Disney Album

Disney Project Life | The Princess Dinner!!!!

Hi guys! Oh this Disney album keeps getting better and better! I have been waiting so long to scrapbook the photos that I will show you today, namely from our Princess Dinner at Epcot Norway! Here is a look at my process:

I had a few photos from our time at The Seas with Nemo & Friends, so I placed those on the left, and then the right hand side begins the documentation of our Princess Dinner!

Disney Project Life Princess Dinner

Above is the layout with journaling cards and photos, and here is the completed layout in its entirety:

Disney Project Life Princess Dinner

Can you believe it, there are actually two photos of us as a family (except for the parent who was photographing!) I will say this: we did have a Photopass and we did have our photo taken professionally a few times, and I never liked how any of them came out so I simply did not order any of them. So these are probably about the only ones of us together. I actually think that is kind of funny, looking back on it now!

Disney Project Life Princess Dinner

So we did really like the Nemo ride and the aquariums here. I actually added a title card with just the name of the attraction in simple black alphas. I know, I have not created many title cards in this project, but for some reason this layout provided that opportunity so I took it.

Disney Project Life Princess Dinner

This simple filler card from Sahlin Studios is one of my favorites, and I was excited to get to use it right here! I added a few words from the Shimelle stamp set that belongs in the Starshine collection and I really like how that turned out.

Disney Project Life Princess Dinner

This layout as a whole seems to be blue on one side, pink on the other, but the yellow provides the common denominator. I made sure to include yellow elements in several places to bring both sides together!

Disney Project Life Princess Dinner

This photo of the four of them peering into the fish tank captured a really special moment for me. I have mentioned several times how this was our first trip together as a blended family, and it is moments like this that remind me that we are on the right path. These moments, split seconds before someone runs off, help me remember that the goal is not perfection, but the goal is so they can experience life together. So they can experience life whole, just like they are viewing this ocean together. And then I am eternally grateful for these albums and for these photos and these opportunities to tell these stories so they will remember too.

Disney Project Life Princess Dinner

Speaking of amazing experiences, the Princess Dinner at Norway is simply magical. For this side of the layout I printed and cut the embellishments in the Sahlin Studios Princess collection. I used sticker paper in my Silhouette to do the cuts.

Disney Project Life Princess Dinner

I created another title card (yes, two in one layout, can you believe it?) with turquoise alphas. The colors on this layout are actually both all over the map, and I love that.

Disney Project Life Princess Dinner

This triangle patterned filler card makes me so happy right here. I feel as though my printer may have printed it a bit dark, but regardless I love the combination of colors and the pop it gives the layout. The happy flowers next to it keep the layout feeling light and happy.

Disney Project Life Princess Dinner

This photo right here, you guys. Of course Disney is known for how wonderful its cast members treat their guests, and we saw that time and again as we travelled through the parks. But the princesses truly went above and beyond to reach out to every child in the room, speak with them, hug them, and make them feel special. Oh goodness, my heart.

Disney Project Life Princess Dinner

Of course I always have some issues with my photography, and this event was no different! There was a lovely stream of light coming right in over their faces, and the overall lighting situation in this room was abysmal for this fledgling DSLR learner (I only had my camera for about three weeks at this point!). But it does not matter.

Disney Project Life Princess Dinner

And see Cinderella in the background? That family had a little precious baby girl, and the mama was so stinkin’ proud and happy to be there. I might have been more excited for them, because her excitement was so contagious. Oh, so many feels.

Disney Project Life Princess Dinner

Here is one more look at this layout.

Disney Project Life Princess Dinner

There is more to come from this dinner, because we had four princesses who visited our table that night. So stay tuned next Wednesday for that. Meanwhile, I will see you tomorrow for TBT!

Disney Project Life Epcot Day 2!!!

Hi guys! Oh I have such a fun layout today in my Disney Project Life album! Here, have a look at my process:

So a few weeks ago you may remember I hosted a give-away, and Claudine was my lovely winner. Well, she surprised me with the most awesome pocket letter ever, filled with delicious Disney-themed embellishments! I had to use them as soon as I opened them. Here is the layout I began with, using my photos and journaling cards from Sahlin Studios Project Mouse:

Disney Project Life Epcot Day 2

Here is the completed layout, embellishments courtesy of Claudine Fitzhugh:

Disney Project Life Epcot Day 2

I began with this fun filler card from Sahlin Studios, and simply added a visual triangle of embellishments to decorate the card.

