Hello Lovelies! I am here today with another layout from my 2018 December Daily album for Days 14 and 15. If you’d like to see all the posts in this series I invite you to check it all out here: Larkindesign December Daily 2018. Here is my full process video for today’s layout.
Let’s take a closer look at these fun pages in my 2018 December Daily album!
For Day 14 I had a photo of our Christmas tree. This is a detail photo that is taken from my perspective on the living room sofa. I love the twinkle of the lights and the detail captured in this photo! I have chosen to use products from Felicity Jane in this layout. These are kits from the past two or three years, Holly, Joy, and Hello Christmas.
My photo is a bit dark and dramatic, so it was important to me to keep the rest of the layout light, while still incorporating the black and white theme I have going. For my photo I layered a green branch with a red chipboard circle.
Underneath the photo is a 4×6 journal card that I created with the black and white floral. I adhered a graph paper 3×4 card and the Holly girl on top, and then added my journaling. I also stamped the magic and the stars as well.
Here you can see how I added my date: I cut the star transparency in half and then layered a shipping tag on top. I stamped the day number and added the 14 with the puffy stickers, and tied a little bow using red twine.
On the back I added the number 15, and then attached both tags with my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher.
Day 15 was just a few photos of my wearing my favorite Santa hat, the pink one. I have continued the black and white with red and a bit of green as well here.
For this page I had (4) 3×4 pockets, so I decided to use two of the photos and two journal cards, alternating. I chose the pretty wreath here at the top and added a tiny rubber word strip at the bottom. I added a simple chipboard banner to the top of my photo here as well.
I used the diagonal stripe card for my journaling below. I layered the silver heart and the label on top of the stripe for a bit of embellishing, so simple. I then added a tiny half circle chipboard to the bottom of my second photo.
These layouts bring me so much joy every year! I am so very happy to share them with you and thank you for joining me! See you again soon!
Hello Lovelies and welcome back to my December Daily Summer Series! Today I am so excited to participate in a YouTube Hop called the Crafty Christmas In July Hop, which is hosted by the every fabulous Heather Little. There are so many amazing ladies participating and I hope you will check out all of them through the links provided below. Each crafty lady will be sharing one layout per week throughout the month, and today I am sharing a layout from my December Daily 2018 for Days 12 and 13. Check out all the posts for this project here: Larkindesign December Daily 2018.
I am so excited to continue in my December Daily album and am starting to get a good feel for how the album is coming together. There is definitely a red, black, and white theme going! Let’s have a good look!
Days 12 and 13 are both included on the same layout, so it makes sense to complete the layouts at one time and that helps to make them flow visually. This is one definite advantage of creating your album after the fact! I had a 3.5x.3×5 photo for Day 12, and a 4×6 photo for Day 13, and that left a few pockets to fill.
I also wanted to add a divider in between these two pages, so the two days will feel like their own page in the album. I chose the red 3×8 transparency from last year’s December Daily add-ons from Ali Edwards and used that transparency as a home for the day numbers. You can see the tiny woodgrain 12 at the top!
For this side I had (2) 3×4 pockets, so I am repeated the red with the hexagon rubber shape, I am including the rose gold with the handwritten December card, and I used a black and white card as a filler as well. This is the color palette for this page and I am loving keeping it very small.
For the bottom 4×6 pocket I began with the photo and layered it on top of a 4×6 red card. I needed a bit of space for journaling, so I cut up one of the Paislee Press journal cards to fit in the space left by the photo. I added a bit of journaling about how giant the snow piles were in the Target parking lot! I also clipped a little heart paper clip from Felicity Jane and added a red banner to my photo.
My story for Day 13 is about the stockings we put together every year. I absolutely love the stockings we do every year, filled with so much candy and treats and little fun finds! I photographed the giant heap of supplies we had bought before we wrapped it all and used this as my photo for this day.
You can see the Number 13 at the top, on the back of the transparency. This number is from Sahlin Studio. She does an amazing pack of digital number sets every year so if you are looking for some great options for numbers, go check them out at The Lilypad!
I kept the photo very simple and only added the Crate Paper banner in the center of the photo. For my 4×6 pocket I used the geometric wreath card from Paislee Press. This is one of my favorites from all of the product released last year! I added the Santa chipboard inside the wreath, and stamped lines across the bottom for my journaling.
Thanks so much for joining me today! I want to share all the names of all the crafty ladies who are participating in the Hop this month:
Hello Lovelies and welcome back #scrappychristmasinjuly!!!!! I am so excited to be back working on my December Daily 2018 album and thank you all so much for following along with me! If you would like to see the entire 2018 December Daily series check it all out here: Larkindesign December Daily 2018. Today I have a full process video for you from my December Daily album for Days 10 and 11. Have a look!
