TBT Project Life 2014 Final Walk Thru!!!!!

Hi guys, today I am sharing the full walk-thru of my 2014 Project Life album!!!! I do hope this will inspire you to go finish up a previous year that you’ve got sitting on your shelf. I promise I have others that I need to finish too, so we will work on these together and celebrate each one that is complete.

Thank you so much for following along on this journey! See you back here soon!

TBT Project Life 2014 Final Layout!!!! feat. Sahlin Studio Totes Adorbs

Hi guys, today I am sharing the final layout in my 2014 Project Life album!!!! I am so excited to have this project completed and will share a full walk-thru with you next week.

This layout appeared on the Sahlin Studio blog last week; that post can be viewed by clicking here. The Totes Adorbs kit can be purchased at The Lilypad.

So this is my final layout in my 2014 Project Life album, you guys!!!! I am so excited to wrap this project up and I cannot tell you how satisfying it is to see the album on the shelf and know that it is finished! A few years ago I realized that it bothered me to have so many albums that I did not consider “complete” (for whatever reason), and so that has been the focus of my blog for the past two years – getting albums done.

This has been one of the most important albums because it documented in such amazing detail the story of building our house. 2014 was an exciting year. Thank you so much for following along with me on this project! I will share a full walk-thru video next week so you can see the whole thing!

TBT Project Life 2014 Halloween Pt. 02 | Feat. MH After Dark!

Hi guys, this is part 2 continuing from yesterday’s layout about our Halloween adventures in my 2014 Project Life album! These are photos of each child individually highlighting their costumes that year.

I am having so much fun working with these photos and sharing these layouts with you! Have a look at the completed project:

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Halloween Pt. 02 | Feat. MH After Dark!Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Halloween Pt. 02 | Feat. MH After Dark!

My photography strategy for Halloween is much the same each year: try to get a few of us in the neighborhood early on before it gets too dark, get a few of the whole loot, and also do a mini session before we ever go out into the neighborhood. I try to keep that session short and sweet because they are obviously off the walls excited (!) but my main goal is to get an overall shot of each child in their costume and one close-up head shot of each one.

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Halloween Pt. 02 | Feat. MH After Dark!Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Halloween Pt. 02 | Feat. MH After Dark!

Addison was dressed up as Rocket Raccoon this particular year. I think he was the cutest raccoon ever. One of my favorite cards from the After Dark collection was this one that allowed me to add some fun facts from the night. That definitely goes in the “need more of that” category for next year!

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Halloween Pt. 02 | Feat. MH After Dark!Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Halloween Pt. 02 | Feat. MH After Dark!

Nick was a Star Wars character named Ethan Adare. He looks like such a cute little imp in this photo below!

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Halloween Pt. 02 | Feat. MH After Dark!Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Halloween Pt. 02 | Feat. MH After Dark!

Emberlynn chose to be a mermaid this year, and particularly a red mermaid. I did go back and look up who our source was for these tutus – an Etsy seller named BloomsNBugs. Her shop shows she is taking a break, but I will include a link here. I highly recommend her work, the tutus were GORGEOUS!

Last but certainly not least is Natalie as Elsa. 2014 was the year every little girl was Elsa from Frozen. Gah, the cuteness. I loved including my own excitement in the journaling card – I really did have fun planning out their costumes that year. Normally in the interest of time and money, they purchase pre-made costumes from the store. But this year I wanted to do something special for them. I am so glad I did that. Just once, to splurge and allow them to feel like princesses!

https%3A%2F%2Fwww.etsy.com%2Fshop%2FBloomsNBugs%3Fref%3Dsearch_shop_redirect.com%2Fshop%2FBloomsNBugs%3Fref%3Dsearch_shop_redirect

I absolutely loved how both of these layouts turned out! Every year the Halloween layouts bring me such joy to create and look at in the future. I hope they mean as much to the kiddos as well!

