{December Daily 2016} December 7 A Letter to Myself

Hello and welcome to December 7 in my 2016 December Daily! For this day I decided to write a letter to myself, have a look at my process:

This is how the layout looked as a foundation page:

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 7 A Letter to Myself

I took a quick photo of myself just while I was making the bed yesterday and included that, along with my letter.

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 7 A Letter to Myself

The photo was taken at the foot of my bed with my iPhone, which I propped up inside the TV cabinet. There was a lot of light flooding in from the sun, so the photo is washed out and has lots of technical issues. But I really like it and I also completely believe in using photos that help us tell our story, perfect or not.

One of the 3×4 pockets was already completed during the foundation pages, with the wood number 7 from Dear Lizzy and a stamp from Paislee Press. For the see-through pocket I punched a few vellum circles and sealed them in place with washi tape.

My journaling is an open, validating letter to myself about the trip and how I came to some really awesome realizations along the way. As hard as it was, the trip gave me a really wonderful gift, right at a very crucial time when I needed it.

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 7 A Letter to Myself

This year has been all about learning some really hard things about myself that have made me feel un-lovable, to be quite honest. I didn’t realize how hard I was taking things until I sat in my therapist office and talked to her about Alan making the trek down to Heidelberg just for me. My words were, I can’t believe he loved me enough to do that, and her words were, You are lovable enough for him to do that. And things really clicked for me.

I am so thankful for this time to reflect, and so thankful for this project to give me a space to write those reflections. For me, this December, I will be celebrating this wonderful gift: I have this wonderful husband who loves me that much, and I am that lovable. These are the best reasons of all to celebrate, my friends.

I do hope you have these kind of wonderful reasons too. You are that lovable, too, and I hope your holiday is surrounded by those who love you that much. Merry December to you. See you on Saturday.

{December 2016} December 6

Hello and welcome to December 6 in my 2016 December Daily! Today I am sharing photos and the story of my cozy front door. Have a look at my process here:

This is the layout before I began today, in its foundation state:

“/>

And here is the layout complete with photos and journaling:

Larkindesign {December 2016} December 6

I began with three photos taken after we hung our garlands on the front of the house. These are one of my favorite things to put up every year! I just love lights!

Larkindesign {December 2016} December 6

I stamped my journaling lines onto the cozy card using the stamp set from the Paislee Press mini kit. What a happy little card!

Larkindesign {December 2016} December 6

The gold foil transparency was part of the cut-apart sheet from Pinkfresh Studio Oh Joy collection. Since I had some pieces from the back showing through, I decided to cover it up with the present ephemera from the same collection. This photo was taken at night with the lights fully lit.

Larkindesign {December 2016} December 6

The number 6 tag is from last year’s Ali Edwards main kit, but I have cut it down smaller to fit in the 3×4 pocket, and added a brad and washi tape from My Mind’s Eye, and a small stamped sentiment from the Paislee Press stamp set.

That is all for today! See you back here tomorrow!

{December Daily 2016} December 5

Hi there! Welcome to December 5 in my 2016 December Daily! Have a look at my process today:

My story today is about a plate rack that I have in my home and a certain funny series of text messages regarding that plate rack with my husband. This is the layout in its foundation stage:

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 5

This is the completed layout:

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 5

My layout began with a photo of my plate rack that I took a little time to rearrange and decorate for the holidays. This plate rack came from my Mom who many years ago decorated with her own dinnerware and holiday dishes. I love carrying on this special tradition.

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 5

To create this image I used one of the journaling templates included in Sahlin Studio Photojournal set called Magazine. That set can be purchased through this link: Sahlin Studio at The Lilypad.

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 5

For the pockets I printed out the series of text messages I sent Alan bemoaning the lack of turquoise plates in our cabinets.

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 5

All of the journaling cards are from Sahlin Studio Oh What Fun collection available at The Lilypad. This silver foil transparency is from the Pinkfresh Studio Oh Joy collection.