Disney Project Life Epcot Day 2

I still pulled from my own embellishments too, including this circle from an older Gossamer Blue kit:

Disney Project Life Epcot Day 2

Simple words and circles here, plus a touch of washi tape.

Disney Project Life Epcot Day 2

I absolutely adored these little Mickey footstools, and love the capture of their little feet. I journaled a bit about the magic of seeing these four children playing together, enjoying each other’s company, no competition or one-upping, just having fun.

Disney Project Life Epcot Day 2

Look at this sweet face, you guys.

Disney Project Life Epcot Day 2

On the opposite side of the layout is more of the same place and the different activities they participated in. The piggy banks were most definitely favorites.

Disney Project Life Epcot Day 2

They became attached to their piggies along the whole process, and then they had to give them back. So they paused for one moment right before saying goodbye. They are seriously so cute.

Disney Project Life Epcot Day 2

This grey The Magic Begins card might be one of my favorites in the entire Sahlin Studios collection. I added the tiny red and white polka dot washi (I am so in love with that washi!) and a tiny bit of journaling.

Disney Project Life Epcot Day 2

They looked so cute moving back and forth on this activity. I wish I had made notes of what these activities were, and if we went back tomorrow I would take the time to jot that down somewhere (Disney traveler’s notebook, anyone?!). They probably remember, if I were to ask them.

Disney Project Life Epcot Day 2

Here is where I wrote about how special it was to see them all together having so much fun. This was our first trip together as a blended family of six, and we honestly did not know how it was going to go. I mentioned how at LEGOLAND there was some negativity and a bit of struggle, but on this day and in these photos that all disappeared. I am so thankful because what will happen is that these four will end up becoming best of friends for their whole lives. They are learning to be the type of people who can adjust and bend and move when they need to, and they are finding that taking risk on relationships is so, SO very worth it.

Disney Project Life Epcot Day 2

So my most favorite pretty embellishment in Claudine’s lovely pocket letter was this special Disney pin. I don’t have any Disney pins, and she included two (!!!) and I decided this one needed to go right here. I snipped off the back (please don’t come after me, Disney pin police!) using tin snips, and then adhered it with pop dots cut around the base. Safety precaution if you decide to do this: wear safety glasses or your eyeglasses, and snip it downward into a dish or tray so it doesn’t fly off into your eye!

Disney Project Life Epcot Day 2

Here is one last look at the layout. I am so much in love with this layout and I think Claudine should select all of my embellishments from here on out. (Or maybe Claudine can show us some of her Disney layouts, pretty please with cherries on top?! For real, Claudine has her own YouTube channel and she has some December Daily videos up that are really awesome, so go check her out and show her some love: CraftyClaudine.

Disney Project Life Epcot Day 2

See you back here tomorrow for Throw Back Thursday!

Disney Project Life Epcot Day 04 | Ali Edwards Believe Story Kit

Hi guys! We are back on the Disney track today with a layout from our day at Epcot! Yes, I am absolutely using the Believe Story Kit again today. Have a look at my process for today’s layout:

To begin this layout, I chose several journal and filler cards from the Believe Story Kit. I also used a few from Sahlin Studios Project Mouse and the Project Life Midnight Edition Core Kit.

Disney Epcot Day 04.pngDisney Epcot Day 04

This is the layout completed with journaling and embellishments:

Disney Epcot Day 04.pngDisney Epcot Day 04

I chose mainly black and white cards for this layout. The main story of this layout was that it rained a good portion of the morning while we were at Epcot, and the grey sky led my product choices here.

Disney Epcot Day 04

This quote card probably sums up the layout quite succinctly: when you are at Disney you don’t let the rain stop you. You just keep going and trust that it’s going to be a fun day anyway! Because this is Disney!

Disney Epcot Day 04

The kids, of course, could have cared less about the rain. I took these snaps while we were wandering through the park deciding what to do. They were just playing and being silly in these mirrors. Great moments.

Disney Epcot Day 04

I couldn’t help but use one of the weather cards from Project Mouse here. For a pop of color on an otherwise quite monochromatic layout, I chose the orange colors from the Believe kit. It works perfect.