TBT Project Life 2014 Halloween Part 01 | Feat. Maggie Holmes After Dark

Hi guys! Ok I know it’s not Thursday but this is part 1 in a 2-part series I am sharing from my 2014 Project Life album! The layouts I am sharing feature our Halloween adventures and I decided to create two layouts and share these layouts with you in two parts!

You guys, these Halloween layouts slay me every single year! The kids take such happy photos and the layouts always turn out stellar!

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Halloween Part 01 | Feat. Maggie Holmes After DarkLarkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Halloween Part 01 | Feat. Maggie Holmes After Dark

So once I placed my photos I pulled from my fall and Halloween products to fill in pockets and then embellish. Oh what fun! Much of my product choices are from Maggie Holmes After Dark, and then I added in some Gossamer Blue, Elle’s Studio, and Simple Stories.

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Halloween Part 01 | Feat. Maggie Holmes After DarkLarkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Halloween Part 01 | Feat. Maggie Holmes After Dark

I absolutely love using pocket pages to document specific events, don’t you? Everything about this layout makes me incredibly happy. Look how happy the kids are!

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Halloween Part 01 | Feat. Maggie Holmes After DarkLarkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Halloween Part 01 | Feat. Maggie Holmes After Dark

I talked a bit in the process video about my habit of using a “tic-tac-toe” strategy to decide where to place photos and journal cards. I typically try to arrange them alternating light and dark, to keep the layout balanced and from becoming too visually heavy in one place or the other. Try it and see what you think!

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Halloween Part 01 | Feat. Maggie Holmes After DarkLarkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Halloween Part 01 | Feat. Maggie Holmes After Dark

My primary goal in this layout was to tell the overall story of our Halloween adventures that night. In my next layout I will share individual photos of each of the kids so their adorable costumes will be documented in our albums.

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Halloween Part 01 | Feat. Maggie Holmes After DarkLarkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Halloween Part 01 | Feat. Maggie Holmes After Dark

Notice how simply I embellished each card or photo – literally just one or two very simple embellishments on each one. So quick to complete and not much obsessing required that way!

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Halloween Part 01 | Feat. Maggie Holmes After DarkLarkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Halloween Part 01 | Feat. Maggie Holmes After Dark

No Halloween layout is complete without a photo of the loot, and this is my favorite perspective. When we return home from our fun night in the neighborhood, we bring in all the treat bags and buckets and dump everything out on the floor. There is no denying that with four kids, we receive way too much candy! We go through and keep what we like and then give the rest away. But it must be like Christmas for the kids, seeing all that candy there on the floor and knowing they can have whatever they want! How fun for them!

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Halloween Part 01 | Feat. Maggie Holmes After DarkLarkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Halloween Part 01 | Feat. Maggie Holmes After Dark

Last photo from this layout, a close-up of all of them together. These truly are the most special moments, you guys, and I hope with all my heart that they look back on these days and remember how happy life was. Even though it’s hard every day, and every single one of our children carries pain in their hearts, I pray they know that they had some amazing times too.

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Halloween Part 01 | Feat. Maggie Holmes After DarkLarkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Halloween Part 01 | Feat. Maggie Holmes After Dark

Thank you for following along with me today! I will see you back here tomorrow with part two!

TBT Project Life 2014 October Roundup Featuring Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams!!!!

Hi everyone! I could not wait to dive right into this brand new collection from Maggie Holmes called Chasing Dreams, and I especially loved using it for this pocket page layout for October in my 2014 album!

This layout is another roundup for the month of October and really highlights two events – a date day with Alan and my birthday. The Chasing Dreams collection goes beautifully with these photos and I am in love.

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 October Roundup Featuring Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams!!!!

So a tradition that Alan and I have is to make time for date days. He takes the day off (and I now take the day off as well from filming and writing!) so we can hang out together. We don’t always have the ability to have date nights, but this is almost even better! On this day we went to the Reynolda House in Winston Salem. This is a historical site and art museum that was built and owned by the Reynolds family of RJR/Nabisco. We love it for the art galleries and the beautiful grounds.

