Hello Lovelies and welcome back to #scrappychristmasinjuly! Today I am sharing my process for the last few days in my December Daily album! If you’d like to see the entire series I invite you to check out this link: Larkindesign December Daily 2018. Here is my full process video for these pages in my album.
The days leading up to Christmas are so very special and getting these pages completed in the album is a bittersweet and happy moment! The days tend to run together, and I wanted that sort of feel in the album as well, so these pages will feel different in a way. Let’s start with Day 23.
We celebrated Christmas Day a day early this year due to custody and so our Christmas Eve was on this day. We have the kids bring all the gifts down stairs and we make it a really big deal. Of course they are all so excited and anxious and happy, and it’s so much fun to gather all the gifts under the tree! I captured a few special photos here and then added two journal cards from Paislee Press.
One of the cards was bold red, so for my lines on my journal card I used red ink, just to add a bit of color and repeat that color once again. It’s a tiny detail that adds a little pop!
I added a vellum in between these two pages, one from an older Dear Lizzy collection from years ago. In the video I debated adding the number onto the vellum, and in the end chose to place those onto the photo underneath instead.
My photo underneath the vellum is the star of the show: the Christmas tree. I found the long green chipboard strip in my stash and added the acrylic word on top, and the chipboard number underneath.
When you turn the page, Day 24 begins. I did not add a number on this layout, and I am cool with that. I have photos of the kids underneath the Christmas tree, two photos of the boys opening presents, and a 6×8 of the presents under the tree.
For these pages I chose a few products from the Sahlin Studio Home For the Holidays collection. You can find that collection over at The Lilypad via the link here: Home For The Holidays. For the large photo I added a journal spot and layered word art plus a wooden button for simple and fun embellishments.
To allow the photos to shine, and in the interest of getting it done, I kept the embellishing to a minimum on these pages. I added a simple gold word strip and a few red puffy hearts below and left the other photos untouched.
Turning to the next page, I had more photos from unwrapping presents. I printed one photo of each kid opening gifts, and then two photos of the scene as well. I kept the journal cards very simple in black and white.
I added the Be Merry puffy sticker, from Paislee Press.
The Merry & Bright card was perfect to write a few thoughts down, with hand drawn lines, and then I added a cork tree at the top. That tree is from the Ali Edwards Main Kit 2018.
I had a little tree shaped clip in my stash, so I added that plus a little word strip at the top of the photo of me and Natalie.
The Merry card is so fun and random, and I added a few little red stars also in a random pattern. They were from Studio Calico a few years ago.
Turning the page again is more from Day 24 and 25. I am still continuing to use journal cards from Home For The Holidays here. My photos are from our Christmas breakfast, which is always a big feast!
The 4×6 card is a great home for my journaling here, and I added a tiny black word strip to it as well. I also added a chipboard sticker at the bottom of the photo.
Don’t you love when you have a favorite card, AND you have the perfect opportunity to use it? The Eat, Drink & Be Merry card is the best!
We are now at the closing page of the album, and I chose this black and white buffalo check from Crate Paper to close it out. I added the gold puffy stickers to say Merry & Bright, and that is all until next year!
Thank you all so much for following along with me on this journey! These albums are my absolute favorite albums every year and finishing them is a big deal! Yay! I hope you are inspired in your own December Daily journeys, and I am excited to jump back in again in November this year. See you tomorrow for the final walk through video!
Hello Lovelies and welcome back to #scrappychristmasinjuly! Today I am sharing more of my 2018 December Daily for Days 21 and 22. This project is winding down and I am so happy at how smoothly the process has gone. I hope you are inspired to create in your own albums as well! If you’d like to see the entire project you can check it out here: Larkindesign December Daily 2018.
Days 21 and 22 once again share a two page spread, which makes it easier to make product and design decisions across the layout. I am working with Pinkfresh Studio today, mostly from the Holiday Vibes collection. There were blues and reds in my photos and the product choices flow beautifully!
Day 21 begins with a photo of our presents all wrapped and stacked up in our bedroom closet. We shop throughout the month of December and wrap as we go along, and then on Christmas Eve we have the kids carry all the gifts down stairs. I wanted to take this photo and include it in the album as a show of incredible gratitude for these amazing gifts. Years ago after my divorce, I had only $80 one year to spend on Christmas for Nick and Natalie, and now to have grown and moved beyond that, to have faced all the obstacles and to be so incredibly privileged is humbling for me. In my pocket above the photo I added a patterned paper cut to 4×6 and then layered a label from a cut apart sheet plus the die cut on top. The stamped sentiment is from Kaiser Craft.
To divide the two days in this spread I added a polka dot transparency, which I believe is from Fancy Pants. I chose number from Sahlin Studio and added one to each side in black and white, as contrast to the red polka dot. You can find those digital numbers at The Lilypad via the link here: Sahlin Studio December Days No. 02.
Of course, when you turn the transparency, you find the 22 and the layout for this day. I have been living gluten free for almost two years now, and for Christmas we wanted to try some gluten free chocolate crepes! They turned out amazing! I cropped my photo to fit vertically into two 3×4 pockets, which left two other 3×4 pockets to fill.