“/>

Of course the fun photos add great pops of color as well, from the kids’ happy and bright jackets, and their smiles light up the whole place. Yep, they were definitely excited.

Disney Epcot Day 04

The right hand side of the layout is grounded by a photo of the Epcot ball. There was never a bright sunny photo op that day, just grey skies, but I went with it and took this photo. A simple embellishment adds the perfect touch.

Disney Epcot Day 04

There are two journaling cards here, side by side, so I just added a few more notes about being at the park. No embellishments, only stamps here.

Disney Epcot Day 04

There are two cards across the bottom. This one is a filler card from the Midnight Core kit and I added a clear sticker from Shimelle’s Starshine collection. So easy.

Disney Epcot Day 04

One last journaling card here, where I wrote about being here years ago and it being my favorite park of all the Disney parks. I also added a transparent piece from the Starshine collection – the greens tied in perfectly with the greens on the card itself.

Disney Epcot Day 04

Here is one more quick look at the layout:

Disney Epcot Day 04

That is all for today! I will see you back here tomorrow for TBT!

Disney Project Life | LEGOLAND Layouts 13 & 14

Hi guys, it’s a Disney day today! I am ready to get through the LEGOLAND portion of the album and get back to Disney. So two layouts again today to get that portion completed, and here is my process video for those:

Here is one of the layouts with just photos and journaling cards from the Modern Edition Core Kit:

Disney Layouts 13 %26 14

Here is that layout completed:

Disney Layouts 13 %26 14

And then to finish up the day I added the map of the park (and if you didn’t watch the video yet, be sure to because you will absolutely die laughing at my silly, stupid mistake I made in cutting this thing!!!!!):

Disney Layouts 13 %26 14

Did you guys like the gallery last week? I think I will do that again with this first layout. You can click on any photo to see it larger and to scroll through all the photos.

Now for this map. My first advice, and I knew this going into it and didn’t listen to my own advice so I am just a nerd, is to always work with a duplicate or a copy! I totally cut this too short and it was the only one I had so I just had to work with it. No worries. Laugh and move on.

Disney Layouts 13 %26 14

The only embellishment I added was this one single glitter word phrase that came in a previous Gossamer Blue kit:

Disney Layouts 13 %26 14
Disney Layouts 13 %26 14

That’s all for today, my loves. I will be back tomorrow with TBT and our construction project, so see you then! Also be sure to check back on Friday because I am introducing a brand new project and you are going to love it. See you soon!

~Theresa

Disney Project Life Layouts 11 & 12 | Modern Edition Core Kit

Hi guys! I’m working on my Disney album today on Day 2 with our visit to LEGOLAND. I decided to use my Modern Edition Core Kit as journaling cards in this portion of the album, so take a look at my process!

This week’s post includes two layouts, and next week will as well. Here are the layouts with only photos and journaling cards:

Disney Layout 11
Disney Layout 12

Here are these two layouts completed:

Disney Layout 11
“/>

I think what I will do is create a gallery for each of these layouts because there are quite a few photos to show you. You can click on each photo to see close ups.

And here is a gallery featuring the second layout images. Click on any image to see close ups.

I hope you enjoyed that! See you tomorrow with my 2014 Project Life construction documentation!

Disney Project Life Layout 10 | Finishing Up Day 1!

Hi guys, it’s Wednesday and that means Disney day here! I am so happy to be moving right along through this album and this project, and today I am wrapping up Day 1. Each day in the album ends with a map of the park we visited that day, so have a look at my process to see what I did:

Here is the layout to begin with, just a printed map and the backs of the journaling cards from the layout before:

Disney Project Life Layout 10

This is the completed layout here:

Disney Project Life Layout 10

The right hand side left a great column for a few journaling cards, and I chose to use Ali Edwards’ WILD story kit to fill those pockets. I wanted to use muted, neutral colors and knew that kit had some beautiful colors, and the orange in the Love You Best Of All card ties in perfectly with the orange in the titles on the map.

Disney Project Life Layout 10

What I wanted to do with this map was to show graphically how we moved around the park. Because of Fast-passes and just selecting certain rides, it felt like we skipped across and back and forth a bit. So I chose to use brads and twine to show our path. At the entrance I heat embossed a circle from the Ali Edwards WILD Story Stamp, which you can see here.

Disney Project Life Layout 10

The twine goes up and across several different cards and the corners were a tiny challenge, but I think you get the general idea. This tells a story all its own, with no photos or words necessary.