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 October Roundup Featuring Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams!!!!

So I must confess I still love to create Project Life pages from traditional collections and papers. Anyone else with me?! Of course working with Chasing Dreams is an absolute dream with such beautiful patterns and colors.

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 October Roundup Featuring Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams!!!!

I also can’t say enough how much I am loving these photos I took that day. The skies were so clear and the grounds beautiful as always. I just love adding these tiny detail embellishments to bring your eye around the page.

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 October Roundup Featuring Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams!!!!

We absolutely set up the self-timer on my camera so we could get a few of us together. I love this so much and I realize I am lucky to have a husband who is happy to help set up the shot and will smile and laugh. In the end these photos mean the world to him too.

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 October Roundup Featuring Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams!!!!

The other side of the layout is all about my birthday. I don’t always do layouts about my birthday, to be honest, and don’t always take photos on that day, but this year we did. I am so happy we did.

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 October Roundup Featuring Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams!!!!

I absolutely had to use these glitter alphabets so that is how I created my title card. They layer so beautifully over the patterned papers!

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 October Roundup Featuring Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams!!!!

This photo of me and Emberlynn might be one of my favorites ever. So sweet!

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 October Roundup Featuring Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams!!!!

Also on my birthday I had the honor of leading worship and delivering the sermon at our church. At the time I was attending seminary and serving as an intern. So lovely to be able to include this very important memory here!

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 October Roundup Featuring Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams!!!!

And what a great way to wrap up a fun layout with these cuties! So much to see in this layout and I love everything about it. I hope you are inspired too!

Project Life 2014 September Round Up Layout

Hi guys, today I am sharing a layout from my 2014 Project Life album for the month of September. That month was one of those crazy busy months where I ended up with very few photos, so I created one quick spread for my album. Have a look at my process here:

I created this layout using the Sahlin Studio Photo Rounds Days and The Lilypad Memory Pockets Monthly collection for February called Crush.

Larkindesign Project Life 2014 September Round Up Layout

or the month of September in 2014 our lives consisted of moving, going to Lowe’s hardware for something related to the house, and eating out while we continued to settle into the new house. That time in our lives was all about a new normal, and it was great.

Larkindesign Project Life 2014 September Round Up Layout

The left hand side of my layout includes a couple of photos from restaurants and a selfie of me in the car. I chose some of the really fun journal cards from the Crush collection and printed them out on my Canon Pixma printer.

Larkindesign Project Life 2014 September Round Up Layout

For my journaling I decided to write about general observations about what I remember from that month and what I see reflected in the photos. While it is nice to be able to journal pretty soon after events occur, that isn’t always possible. That doesn’t have to be overwhelming, but rather just write about what you see in your photos.

Larkindesign Project Life 2014 September Round Up Layout

To mark some of the days of the week I wanted to use the Photo Rounds but I wanted them to have a tiny bit of color. I added circles of color behind each one, just a tiny bit larger than the element itself, and printed them out on vellum. I love the pop of color on the edges!

Larkindesign Project Life 2014 September Round Up Layout

Larkindesign Project Life 2014 September Round Up Layout

The right hand side includes photos from our every day life including a new routine in the mornings, lots of trips to Lowe’s, and new chore charts. Oh, and yes, food again!

Larkindesign Project Life 2014 September Round Up Layout

Now, the journal cards in the Crush collection are so cool, they can absolutely be left as they are. But I do love physical embellishments for the texture and dimension they add to my layouts. I am also loving the pops of gold from the foam alphabet Thickers. I am still using my Build Your Own Kit (BYOK) that includes products from Elle’s Studio, One Canoe Two Hazelwood, and Crate Paper Heart Day.

