Project Life 2015 Walk Thru Video

Hi friends, today I am posting a video of last year’s Project Life album for you to see! I don’t have any pictures, just video of my album and how I approached memory keeping last year. I am taking Ali Edwards’ Storytelling with Project Life class and have been watching her videos walking through her own previous albums. If you have been creating Project Life albums in the past, I highly recommend going through them (post videos too, so we can all see)!  I hope you enjoy walking through mine.

I will see you back tomorrow – I have a Project Life layout ready for you to see and some other fun things as well this week.

See you soon!

#TBT Project Life 2015 Weeks 12 Thru 13

Hi there! Today I have a process video to show you using physical Project Life pocket pages! I have promised myself (and you, my readers!) that I wanted to do a variety of different layouts this year, and I have a lot of catching up from last year’s Project Life to do. So I am hoping to continue creating pocket pages in my 2015 album. Here is my process video for Weeks 12 thru 13 for you to see!

I decided to pull out the first On Trend collection from My Mind’s Eye. Here is the complete layout.

Project Life 2015 Weeks 12 13

This collection is so bright and airy, and I was happy to bring it out to use some of it up before I purchase the newer line, On Trend 2! So for this layout, I created two title cards, one for each week.

Project Life 2015 Weeks 12 13

For Week we, I used some of the journal cards that were in the MME card pack.

Project Life 2015 Weeks 12 13

Sequin pockets, of course, and vellum elements are always part of Project Life.

Project Life 2015 Weeks 12 13

For Week 13, the title card is almost the same for simplicity.

Project Life 2015 Weeks 12 13

The transparency frames from the collection are perfect on this layout. I love these elements that help keep the layout not too heavy or cluttered.

Project Life 2015 Weeks 12 13

I love this one photo of me – I bought some new makeup the week prior and loved taking that selfie of myself. I also love the positive affirmation that this layout meant to me – yes, it is ok to include those good words for ourselves in our Project Life.

Project Life 2015 Weeks 12 13

Thank you so much for checking out my blog and video today! I love this craft and love sharing it with you. Leave me a comment and tell me what you think about this layout, or Project Life! I love hearing from you!

See you soon!

Project Life 2015 Week 40 Layout Using Gossamer Blue November Main and Life Pages Kits

Hi there and welcome back! I have a Project Life spread to show you today and I have chosen to work with my kits from Gossamer Blue this week! I receive the Main Kit and the Life Pages Kit, so all the products shown in my video today are from those kits. Enjoy the process video!

As always, here is the overall photo of this layout:

This is the left hand side:

And the right hand side:

I know the images are shadow-y today as it has been raining seems like non-stop and there is literally no sunlight outside! This has been the story of our life for the last few weeks, but I am certainly happy we are having rain.

Project Life 2015 Week 40 Using Gossamer Blue Kits

Last week I had used journaling cards in the 4×6 pocket and transparencies in the smaller pockets, so I continued that on this week’s spread as well. The two journal cards are simply a date card and a title card, using the doilies in the kit.

Project Life 2015 Week 40 Using Gossamer Blue Kits

The cork numbers were in both the Main and the Life Pages kits, but there was no zero included, so I took the nine and chopped off its tail to create the zero here. The trimmed edge is concealed underneath the doily, and it looks like it is done on purpose!

Project Life 2015 Week 40 Using Gossamer Blue Kits

I also trimmed the wooden circle in two and used both halves in different places on the 3×4 card. That is always a fun way to stretch embellishments – it could totally have been used on another 3×4 card on the layout for a little repetition.

Project Life 2015 Week 40 Using Gossamer Blue Kits

You can see here how I dealt with the diagonal striped transparency from the previous side. I love that white on transparency stripe. These embellishments are attached to the outside of the page protectors using glue dots and they look like they are layered on top of the tags from last week. I think some crafters are afraid to use transparencies because of well, what do you do with the back? I don’t worry about it too much. Every element adds a unique layer and every layer adds visual interest!

Project Life 2015 Week 40 Using Gossamer Blue Kits

The Main Kit had the ephemera pack from Pebbles DIY Home collection, and they are some truly beautiful pieces! But I was a bit bummed that the frames were just a bit too big to use in the 3×4 pockets. Determined to use them anyway, I grabbed one of my plain transparencies and trimmed the frames to create chevrons and attached them to the transparencies. Love love love how that turned out.

Project Life Week 39 – Ali Edwards Spark Story Kit

Hi again and welcome back for another Project Life layout, this week is Week 39 in this year’s album. I’m very excited this week because I had the chance to work with Ali Edwards’ Spark story subscription kit and let me tell you how lovely it is! I also brought in some Crate Paper Craft Market, which blended beautifully together. Enjoy the video and then stay tuned for all the close-ups!

Here is the full spread this week:

And here are both sides, closer in:

I cannot say enough positive things about working with the Spark Story Kit. If you don’t know what that is, then let me tell you a little about it, and the link will be at the bottom of this post. Ali Edwards has a subscription kit available and each month you receive products and a stamp set based on different options, and the purpose of these kits/stamps is to help you tell more of your stories as you are scrapbooking and Project Life-ing (there, new word).

Project Life Week 39 Ali Edwards Spark

I knew when I started this layout that I wanted to include more journaling but I did not know how or where that was going to happen. One of the things I have found using the Collect app and the Design F page protectors is that I was relying on the one or two sentences I wrote on the photo cards to be the journaling and that was it. Which is absolutely great and ok, don’t get me wrong! And I still love that method and will still probably create some weeks and some layouts just like that.

Project Life Week 39 Ali Edwards Spark Story Kit

But I also wanted to challenge myself to tell more of these stories every week. My scrap time is limited – these are the layouts I am creating right now – and if I am not telling these stories then what happens to those stories?