Disney Project Life Layout 10

In the margins I used Studio Calico’s geotags to highlight which rides we rode and where we ate lunch. This becomes an easy reference tool for the future, right?!

Disney Project Life Layout 10

This was a simple but fun layout to include, and a great way to include maps in your Disney albums. Years from now it will be interesting to go back and see what changed. See you guys back here tomorrow for TBT Project Life!

~Theresa

Disney Project Life Layout 09!!!!

Hi guys, today is Disney day! I’m working through my Disney album in Project Life style, using Sahlin Studios and the Honey and Midnight Core Kits from Becky Higgins. Today is Layout 09, with another great photo of the Castle. Have a look at my process here:

Here is the layout with photos and the journaling cards in place:

Disney Project Life Layout 09

This is the layout completed:

Disney Project Life Layout 09

I started with this simple title card from Sahlin Studios and added very simple embellishments:

Disney Project Life Layout 09.pngDisney Project Life Layout 09

The last ride we took for the day was the Carousel, and while I wasn’t able to get any photos from a distance, I did get several close-ups of the kids’ expressions. We are all exhausted, but still taking it all in. These photos sum up the day for me.

Disney Project Life Layout 09

I used the 3×4 cards in the center to journal about the end of the day and my overall feelings about our day.

Disney Project Life Layout 09

Even though I could not remember where we are for breakfast or dinner (!!) I still wanted to include eating at Pinocchio’s Village Haus. We liked it there and would definitely go back!

Disney Project Life Layout 09

Just a few embellishments from Shimelle’s Starshine collection here. The ticket seemed apropos for the Carousel.

Disney Project Life Layout 09

This guy doesn’t ride carousels any more, so I am happy to look back on this photo and remember the days he still did.  Such awesome memories.

Disney Project Life Layout 09

The other side of the layout is an enlarged photo of the Castle at night. Now, I know this photo is not entirely in focus, and in some ways I hate that because the lights truly are amazing. For a long time I avoided this project precisely because I thought my photos were so imperfect, and I am working to get past that. I am working to stop waiting for photos to be perfect, just take them and scrap what you take. I’m really happy I made this layout, and especially happy I am making this album right now.

Disney Project Life Layout 09

I left the photo completely unadorned, but did add three journal cards as a border to this layout.

Disney Project Life Layout 09

Another opportunity here to write about how I felt about seeing the Castle and how much I love it. It’s so good to get those thoughts down!

Disney Project Life Layout 09

Just one more tiny embellishment cluster at the bottom.

Disney Project Life Layout 09

That is all for today, friends. See you tomorrow for Throwback Thursday!

Disney Project Life Layout 08

Hi guys, hooray for Wednesdays because that means it’s Disney day and I love my Disney days! I love creating these layouts and love telling this story. Have a peek at my process for this week!

So here is what I started with, just photos and a few journaling cards.

Disney Project Life Layout 08

I had a supplemental map from Fantasyland that I really wanted to include, because it has a great image of Beast, so I added a quick insert to house that.

Disney Project Life Layout 08

So there ended up being two layouts this week. Yay!

Disney Project Life Layout 08

On the left hand side I documented us going to see Mickey’s Philharmagic. As I was working on these layouts, my smallest girl Natalie stopped by my studio to see what I was up to, and she told me she totally remembered wearing those glasses and she really loved them! I love that she remembers that and I love that this album will always bring that back for her!

Disney Project Life Layout 08

I had one re-entry Fastpass that I had saved so I made sure to include it here. It is backed simply on a polka dot card from the Midnight Core Edition.

Disney Project Life Layout 08

This cursive mouse card might just be my favorite from the Sahlin Studios Project Mouse collection! I am loving the simplicity here.

Disney Project Life Layout 08

I used a few more filler cards in the 3×4 pockets. Nothing complicated here. Just trying to get photos and stories told.

Disney Project Life Layout 08

I had this fantastic map from Fantasyland that just had to be included. I adore the image of Beast, so I cut it up to fit into the divided pockets and added a bit of vellum to the edge.

Disney Project Life Layout 08

This is the back side of this map, which then becomes the left side of the next layout. Our adventure on this side was through the Journey of the Sea ride with Ariel.