Larkindesign Project Life 2014 September Round Up Layout

I love the photo of Natalie cleaning the mirror. This mirror actually was a wedding gift from my first marriage to her father (now my ex-husband). There is more to that story than meets the eye, but I love that I captured her view here.

That is all for today! See you again soon!

TBT 2014 Project Life Week 40 | Kindred MPM Sahlin Studio Add-On

Hello and welcome to TBT, where I work through an older album to get them completed! Today I am continuing my 2014 album with Week 40, which is a trip to the pumpkin patch. Have a look at my process!

As part of being on the Creative Team for Sahlin Studio, this week I got to participate in creating work showcasing the November Memory Pocket Monthly products! I am using the Kindred Add-ons that are available at The Lilypad.

Larkindesign TBT 2014 Project Life Week 40 | Kindred MPM Sahlin Studio Add-ons

I was completely drawn to the purples and mustards in this collection, and could not wait to print the cards and elements to use on my page.

Larkindesign TBT 2014 Project Life Week 40 | Kindred MPM Sahlin Studio Add-ons

For the left hand side I began with this lovely title card. I stamped my sentiment using the October stamp set from the Gossamer Blue Life Pages kit, and added the wooden embellishment (also from Gossamer Blue).

Larkindesign TBT 2014 Project Life Week 40 | Kindred MPM Sahlin Studio Add-ons

Below that are these fun journal cards.

Larkindesign TBT 2014 Project Life Week 40 | Kindred MPM Sahlin Studio Add-ons

I love this photo of the four kids wandering through the rows of magical, but deadly, pumpkins. For me, the photos that come from the pumpkin match every year are almost magical. The sunlight is fantastic and they are excited to be there. Love it.

Larkindesign TBT 2014 Project Life Week 40 | Kindred MPM Sahlin Studio Add-ons

I talked in my process video about how this layout isn’t about our home, per se, but it is about home being where we are and where our loved ones are. This filler card is perfect.

Larkindesign TBT 2014 Project Life Week 40 | Kindred MPM Sahlin Studio Add-ons

When I am deciding on which cards to place in what pockets, I typically place all the white ones first and then fill in with more colorful ones. I also try to alternate the colorful ones with the white ones, so the layout remains balanced. White space gives your eye a place to rest, and colors give visual interest. Both play off one another beautifully in this collection.

Larkindesign TBT 2014 Project Life Week 40 | Kindred MPM Sahlin Studio Add-ons

Since Alan is deathly allergic to pumpkins, we do not buy pumpkins. We did buy a couple of flowers that day, although I totally did not photograph them at home! Ha! But I do love to photograph the pumpkins themselves. These do tell part of the story here.

Larkindesign TBT 2014 Project Life Week 40 | Kindred MPM Sahlin Studio Add-ons

The right hand side continues with magical orbs (of death) and pretty products.

Larkindesign TBT 2014 Project Life Week 40 | Kindred MPM Sahlin Studio Add-ons

I absolutely love printing digital elements onto vellums and transparencies and then cutting them with the Silhouette. I was absolutely delighted to find a printable sheet included in the Kindred collection that was perfect for that – and this wreath is one of those elements. It is very subtle, and I love it.

Larkindesign TBT 2014 Project Life Week 40 | Kindred MPM Sahlin Studio Add-ons

I don’t do lots of lists in my scrapbooking, but on this layout I did! These are all the things that make me happy in the fall!

Larkindesign TBT 2014 Project Life Week 40 | Kindred MPM Sahlin Studio Add-ons

This vellum frame was another one of the printables that I cut on the Silhouette, and then I layered my week number on top. The word art in this collection are fantastic too!

Larkindesign TBT 2014 Project Life Week 40 | Kindred MPM Sahlin Studio Add-ons

Look at these cuties. It is hard to believe this was two years ago. They have grown up so much since then, and I am so thankful for these moments captured.

