Hello Lovelies! Today I wanted to share with you the projects I have completed for the Citrus Twist Design Team for the month of April! Be sure to scroll to the bottom of the page as well, where you can view my process video for this Project Life layout.
My favorite layouts to create with the Citrus Twist kits are most definitely pocket pages! Pocket pages are my jam, and the April Make It A Venti kit is perfect. My 2019 album is coming along and I loved using this kit for these two weeks in February. The soft colors with pinks and purples and a pop of blue made this layout easy to pull together.
I also created a bit in my Life Crafted album this month. I absolutely love this format and love just creating for fun.
The April kit was mostly coffee themed, but still a very versatile kit! I am not a fan of coffee, but I was inspired to think about other mug-related things and that inspired me to create this fun layout about mug cakes! I love these things and we eat them quite a lot in our house, so it was perfect to document here.
I also documented my love of Diet Coke for this layout that was shared on Instagram! I had so much fun creating that mixed background, and notice the vertical embellishments on the left. Such an easy trick!
This mixed media layout is perhaps one of my all-time favorites. I was inspired by one of the patterned papers in the kit for my background, and that amazing floral cut file. What an amazing creative month! Be sure to check out the Citrus Twist blog, and watch my process video below to see my pocket page!
Thank you so much for joining me! See you again soon!
Hello Lovelies! Today I wanted to share the layouts I have created for the Citrus Twist design team that I created in the month of March. I am loving being on this team and love creating with the beautiful Life Crafted Kits each month! I hope you will scroll all the way down, where I have a bonus process video for you!
I could not wait to begin working in the Life Crafted album. This is a navy travelers notebook sized binder that is perfect for standard size layouts. One of the things I love about it is that even though I love travelers notebook layouts, I really want them to feel more permanent. This album is perfect for that and gives those layouts a beautiful home. These albums will look beautiful on your shelf!
I began my album with an introduction layout about who I am and how I plan to use my album. I created this adorable little pocket that was included in the March Life Crafted Kit, adding a bit of embellishments and a journal card to go inside.
I added a photo of myself and lots of tags, die cuts, and labels along the edge of the photo, all of which tell the story of how this is a new chapter in my life. You can view my blog post for Citrus Twist via the link here.
I also shared a fun bonus layout on my IGTV this month.
I was inspired by the Butterfly cut file that is part of the Subscriber content on the Citrus Twist website. I cut the file using double sided card stock (CTMH) and backed some of the butterflies using a patterned paper from the March kit.
The other butterflies I layered cut outs using the lighter side of the butterflies. On this side the cut file is layered on top of the chevron patterned paper, so the solid card stock allows the butterflies to pop against the pattern.
My last layout (so far!) with the March Life Crafted Kit was a Pocket Life layout I created for October in my 2018 album. You can see the blog post on the Citrus Twist blog here.
I love using all the fun elements of the kit for pocket page layouts, and here are a few highlights.
The alphabet stickers were perfect for creating my date card and adding a working title to a photo! I also had great fun combining stamp sets to form word sentiments that help to tell the stories I wanted to tell.
I also love layering journal cards, as you can see with the blue Bits & Pieces layered over the stripe card, and then repeating that pop of blue throughout the layout.
I created a bonus process video of my first layout I created in my Life Crafted album. I hope you will watch that here!
Thank you so much for joining me today! See you again soon!
Hi guys! I’m going to make this short and sweet today: I have a really sweet little mini album to show you. Last month my husband had a birthday and I wanted to bring together some photos plus words to let him know how special and important he is to all of us. Here is a flip-thru video of this gem:
So I approached this little album quite simply: photos, a few journaling cards, and the tags that came in Ali Edwards’ Stuff story kit. I asked each of the children to write a little something on a journaling card for him, and I adhered everything together. If you click on any of the images, they will open in a Lightbox so you can view them larger, and you will be able to scroll through on either side of the images.
That is all for today! Have a great weekend and I will be back on Monday with a full week of inspiration for you!
Hi friends! So I have not been filming much this week but I did want to show a really sweet little mini album I created for Valentine’s Day. A few weeks ago I went on a pinning spree (at 1AM – do you ever do that?!?) and I came across all these really sweet couples poses and photog sessions. I decided I wanted to do a mini session with my husband and then create a little mini from that. Take a look!
So for this album I decided to print all my photos the same size and orientation, since they were all from the same photo shoot. These photos are a favorite size of mine and I have used this size before. What I do is in my Print screen in Photoshop I tell the printer to print vertical orientation so the photo is across the page. Then I tell it to print the size in a custom measurement, which is 4″ x 2.75″ horizontal.
Of course Crate Paper knocked themselves out with this year’s Valentines theme collection, called Hello Love. I used the glitter acetate as the cover for my mini, and sewed the pages in place using a really old (like so totally old!) binding tape from 7 Gypsies. It was the last little bit of it that I had!
I did not use many papers or embellishments for this album. Overall the album measures 6×6, and I cut the patterned papers randomly to fit.
I kept this album feeling very light. Some of the layouts do not have a photo and that is ok!
Each one of the photos I cropped purposely, leaving room on one side or the other to allow for embellishments.
I absolutely love how the pages peek out with every page turn. This adds visual interest and fun layering without being too bulky!
I wasn’t exactly sure how I felt about this green marble paper, but seeing it completed with photo, I’m glad I included it. I think including the pink ombre tag provides a nice contrast. Again, more visual interest.
This was actually the first layout I started with. I wasn’t sure what direction I was going in when I started adding photos and embellishments, but these stripes made it easy to dig right in. Sometimes that is ok too – start where you feel inspired and then work from there!
I did add two embellishments that are not part of the Crate Paper collection – the Hello clip is American Crafts DIY Shop, and the red heart paper clip came from Michael’s. That tag makes me so happy.
Another fun layering technique – I used some of the puffy hearts to echo the hearts on the patterned paper, and some of them overlap onto the photo itself. Also notice how I wrote my journaling on the diagonal on the facing page. I admit I was so very hesitant to cut that paper up! But this makes me glad I did. Always remember, your papers look so much better used and in your albums, than hiding inside your stash.
I realize how lucky I am, to have a husband/partner/spouse who is willing to stand with me in the cold snow and take photos. Not only that, but he is willing to capture our relationship in this way, and he had a really fun time doing it with me.
This patterned paper is such great fun and provides lots of opportunities for a focal point, even if you aren’t quite sure which focal point to choose. The I LOVE YOU box was seriously perfect even though I did not plan it that way, I just cut the paper and it landed that way. I call this scrapbooking serendipity.
Last photo, and then here is the back cover.
I hope you have a great Valentine’s Day and a love-filled weekend. I hope to get back onto a sort of normal posting schedule next week because I have been working on some fun stuff this week and can’t wait to share with you! See you back here soon!