Disney Project Life Layout 08

I had two photos I chose to tell this story – they aren’t very clear photos and not the best lighting, but that is ok. I chose the Magic card as the title card, unembellished.

Disney Project Life Layout 08

I added my journaling on the smaller 3×4 cards, just sharing about riding this ride. I also wrote about seeing Gaston in this part of the park. And I really love this one little flair button layered on the tag, with a couple of words stamped on top. So easy and so cute!

Disney Project Life Layout 08

I didn’t do much other than my journaling here, and the star card I left as it is. This is part of my promise to myself to actually leave some cards un-embellished, and I am loving that.

Disney Project Life Layout 08

For my journaling on this card, I messy cut some washi tape in half and then I wrote about how this part of Magic Kingdom was really still under construction while we were there. So parts of it we didn’t really get to see, and I definitely want to go back to this part of the park!

Disney Project Life Layout 08

So that is my layout for today! See you tomorrow with a layout from my 2014 Project Life!

~Theresa

Disney Project Life Layout 07!

Hi guys, I am moving right along in my Disney album, one layout per week, one week at a time. Today is layout number 7, with 22 left to go. *insert clapping here* Take a look at today’s process video!

Here is the layout with just photos and journaling cards.

Disney Project Life Layout 07

And here is the completed layout:

Disney Project Life Layout 07

I chose the Project Mouse Fantasy collection journaling cards from Sahlin Studios for most of these pockets. The title card is very simple – a wood embellishment and hand-written words to note where we were. I found it was important to note where we were because since we were there, Tink has been moved to Main Street. So for this album, Disney becomes documented as it was. I love that!

Disney Project Life Layout 07

On the right hand side of the layout I included photos of us waiting in line to see Tinkerbell and Periwinkle. Some of the photos I left unembellished, and the embellishments I did add are few.

Disney Project Life Layout 07

I loved using this wood rectangle with a word strip layered on top. So easy, but it draws your eye to a place in the layout that I want to highlight. This line-waiting was a fun one, all the kids were happy and excited and I had a moment of being still to capture it.

Disney Project Life Layout 07

One of my favorite things about this layout is my journaling card I wrote about how I loved the little pom-poms on the fairies’ shoes. I think it is important to include the things that excite us, in particular as moms, and not just the things that excite our children. Both are important!

Disney Project Life Layout 07

That is all for today! Stay tuned tomorrow for TBT Project Life!

~Theresa

Disney Project Life Layout 06

Hi guys, so yay it’s Disney day! I am always excited every week to pull this album out and to complete another layout. Today is Layout six in my Disney album and it’s a fun one. The photos are of three of our children who were playing in a Tiki play area in the park while one of our children rode the Aladdin Magic Carpet. Check out the process video:

Here is the layout with just photos and journaling cards. As you saw in the video, I had a blank page on the right side and I chose one of the patterned papers from Starshine by Shimelle to complete that page.

Disney Project Life Layout 06

Here is the completed layout, with embellishments and journaling:

Disney Project Life Layout 06

So if you have ever wondered what it would look like to just have one photo in a Project Life page, now you know because I did it here. I think sometimes we put too much pressure on ourselves to fill as many pockets as possible with photos, but then think nothing of creating dozens of traditional layouts with just one photo! So here is what it looks like to just have one photo. I rather like how it turned out!

Disney Project Life Layout 06

I adore how this title card came out. The base card is from Project Life Honey Edition core kit, with embellishments from Starshine on top. The silver star, however, is left over from my Ali Edwards December Daily kit from 2015!

Disney Project Life Layout 06

I mentioned this in the video, but I will just repeat myself: I am in head over heels in love with those acrylic shapes from the Starshine collection! They are just awesome.

Disney Project Life Layout 06

Underneath the top photo is a little journaling and a simple card from Sahlin Studios. Notice I haven’t done much “magic” or “castle” themed stuff – this is not a kitchy Disney album because I have to admit I get a little weary of all that! I can’t do an over-themed album, just me personally, because I think you get the gist from the photos themselves.

Disney Project Life Layout 06

I added this yellow card to bring in a bit more yellow here, and then more journaling on the turquoise card. I really do like how these collections all come together with these happy colors, but still tastefully done!

Disney Project Life Layout 06

That’s it for Disney this week, thanks so much for following along!!! Let me know how you like it so far, ok?

~Theresa