Larkindesign TBT 2014 Project Life Week 40 | Kindred MPM Sahlin Studio Add-ons

One of my favorite cards is the ledger card that I used here for the background with the Fall stamp and the floral element. At some point in creating this layout, I gave up using black ink and switched to purple ink. I’m glad I did that.

Larkindesign TBT 2014 Project Life Week 40 | Kindred MPM Sahlin Studio Add-ons

One more darling photo of the girls. This is what our days are filled with!

Larkindesign TBT 2014 Project Life Week 40 | Kindred MPM Sahlin Studio Add-ons

Thank you so much for following along with me on this layout! I hope you are inspired here and I hope you find ways to document your happy memories too. I invite you to take a look at the Sahlin Studio Creative Team work and see all the incredibly creative ways we have used the Kindred collection here: Sahlin Studio Blog. Also if you would like to purchase the Kindred products that have been used in this layout, or if you would like to subscribe, I invite you to visit The Lilypad shop!

TBT Project Life 2014 Weeks 34 & 35 | Amy Tangerine Finders Keepers!!!!

Hello and happy Thursday!!!!! It’s a TBT day here so I am working in my 2014 Project Life album and am using an older collection, Amy Tangerine’s Finders Keepers! Have a look at my process video for this week:

To say that I am a Fangerine would be an understatement. I have long been a fan of Amy Tangerine and love following along in her inspired journey. Every time I pull her products to use I am thrilled with the results!

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Weeks 34 %26 35 | Amy Tangerine Finders Keepers!!!!

This layout became a layout about back to school for all the kiddos, so there are photos from both open house and the first day of school. I blended these two weeks, 34 and 35, into one layout in order to make it easier and more cohesive.

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Weeks 34 %26 35 | Amy Tangerine Finders Keepers!!!!

For the left hand side I began with my title card. I am in love with those chipboard alphas and love how they layer over the patterned paper!

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Weeks 34 %26 35 | Amy Tangerine Finders Keepers!!!!

These die cut journaling cards are simply awesome. I decided to back them with gold tape from Heidi Swapp just to add a little bling to the layout. Dates and journaling are really all that is needed here!

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Weeks 34 %26 35 | Amy Tangerine Finders Keepers!!!!

This photo has some technical issues (holy yellow, Batman!) but I wanted to include it anyway. I have to tell you that Open House for us is a tad bit stressful: it is challenging to make our way to three classrooms in one night! But the kids do love seeing where they are going to be and where the others will be! These nights are a flurry of filling out forms and making sure of bus schedules, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Weeks 34 %26 35 | Amy Tangerine Finders Keepers!!!!

Ok, we are not anywhere near California and we do not have palm trees anywhere near us, but I still love this filler card. I just added the gold star stickers and called it done.

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Weeks 34 %26 35 | Amy Tangerine Finders Keepers!!!!

These two cards make me mega happy. The houses, the colors, and the simplicity. I also repeated the mint green sticker on white cardstock here.

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Weeks 34 %26 35 | Amy Tangerine Finders Keepers!!!!

This dude was excited to have his photo taken that night. I love capturing them in their classrooms – Open House is about the only opportunity to do that and I try every year. Sometimes they don’t want to have their photos taken and I have to let it go. But this guy was excited and happy, and that makes me happy.

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Weeks 34 %26 35 | Amy Tangerine Finders Keepers!!!!

The right hand side includes photos from the actual first day of school, right before they hopped on their busses. The title card is so fitting, isn’t it?!

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Weeks 34 %26 35 | Amy Tangerine Finders Keepers!!!!

I repeated the gold tape behind the mountains here, and added a simple arrow clip to hold the card in place.

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Weeks 34 %26 35 | Amy Tangerine Finders Keepers!!!!

How long has it been since I did a transparency pocket?! I don’t know really, but this collection has two transparencies and I chose to use this one. Perfect!

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Weeks 34 %26 35 | Amy Tangerine Finders Keepers!!!!