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 5

I decided to number the texts so you could easily tell which order to read them in (hopefully!) and it turned out I used these wood trees from Target and the number stickers from the Paislee Press mini kit.

And here is one more look at the layout in the album itself:

Thanks so much for following along! I will see you back here tomorrow!

{December Daily 2016} December 3 & 4

Hi there, today I am sharing December 3 and 4 in my December Daily 2016! I am playing a bit of catch-up today after taking yesterday off from video and social media so I could spend some time with my kids! Have a look at my process for these two days:

Ok, Day 3 began like this in the foundation stage:

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 3 %26 4

My story for this day was how my dear husband travelled to Heidelberg just to go to a very special store for me. When I was growing up in Germany we had a family tradition of visiting what was then called the Christkindlmarkt, now Kathe Wohlfahrt. For many years our tree was decorated with the hand-painted ornaments that we collected from that store.

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 3 %26 4

Alan sent me some really awesome photos so I created an insert to be able to include the ones I wanted.

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 3 %26 4

This photo of the waterfront easily became the anchor for the whole layout. Look at that gorgeous sky, and the city hugging the side of the mountain!

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 3 %26 4

The other two photos are of store displays – one of the gorgeous Christmas tree, and the other one of some of their amazing cuckoo clocks. The number 3 from Ali Edwards is layered on top of the wreath from the Freckled Fawn Very Merry kit.

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 3 %26 4

On the front of the insert I included this hilarious selfie Alan sent. The Be Merry underneath fits perfect with his moose-friend.

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 3 %26 4

Underneath that is the photo of the storefront. Alan said this was most definitely a child’s wonderland!

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 3 %26 4

I used the Dear Santa card from the Paislee Press mini kit to write down, literally what my wish list is. I only wanted something from Kathe Wohlfahrt and some yummy food from a German grocery store! Check out those amazing truffles!

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 3 %26 4

I included this beautiful photo of the sunshine streaming into the street. I so remember and love those cobblestone streets!

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 3 %26 4

This is the Foundation Page for December 4:

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 3 %26 4

The story for this day actually happened on Saturday (the day before), but it is totally ok to use that story here. The kids and I went to downtown Kernersville for Christmas Around the World.

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 3 %26 4

I kept the tinsel card the same except for adding the glitter stars from Freckled Fawn. Since my journaling is on my photo I didn’t need the journaling space here.

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 3 %26 4

I gold-embossed the back of the number 3 and the number 4 is layered on top of plain white cardstock with a stamped sentiment and vellum floral from Sahlin Studio Oh What Fun.

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 3 %26 4

Our favorite cupcake shop has CAKE painted on the parking spaces outside their building, so we had to grab a snap of our feet right there. I also added a photo insert for this layout.

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 3 %26 4

I created this simple insert in Photoshop by layering photo, journaling, photo frame, and just a few embellishments around the page. All of the digital elements are from Sahlin Studio Oh What Fun!

Thank you so much for following along! See you back here tomorrow!

{December Daily 2016} December 2 Documenting Days with no Particular Event

Hi there, today I am sharing December 2 in my 2016 December Daily album. Have a look at my process here:

Here is the layout in the foundation page portion of the project:

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 3 Documenting Days with no Particular Event

This is the completed layout for Day 2 here:

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 3 Documenting Days with no Particular Event

I switched out the top card since I didn’t need space for journaling today. Simple white cardstock with embellishments from Freckled Fawn are layered on top of washi from the Paislee Press mini kit.

https%3A%2F%2Fyoutu.be%2FIpjF2ef2t38%2FIpjF2ef2t38

My photo is from our mini photoshoot we did on Thanksgiving. I have decided to use several of these photos throughout the album for those days when there is no particular event or thing going on. My journaling is the story, however, about how thankful I am for this man and for our beautiful family.

Larkindesign {December Daily 2016} December 3

My journaling is on the photo using a layered template from Sahlin Studio. The template is available here: The Lilypad

That is all for today! Thank you for following along with me on this journey!
