Hi everybody, today I am sharing my process for Day 04 in my 2017 December Daily! My story for the day is about putting up the tree so early, the earliest I have ever done it. I started by printing my photos using templates from Paislee Press, and my Foundation Pages were created using Sahlin Studio December.
This is the layout as a foundation page:
And here is the completed layout:
Just a few details: the vellum is a patterned paper from the December collection printed on a Draft setting. My journaling was added in Photoshop by creating a circle path and placing the text within the path. Very quick and simple!
Hi everyone! In this process video I am sharing my layout for Day 02 in my 2017 December Daily album. My story for this day is event-based – a fun trip downtown Kernersville for Christmas Around the World. I am using products from Ali Edwards Main Kit, the Paislee Press Mini Kit, and a few found items! Watch my process for Day 02 here:
This is how my foundation pages looked:
Our story for the day was about visiting downtown Kernersville for Christmas Around the World. This is a day where all the shops open up for food, shopping, and good fun. They give the kids passports to get stamped at each shop, and of course they loved all the food!
Here is the layout inside the album:
A detail of the flip-photo:
And the full page photo:
The insert for Day 02 is a found object from one of the shops downtown called Jane. It’s a vintage letterboard star that I cut down a little and punched. I also found the little Santa ornament and added a tiny tassel from Crate Paper Snow and Cocoa. He will most likely live on the outside of the album, but for today he is part of this layout. He is so cute!
Have a look at my video for Day 03:
This is what the Foundation Page looked like for this day:
Today’s story is about decorating our home for the holidays. I had a few photos from decorating the outside of the house, and I wanted to be sure to document how we shopped on Black Friday for our newest decorations this year.
I wanted to play with the star die that was part of the December Daily Release from Ali Edwards this year. I had this sheet of glitter card stock from Hobby Lobby, so I cut it down to 5.5″x8.5″ and ran it through my Evolution die cutter several times. I then carefully snipped one of the tiny stars apart from the rest and filled in some of the spots with the die. I also added just two tiny word stickers. They are from the Paislee Press mini kit.
The photos are both on the right hand side, along with my journaling about finding our new decorations on Black Friday. I have never gone out on Black Friday before this year! The number 3 I have just left floating in the pocket.
That is all for today! I anticipate going back to daily posts as I am able. See you tomorrow!
Hi everyone and Merry December to you!!!! Today I have TWO lovely videos to share with you! First up is a complete walk-through of my December Daily Album Foundation Pages as they are on December One. After that we will dive right in with my process for Day 01!
And now for Day 01! I am so happy to dive right in:
Here is what Day 01 looked like as I began my process:
For December 01 I decided to share photos of our family. These are photos we took in late November, and I always like to do this and include them in my album right here at the beginning. This establishes the beginning of the December Story: who we are and where we are at this moment in time.
My Foundation Pages began with Ali Edwards journal cards + a patterned paper from Crate Paper Falala. I added just a few tiny embellishments to the photo as a starting point.
My journaling is typed on the journal card using my vintage Smith Corona. I love the perfectly imperfect look and the messy lines!
For the full page I wanted to layer the photo of just Alan and myself over the gesso and patterned paper. I added a few embellishments and a stamped sentiment, and the page is complete.
Have you been able to document your Day 01? I would love to see! My plan for this month is to share every other day, so I will see you right back here on the 4th!

Hi everyone! Today I am finally able to share with you my process video for creating my December Daily album! One of my favorite parts of this project is making the album my very own. This year I am using the Simple Stories Merry album, along with a few embellishments from Felicity Jane and the number stickers from the Paislee Press mini kit.
Here is a closer look at my album:
I chose this album because it has a great spine size so hopefully all my pages will fit in as the month of December goes along. I also love that it has a darker pattern on it, which will show through just the tiniest bit once it is gessoed.
I applied two coats of gesso using a really old, textured brush to get as many brush strokes as possible. I apply the gesso really randomly and heavily, but even so the pattern underneath shows through just the tiniest bit.
I made sure to leave just snowflakes on the front showing through, so they are only covered with one coat of paint. Once everything was dry I added a few of the Felicity Jane patches using my hot glue gun. The date is added directly to the label holder on the spine with the Paislee Press numbers in that mini kit.
Ah, this is just perfection. Thanks for joining me today!
Hi everyone! Today I am sharing my last set of foundation pages in my 2017 December Daily Album! These were created using Felicity Jane Joy and a tiny bit of Hello Christmas from last year.
These are my foundation pages for Days 8, 20, 22, and 23.
Can you even believe how beautiful this black and white floral pattern is?! I am determined to use it rather than stash it away, so I cut it immediately and put it in the album. That first cut is the hardest, isn’t it?!
The vellum I chose for this day is just 6″ wide, so slightly shorter than the page protectors. I added a 2″ Avery tab and heat embossed the Be Merry sentiment so it is easier to turn that page.
For Days 22 and 23 I created a 2×2 pocket page using some of the tiniest embellishments to fill the pockets. The embellishments are also black and white, along with a few cork trees from Freckled Fawn and the black and white sequins from Teresa Collins. The simplicity is really striking – I love those page protectors most with the tiny embellishments!
My plan for Day 22 is to include the transparency directly over the photo as an overlay. The number is not adhered yet so it could go above or below the word, depending on how the photo is for that day.
That is the last in my foundation building series! I still have a final walk-through to share with you, plus I want to share how I created the album itself. Stay tuned!