So I mentioned in my video that my album had not arrived yet, but it did arrive in time for me to take photos for the blog! Woohoo! So let’s have a closer look at these layouts. I am using the Simple Stories SNAP! album with red binding, in 6×8. I think I will probably just stick with these albums in the future so they will all look beautiful lined up on the shelf together and this format is simply the best!
When you open my album you will find a simple beaded tassel and the tab cover from the Ali Edwards December Daily box as a cover sheet. I punched the holes in the tab cover using my We R Memory Keepers Planner Punch Board and have left it on these settings so it is easy to use while I am working on this project. It’s so fun to incorporate packaging from our special boxes we receive each year, isn’t it?!
I also added a Ali Edwards star transparency to the binder, which has a blue wreath and a red star attached to it. I love the see-through look inviting the reader to see what goodness lies within. In the process video I chatted a little about how all the things line up (or don’t!) between the transparency and the number + journaling underneath, and you can see how they don’t line up. And probably if I didn’t point it out you might not even notice! I am totally ok with that, it is just how things end up and it gives it charm, right?!
When you turn the transparency you find the photo for Day 10, which is of our girls hanging out at the dining room table. This is their spot many days because there is a power source there, and it always makes me happy to see them hanging out and having a good time together! I added the number from Ali Edwards and adhered an embroidered star inside the zero. The embroidered star is Felicity Jane. I then also stamped journaling lines using line stamps from Paislee Press. The journaling was added using a simple Sharpie marker, following the lines of the table in the photo. I love these simple details so much.
Notice how not only are the embellishments imperfect, but the journaling and the lines in my journaling are imperfect as well. I point this out because my hope is that you will be inspired to embrace the imperfections in your own albums, if you feel they are there, as part and parcel of creativity! Your layouts, as this layout, are beautiful just as they are.
For Day 10 I had a full size photo of Emberlynn decorating the tree, and Alan showing me one of our favorite ornaments. I am using a page protector that is divided into (2) 3×4 and (1) 4×6 pocket here, and love how this turned out.
The full photo doesn’t need much. There is a lot you could do to this photo, but I simply added a bit of washi tape and the chipboard circle. I look at this photo now and I am wishing we were back in December now! This invokes for me the classic feeling of Christmas and this is one of the biggest reasons I participate in this project.
For the 3×4 pockets I began with the 11 tag, which is from an older Ali Edwards December Daily kit. I trimmed it down a bit to fit into the pocket, and added a tag punch plus a bit of silver trim. I stamped the Oh What Fun! from Paislee Press onto the tiniest red tag, which is from Pretty Little Studio. That is layered on top of that thin silver washi tape. This tag, along with the silver, red, black, and white colors, became the jumping off point for this layout.
For the second 3×4 tag I layered two different cards on top of each other. I used the lined card (Pinkfresh Studio) as the base, and then punched the Merry Happy Everything from an Ali Edwards card at the top. The circle punch was just a bit smaller than I needed, but I used it anyway. You will notice I adhered that half circle a bit lower and added another strip of washi tape on top. The rubber heart circle is from Felicity Jane and adds another touch of black to the card.
You can see I added a little grey star to the photo of Alan, and these two days are in the books! Hello lovelies, today I am sharing my process video for Days 07-09 in my December Travelers Notebook! You can view my process video below, and I will share a few photos from these days with you as well.
Day 07 was a day I had the back of a patterned paper and the star vellum to begin my layout with. I printed a full page photo, layered journaling and the date (elements from Sahlin Studio Home For the Holidays collection), and I added a simple star + word sentiment onto the vellum. My story was about how we had purchased our tree a week ago and the lights + ornaments sat on the living room floor for days before we could decorate!
Day 08 was the back side of the star vellum and my foundation pages I had created, also using the Home For the Holidays kit. I wrote a little more about our delays in decorating (ha!) and included a photo of the family in the living room, this time with the lights on the tree. I changed out my number so it was the right day. I also added the red felt heart from Ali Edwards and a tiny chipboard piece from Paislee Press.
Day 09 was all about our record snow fall in NC. We had probably over 18″ here, and it was so cold I really didn’t go out in it very much! So I created a photo collage with the Larkindesign Photo Templates I designed. You can still grab those for free via this link here.
This layout included a page protector that I had sewn into my notebook, so for this day I added a gold polka dot vellum. To the vellum I adhered a wreath die cut from Crate Paper, and on the back I added the gold puffy wreath and my number. The bow and number are from Felicity Jane.
I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for supporting Larkindesign and for being part of such an amazing community of creatives. This year has been a learning year for me, filled with lots of hard work behind the scenes, lots of tears, many wonderful friendships, and more determination going forward. I hope you will stay along for the ride, it’s going to be lots of fun.