This one is off to middle school. He is off to make all new friends and experience school in a new county this year. Big changes, but good changes. I am so happy for us!

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Weeks 34 %26 35 | Amy Tangerine Finders Keepers!!!!

I am realizing that our front porch becomes the back drop for many awesome memories and photos now, and that is really awesome. Both of these photos are iconic to me, and I hope they will help our kids remember how close they all are. These guys have cried tears that no children should have to cry, but here they are big, giant, happy smiles. I am so thankful for this.

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Weeks 34 %26 35 | Amy Tangerine Finders Keepers!!!!

I repeated the date card here but altered it slightly. These lemons slay me! More simple journaling, and the story of this layout is told.

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Weeks 34 %26 35 | Amy Tangerine Finders Keepers!!!!

One more photo at the bus stop. This is actually the bus stop at Nick and Natalie’s Dad’s house, which is significant because they have been getting on the same bus, with the same driver, since Nick was in Kindergarten. This bus stop is an important piece of their life. So glad I captured that.

Larkindesign TBT Project Life 2014 Weeks 34 %26 35 | Amy Tangerine Finders Keepers!!!!

Thanks so much for joining me today! This was definitely a fun layout to work on! See you back here tomorrow for a traditional layout!

TBT 2014 Project Life Week 33 | Gossamer Blue September 2016 Life Pages Kit!

Hi there, today I am continuing through my 2014 Project Life album and thought I would document some of the furniture projects we took on during our move. Here is my process for this week’s layout:

This is the layout completed:

Larkindesign TBT 2014 Project Life Week 33 | Gossamer Blue September 2016 Life Pages Kit!

On the left hand side I began with photos from our first dinner in the new house, supported by the Life Pages cards in the Gossamer Blue September 2016 kit.

Larkindesign TBT 2014 Project Life Week 33 | Gossamer Blue September 2016 Life Pages Kit!

I always like to begin with my date card, and this one was particularly easy to pull together. The background paper is from Paige Evans’ Take Me Away and layers beautifully with the navy from the Life Pages kit. I brought in alphabets from Crate Paper and used navy ink for the stamped sentiments. Lovely.

Larkindesign TBT 2014 Project Life Week 33 | Gossamer Blue September 2016 Life Pages Kit!

Above the date card are these two 3×4 cards, with very minimal embellishments.

Larkindesign TBT 2014 Project Life Week 33 | Gossamer Blue September 2016 Life Pages Kit!

I love this photo capturing our first dinner in the new home. Having our new kitchen was a really big deal for us – feeding six people every day is a big undertaking that consumes a large part of our days so it was important for me to build a kitchen that worked well for us. We were thrilled to move in and begin adjusting to our new space!

Larkindesign TBT 2014 Project Life Week 33 | Gossamer Blue September 2016 Life Pages Kit!

I am particularly fond of how this journaling card turned out. Journaling on lines created with my Becky Higgins roller stamp, a few paint splatters, and fun embellishments.

Larkindesign TBT 2014 Project Life Week 33 | Gossamer Blue September 2016 Life Pages Kit!

This is one of the furniture projects we took upon ourselves, it is our TV cabinet that is in our bedroom. The cabinet is one we had already painted using Annie Sloan chalk paints.

Larkindesign TBT 2014 Project Life Week 33 | Gossamer Blue September 2016 Life Pages Kit!

Our kitchen, starting to look lived in but still not complete. At this stage we were still trying to plan how we wanted to build out a kitchen island. I absolutely love the combination of cardstock and chipboard stickers that are included in the Life Pages kits – they layer beautifully together.

Larkindesign TBT 2014 Project Life Week 33 | Gossamer Blue September 2016 Life Pages Kit!

One more look at the left side:

Larkindesign TBT 2014 Project Life Week 33 | Gossamer Blue September 2016 Life Pages Kit!

