a foundation page:

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 11 In Which I Actually Have Two Stories!

And here is my completed layout, including the back of the insert from December 10:

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 11 In Which I Actually Have Two Stories!

The first story goes a little something like this: Since Alan returned from Germany we have been running and running. On our way to Target for the third time in three days, he commented how he had been to so many stores and he listed out all the things we had done! I really got to thinking that this had to be included in today’s layout, so I created this to adhere to the back of my insert.

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 11 In Which I Actually Have Two Stories!

To create this side of the insert, I opened the December Stories 6×8 template No. 2, which is available as a Photoshop PSD here: Ali Edwards shop. (Link opens in a new window) Since my canvas size is 4.5×9, I added another text box at the bottom to accommodate my journaling beneath the photo. I also added the green wood tree from Target and the deer head clip from Freckled Fawn.

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 11

To complete the layout, I also added photos of Addison and Natalie decorating the tree itself. It seriously took us three days (!!!) to get to the point where we could add the ornaments, so that is exactly what we did at 8:15 last night.

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 11

My foundation pages for this layout were created using Tori Bissell’s beautiful collection of journaling cards which are available at her blog here: Tori Bissell blog.

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 11

The last card includes my final journaling which sort of ties the whole layout together. One of my favorite things every year is bringing out all the ornaments and telling all the stories that go along with those ornaments. There are so many ornaments that are really special to me and that represent some special people in our lives. I love sharing these stories with our children, and I especially love seeing their eyes light up when the familiar things are brought back out.

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 11

I am still loving the pops of red across this layout, and to carry it onto this card I simply added my journaling lines in red ink. Here is a look at the layout in the album itself:

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 11

I do love this project so much! This is the half-way mark for me, and I am thrilled at the progress being made. I am especially delighted with the memories and the reflections and the laughs I have documented in these pages. Merry December to you!

{December Daily 2016} December 10!

Hello and welcome to December 10 in my 2016 December Daily album! Today I am sharing the story + photos of going to get our Christmas tree, which always is the official start of the season for me. Have a look at my process!

This is how the layout looked when I completed my foundation pages. The products I am using are courtesy of Tori Bissell and can be downloaded (for free!!!) here: Tori Bissell printables.

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 10!

This is the layout for the 10th completed!

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 10!

I began with this enlarged photo which ended up measuring 9×4.5″. I used the white space for my journaling, added the rubber embellishment from the Paislee Press mini kit, and added a ribbon tab which was from Target last year.

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 10!

For the filler card I had created this card using one of the pattern papers included in Tori’s collection, and then layered a transparency over top that came from Pinkfresh Studio Oh Joy. The only thing I did to it here was add a tiny washi strip from Amy Tangerine.

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 10!

My second photo is of our kids while we were making our selection. This photo is one of my traditions – I make a point every year to snap a photo like this so we can compare from year to year. Love this so much!

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 10!

The middle pocket was created during my foundation stage and features a cut up transparency from Ali Edwards. This transparency was a purchase promotion available to the first people who pre-ordered the main kit way back in September. I know some people have been looking for it, and so that is the story behind. After I cut up the transparency, I layered my embellishments on top of the pocket.

See you back here tomorrow!

{December Daily 2016} December 8 & 9 and Finishing December 1!

Hi there and happy Saturday to you! I have a full blog post to share with you today so first have a look at my process video for December 8 and 8, plus finishing up the first:

So if you remember my layout for December 1, I left the left side of the layout unfinished. At the time I was wanting to share photos of the decorated house, which did not happen. Well, Alan returned from Germany and brought some awesome paper products and they fit in this spot perfectly. Here is what I added:

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 8 %26 9 and Finishing December 1!

I absolutely love this postcard from Heidelberg. I did have to cut it down just a tiny bit in order to fit in the pocket.

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 8 %26 9 and Finishing December 1!

The brochure from Kathe Wohlfahrt is bound into the album using clear tabs from We R Memory Keepers. I love that all the text is German!

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 8 %26 9 and Finishing December 1!

He also had a shopping bag from the Kaufhof, which I cut down so it wasn’t quite so bulky. This is how the layout looks in the album across from December 1:

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 8 %26 9 and Finishing December 1!

Now onto December 8 & 9! This is what this these days lookedlike as foundation pages:

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 8 %26 9 and Finishing December 1!

December 8 is all about Natalie’s chorus performance at school. I created a flip pocket so I would have space for two photos and my journaling.

The flip is held in place via washi tape. I added this cute little wood veneer word that is from an older Basic Grey collection.

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 8 %26 9 and Finishing December 1!

When you lift the photo you find my journaling and the second photo.

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 8 %26 9 and Finishing December 1!

Alan brought home these beautiful embossed tags from Germany, so I added one of the trees to the top card. The chipboard 8, from the Ali Edwards main kit last year, is simply adhered to the diagonal card.

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 8 %26 9 and Finishing December 1!

Here is the layout in the album itself:

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 8 %26 9 and Finishing December 1!

For December 9 I wrote about Alan being back home and included a photo we took while we were leaving to go out and about for the day.

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 8 %26 9 and Finishing December 1!

This layout has the 2×2 pockets that I have layered with transparency and embellishments, so not a lot more was needed. The photo stands on its own.

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 8 %26 9 and Finishing December 1!

The journaling card is one from the Ali Edwards main kit from 2015, but I have recolored it from a sandy cream to this red. I love all the red that carries across this layout! I also added the wood number 9, which is from the Dear Lizzy Saturday collection.

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 8 %26 9 and Finishing December 1!

This is how this layout looks in the album:

See you back here tomorrow!