I chose a journal card from Pinkfresh and layered a little blue birdie, then I stamped some journaling lines and added my words. I cut another piece of patterned paper to go in the pocket beneath, and then layered two circles, a red circle and the gold and white North Pole die cut.
I also added the floral medallion to the top of my photo, just for a bit of embellishment at the top.
Thank you so much for joining me today! I will see you back again soon with the last few days in the album!
Hello Lovelies and welcome back to #craftychristmasinjuly, a month-long YouTube hop I am participating in that is hosted by Heather Little of Heather’s Crafty Life! Today I am sharing a layout from my 2018 December Daily album for Days 19 and 20. To see all the posts and videos I have created in this series, click here: Larkindesign December Daily 2018.
Let’s have a look at Day 19. My photo for this day was of our son Nick, who had a match for the National Academic League that day. This day was notable because the match was held at the Board of Education Building in Winston Salem, so a special treat for them!
I chose the burgundy red of Nick’s shirt as my guiding inspiration for this entire layout and made sure to incorporate papers, patterns, and embellishments that also had that color. I added a simple star from Ali Edwards onto the photo itself.
I had two 3×4 pockets, so I chose a patterned card and a graphic journal card for these pockets. The Falala card contrasts with its handwritten pattern, and I added the felt star along with a word strip as simple embellishments. For my journal card I wrote out my story and adhered the simplest grey star in the corner.
Adding in little bits in between each page has been a whole lot of fun in this album, and for this layout I chose one of the giant AE tags with the gold embossing. The tag stands so well all on its own, so all I did was add the number 19 with a bit of black and white twine. I then punched it to fit into the album.
Day 20 was all about Natalie’s chorus concert, which was incidentally held at the boys’ high school. I loved having everyone there to cheer her on! In fact, cheering seemed to be the theme for this layout!
I absolutely love this wreath patterned paper, so I cut it down to fit into the 4×6 pocket. I cut it so the circle was in the middle of the pocket and then layered some word sentiments over top. I also added a few wooden stars just to add a bit more dimension to the card.
My photo offered a bit of white space for my journaling. I masked off the photo and stamped lines using my trusty old Project Life roller stamp and then added my story. My only tip when masking photos like this: make sure your washi tape isn’t too sticky!
Of course I had to do something fun with the back of the tag, so I chose the red and white star pattern and cut it down to fit onto the tag. I added the number 20 and the rubber word sentiment using redline tape, and these two days are complete in the album!
Make sure you hop over to my YouTube and vote on the names of my reindeer! Also, here is the full list of participants for the YouTube hop. I hope you will check everyone out!

Hello Lovelies and welcome back to Scrappy Christmas In July! I am continuing today in my December Daily album for 2018 and will be sharing my process for Days 16, 17, and 18. If you’d like to see all the videos and posts related to this project, check out this link here: Larkindesign December Daily 2018. You can view my process video for today right here.
Let’s take a closer look at all the fun details of these pages, starting with Day 16. For this day I had photos from our annual trip to Tanglewood, a local lights show held in Bermuda Run, near Winston Salem each year. I have documented this show in different ways throughout the year, but this year was two quick photos and a journal card.
I had four 3×4 pockets to fill with this layout, so I printed one 3×4 photo and added a journal card at the top. The journal card was created with a lined paper as the background, from Felicity Jane. I stamped the All Is Bright (Paislee Press) and added the number tab at the bottom. The number tab is from Sahlin Studio, available at The Lilypad.
The bottom two pockets are one photo that I printed as a full 4×6 photo and cut in half. I didn’t add any embellishments so the photo can simply stand out on its own. So festive and pretty!
Day 17 turned out to be quite fun. I had a simple photo of our grocery list, which was printed as a vertical 4×6 photo that didn’t really fit into any pockets. So I made a little pocket from the black and white polka dot bag I had from my stash. It came from Clique Kits last year. I added a red label and the number 17 to the center of the bag, and also adhered a white snowflake at the fold.
My journaling for Day 17 came about using a tag from Ali Edwards and simply stamping the date, my journaling lines, and adding a little bit of ribbon at the tag. I am loving the simplicity.
When you flip the little bag over, Day 18 is on the facing page. I had a 4×6 pocket and two 3×4 pockets to fill on this page. My photos are more silliness with the Santa hats, this time with my husband Alan. I chose products that are more light-hearted and whimsical to use with these fun photos of us.
Crate Paper Merry Days and Falala have been favorite collections of mine, and this red and green patterned paper is my favorite of all time. I adhered my numbers, which are from Felicity Jane directly to the patterned paper. For my journaling card I used the heart patterned paper from Felicity Jane, using the hearts as my lines. I also adhered a banner from Crate Paper, and a few of the skater puffy stickers for fun!
My photos are printed on a 4×6 canvas and sized down to fit with a fun white space across the bottom. This was a fun little space to play with! I added the gold puffy stickers and a little scalloped border. I love showing the silly side of our relationship and always make a space in my albums every year to express my incredible thankfulness for this awesome husband I have! He and I both absolutely love the holidays and love doing all the activities together. The best part is having these memories documented right here.
Thank you so much for joining me today! I am having so much fun sharing these pages with you and watching this album come to life. See you again soon!