And here is a look at the right hand side. We spent a lot of time planning and designing our kitchen island and ended up doing an IKEA hack. This is a Liathorp cabinet with Varde top and stock furniture legs from Lowe’s hardware.

Larkindesign TBT 2014 Project Life Week 33 | Gossamer Blue September 2016 Life Pages Kit!

I am so very lucky – I happen to have a husband who listens to all my crazy, creative ideas and then finds ways to make them happen. I am the creative one who says this is what I want, but he is the actual brains and mechanism behind making it happen. We both love doing projects together and had so much fun making our home together!

Larkindesign TBT 2014 Project Life Week 33 | Gossamer Blue September 2016 Life Pages Kit!

Yes, this filler card actually says Okey Dokey Artichokey, and it cracks me up!

Larkindesign TBT 2014 Project Life Week 33 | Gossamer Blue September 2016 Life Pages Kit!

Everything about this journaling card makes me happy. More paint splatters, journaling lines, and stickers and stamps. And stars. Everyone needs stars in their life.

Larkindesign TBT 2014 Project Life Week 33 | Gossamer Blue September 2016 Life Pages Kit!

Here is our kitchen island almost finished. The legs still have to be painted, but it is up and functional and we love how it turned out. I love this space so much.

Larkindesign TBT 2014 Project Life Week 33 | Gossamer Blue September 2016 Life Pages Kit!

More simple 3×4 pockets here. Nothing fussy or overthought, just what I like.

Larkindesign TBT 2014 Project Life Week 33 | Gossamer Blue September 2016 Life Pages Kit!

Last card, and it is sort of the title card. I am in love with this floral – can we please have more of this, Gossamer Blue?!

TBT Project Life 2014 Week 32

Hi guys! For my TBT I am continuing along in my 2014 Project Life album, Week 32. The construction project is now completed and we are swimming right back into normal life. Have a look at my process video:

Here is the layout with photos and journaling cards:

And this is the layout completed with journaling and embellishments:

This layout is about my daughter Natalie’s birthday, which happened at Chuck-E-Cheese. So bright colors, busy photos, lots to see here! I chose bright colors and bold patterns in the Sahlin Studio Celebrate Add-on kit and some patterned papers from Dear Lizzy Happy Place and My Mind’s Eye Hooray!

These white alphas are from Ali Edwards and are proving to be quite useful for title cards. The initial + age is also an Ali Edwards technique that she frequently uses to highlight her children’s ages at the time of the layout. Love this!

When I think of the phrase Best Day Ever, I totally thing about Natalie because she uses that phrase often! This definitely was a very fun day for her. The diagonal stripe is one of the patterned papers in the Celebrate kit, and I brought that paper into a blank canvas to create this card. I then layered the phrase element on top of the patterned paper and positioned it into place in Photoshop. I did the same for the brown card next to it.

This bold chevron is also included in the Celebrate kit, and it layers beautifully with dimensional gold alphabets and strips printed on vellum. The vellum pieces are all printed and cut using the Silhouette, all from the Celebrate kit.

You can’t photograph a day at CEC without getting a snap of the tickets. For some reason this photo printed a bit smaller than 3×4, so I trimmed it down and layered it on top of this patterned paper that is part of the Celebrate kit. The card next to it is also from that kit: the polka dot is layered onto a white canvas and the word art on top of that.

I did not embellish the photos at all, since they are already so bright and busy. On the right hand side I created this cute filler card with ephemera from Dear Lizzy Happy Place. The vellum tag and number strip are from Celebrate.

Check out these expressions on Natalie’s face! She was so excited and thrilled. This is her, every day, living her life to the fullest!

This card represents everything I love about Project Life. Taking a simple patterned paper and layering stamps and ephemera on top just makes my heart so happy. If you are at a loss how to fill a pocket, this is a go-to technique.

Hopefully you can see how I balanced the bright, bold colors with white space and kraft cards. This was a fun layout to create! See you tomorrow for a very special project that was a gift for a very special person!