Project Life Week 39 Spark Story Kit

As I worked my way around the layout, I realized I had more than just Collect photos I wanted to add. We spent a little time this week redecorating the house and putting up our fall things, and I had some quick photos I took on my phone that I decided to add. And there I realized I had my story: part of our fall decor included rearranging the plate rack that my mother had given me so many years ago, and that needed to be written about.

Project Life Week 39 Ali Edwards Spark Story Kit

I placed the smaller decorating photos across the bottom of the left side, where I had used that patterned paper the week before. I thought about using that Crate Paper floral paper across the entire lower section like I had done last week, but decided against it. One reason was because I love the B-side of that paper, and both sides of that paper go beautifully with the Spark kit!

Typically I like to use transparency in these 4×6 pockets but since I wanted this photo to be the feature of this layout, I decided to place it in this pocket and use transparencies in the other pockets of the layout. This worked out great and I actually really like the transparencies in the other pockets.

Project Life Week 39 Ali Edwards Spark Story Kit

That stripe transparency is actually a 8 1/2×11 acetate from We R Memory Keepers that I cut on the diagonal. Ali’s kit came packaged in a sweet little plastic package that had diagonal white stripes on the edges, and so that is why I decided to use the stripe acetate on this layout.

Project Life Week 39 Ali Edwards Spark Story Kit

The kit came with some really cute chunky silver glitter, so I Fused that into a pocket, and I also used the glitter tape that came in the kit in several places. I love that narrow size and it added a great little accent around the page!

When I was all done with the layout, I pulled up the digital files in Photoshop and added my journaling to create a hidden journal card like this:

Project Life Week 39 Spark Journaling Insert

The front of the card reads:

I was so happy this week to be able to redecorate the plate rack! Every few months I like to rearrange things and change out the pieces I have displayed on its beautiful, worn shelves. This plate rack has such special meaning, as it was given to me by my Mom. It was one of her favorite pieces and I so remember her telling me when she found it at a shop in Chapel Hill! Every season she always rearranged it and changed out the pieces she displayed. She had so much china and so many mugs and sets of dinnerware, it was pretty awesome!

Project Life Week 39 Spark Journal Card Insert

A really good story never quite fits on one side, so I continued on side 2:

It was always so much fun to see what she had decided to display every time I went to see her. She loved this plate rack, and loved the distressed paint, and she loved how fragile it is, but oh what a great backdrop for all her treasures. In the months before she died she gave away so many of her things because she wanted us all to enjoy her things and she wanted them to go to good homes. I was the only person who really wanted the plate rack, and she was very excited to give it to me. It’s ironic, really, because she gave it to me before my turquoise affair began, and before distressed pieces became as popular as they are today. But she was always ahead of the trends, and I know this piece will never really go out of style. Thanks, Mom, for giving me such a beautiful gift and for leading a tradition that I am so happy to carry forward.

Project Life Weeks 37 & 38 Featuring Gossamer Blue Kits

Ok wow, I really am not sure where October went! My goal is to bring you a video each month showing my Gossamer Blue kits in a Project Life spread, and today is literally the last day of October so I better get on it for this month! Every month I receive the Main Scrapbooking Kit and the Life Pages Kit and I love them, I love all the fun products they send, and I love the stamp sets that come with both. They always do a fantastic job putting collections together and I can’t tell you how many times I have gotten some of the products in a collection that sold out. You know what I’m talking about – the best product in the most popular collections always sell out so quick, but subscribing to GB will always get you those special items!

So here is this month’s Gossamer Blue process video:

As always, I like to show still photos of the full layout, so you can see how it turned out:

Project Life Weeks 37 38 Full Spread

Here is Side A, or Week 37, and notice I did not create a date card for this side. That is ok, I really wanted to highlight the fact that is was our third anniversary!

“/>

You will notice I did something different on Week 38, where I used almost a full sheet of patterned paper in those pockets. I absolutely love that paper from My Mind’s Eye My Story collection, and I wanted to use it in a bigger section than just one pocket. So I decided to cut two-thirds of that paper and layer the photos and embellishments over top of it.

Project Life Wk 37 38

I have to admit that I have been missing using some of those larger patterns in my Project Life, and while I was working on this layout I did some thinking about next year’s album. I am about ready to wind down this year’s album, with December Daily coming upon us, and that means a new year and a new memory keeping strategy. So I think I might start doing something similar to what I did here, using the larger patterned papers and layering photos and embellishments over top. I have a little tweaking to do, but I really like that method.

Project Life Week 36 Process Video

Hi there, I’m back today with a video of my Project Life process for Week 36, which was September 5-11, 2015.

My last video can be seen here; Weeks 35 and 36 are together in my album so they sort of go together. I’ve used the same products: Crate Paper Wonder collection and Ali Edwards journaling cards, washi tape, and Stories stamp set.  I will link to those products at the end of the blog post!

I hope you enjoyed today’s video and are inspired to create your own! As always, I like to post some of the photos of the layout here so you can see how it turned out:

I love this 4 x 6 card layered on top of Crate Paper’s floral pattern. I am making an effort to get some of the larger patterned papers into my Project Life spreads, and this makes me happy!

This journaling card is one of my favorites, and the main reason why I chose to use the Wonder collection in both of these spreads: Ali has used that apricot color along with red and turquoise and that palette is one of my favorites!

Those turquoise alphabets from Simple Stories worked out great – I love the contrast between them and the gold stripe. Also, the white and orange journaling card was originally a 4×6 size, and I cut it down vertically to fit in this pocket. Don’t be afraid to cut your elements down and try them in a different orientation!

I hope you have enjoyed this simple, easy Project Life layout today! I’ll be back soon to continue the journey through my Project Life album this year! And because they are so cute, here are more shots of the kittens.
