Project Life 2016 Week 16 | Gossamer Blue Kits!

Hi guys, it’s another Project Life day, where I create a layout in the Project Life App for my 2016 album, and then I embellish on top. I received my gorgeous Gossamer Blue kits in the mail and decided to use those on this layout. Have a look at my process video:

Here is the layout as it was created in the App and printed:

Project Life 2016 Week 16 | Gossamer Blue Kits!

And the completed layout here:

Project Life 2016 Week 16 | Gossamer Blue Kits!

I have to say this was a really fun layout to create. I know, I know, they are all fun to create. But I really loved the embellishments and the stamp sets in these kits. I am realizing once again I created a visual triangle using the 4×6 journaling cards as the base. The date card is one of them, with fun little tiny heart stamps.

Project Life 2016 Week 16 | Gossamer Blue Kits!

The upper left hand corner of this layout houses a second journaling card that I am using as a title card. Just a simple embellishment cluster here, really to tone down the chevron pattern on the card itself.

Project Life 2016 Week 16 | Gossamer Blue Kits!

This side of the layout is really about how I am planning my flower beds and my husband and I went shopping several times just to look and plan together.

Project Life 2016 Week 16 | Gossamer Blue Kits!

The other side of the layout is about our daughter Emberlynn, who got glasses this week! She was so excited about it, and so happy to get to pick them out, and oh so happy to be able to see properly. I am so happy for her, too, and I love what she picked out. She seems to love them too – there are many times we don’t get genuine smiles from her but these glasses definitely gave her lots of reasons to smile.

Project Life 2016 Week 16 | Gossamer Blue Kits!

The cards from the Project 52 Collection within the App are perfect for this layout. I wanted something colorful and happy – success!

Project Life 2016 Week 16 | Gossamer Blue Kits!

This little telephone from the Simple Stories collection is darling. I think I am going to start making room for these title cards and the embellishment clusters. They are making me really happy.

Project Life 2016 Week 16 | Gossamer Blue Kits!

That is all for today. Check back tomorrow for a Disney layout!

Project Life 2016 Week 15 | Freckled Fawn Bloom Kit!

Hi guys, hooray for Friday and I have just one more Project Life layout this week, from my 2016 album for Week 15. Here is a look at my process:

My layout was created in the Project Life App in 12×12 format, on my large format Epson printer. (They don’t pay me to say that).

Project Life 2016 Week 15

I grabbed my Freckled Fawn Bloom kit to embellish on top, and I have used a stamp set that came with Ali Edwards’ Project Life class supplies.

Project Life 2016 Week 15

I had a lot of photos this week, and many of them seemed to fit a 4×4 format, so I chose to work with Design P and Design Q layouts in the Project Life App.I began building a visual triangle on the page using circles as a home base for embellishments.

Project Life 2016 Week 15

The photos from this side of the layout were taken on the day of my wedding show I participated in! A second grouping is located in the lower corner of this layout, again using circles.

Project Life 2016 Week 15

I am absolutely in love with these leaf stickers from the Bloom kit! They feel like leather almost, and just look adorable on the layout.

Project Life 2016 Week 15

To complete my visual triangle, I added a touch of patterned paper from Pink Paislee’s Fancy Free collection on top of an unfortunate accident that happened to this journaling card! I laid down some washi tape to see how it looked and lo and behold, that washi tape is stickier than I expected! So I messy trimmed the paper, added my journaling, and a leaf.

Project Life 2016 Week 15

It might be a little of a stretch, but this little bow also fits into the visual triangle as part of the grouping with the journaling card. Maybe a little stretch, but it really is ok. I just like the white bow and of course, more leaves.

Project Life 2016 Week 15

This layout, while very structured with the grids from the App, gained a little messy feel over the course of embellishing, which I really love. That is achieved by crossing some of the lines, placing embellishments off the card they are resting on, stamping messy images, and messy lines for journaling. I call this contrast – straight grid with messy embellishments! Lots of visual interest, but not overly done. I do hope you enjoyed, and have a great weekend! See you back here on Monday with an art journaling layout!

Collaboration Project! Project Life 2016 Week 17 Featuring Ali Edwards WILD Story Kit

Hi guys, I am so excited about today’s project! A fellow YouTuber approached me and asked if I would like to do a collaboration with her, and of course I said yes please! So Katina Martinez of lifeslittleblessings and I decided we would both create a Project Life layout using our Wild story kits from Ali Edwards. Have a look at my process here:

So my favorite way to use my Ali Edwards Story Kits is to use the digital elements in the Project Life App, and then embellish using the physical products on top of the printed layouts. Here is the layout as I created it in the App:

Project Life 2016 Week 17 Ali Edwards WILD Story Kit

Here is the layout completed:

Project Life 2016 Week 17 Ali Edwards WILD Story Kit

When I first learned that the Story Kit for April/May was WILD, I must admit I wasn’t wild about the idea. My first thought about the word wild is discomfort – I think about wild outdoors, wild animals, wild children, wild crowds, and on and on. And of course I watched the class content and wrote notes for myself about other meanings of the word wild that Ali talked about. I also looked at the photos I had in my cue for the next few weeks of Project Life, and realized that there are actually quite a few opportunities to document the WILD in my own life.

Project Life 2016 Week 17 Ali Edwards WILD Story Kit

I still wasn’t sure about it though, until Katina told me she was going to just document her WILD family in the every day, with three kids (yep, I know all about that!). So I asked her if I could use her idea as well, and this is how this week’s layout came about for me.

Project Life 2016 Week 17 Ali Edwards WILD Story Kit

The left hand side of the layout is about Alan taking the kids to the trampoline park. Yep, plenty of WILD there! They totally had a ball.

Project Life 2016 Week 17 Ali Edwards WILD Story Kit

Something that stood out to me, even in the midst of the WILD, is the contrast of REST. My husband captured all the images on this side of the layout, including the one of our son laying on the bench looking like he is dying. He’s not, I promise, but he did need to take a rest for a while and they did all wear themselves out in that park!

Project Life 2016 Week 17 Ali Edwards WILD Story Kit

I absolutely love the circle elements in this month’s Story Kit. I think we find ourselves gravitating towards circles in our art because it is a feeling of completeness. There is also a feeling of completeness in enjoying the WILD moments.

Project Life 2016 Week 17 Ali Edwards WILD Story Kit

Another image that conveys WILD is the bird’s nest that has been created behind the wreath on our front door. This is sort of a WILD place for a bird to land, and we are aware of the comings and goings of mama bird and papa bird. They watch us as well, as we come and go, from the tree in the front yard.

Project Life 2016 Week 17 Ali Edwards WILD Story Kit

We had one particularly WILD day this week where they paved our road. We were pretty much sequestered for the afternoon, although the construction workers were very nice about it and tried to help us as much as they could.

Project Life 2016 Week 17 Ali Edwards WILD Story Kit

Katina and I made a point of using the marketing card in this kit – and it was easy to say yes to that! I love this card, and especially love its place next to the photo of my feet.

Project Life 2016 Week 17 Ali Edwards WILD Story Kit

This sums up where the week ended up – with a Diet Coke and a bottle of Tylenol! This was definitely a fun layout to create and another really awesome Story Kit from Ali Edwards. Please be sure to check out my friend Katina at her blog here: lovinglifeslittleblessings.com

She can also be found on YouTube, if you wish to find her there and that is where she found me! Thanks Katina, for friending me and for this collaboration! This is definitely one of my favorite things about the scrapbooking community – the many amazing artists who connect every day with each other, inspire each other, and lift each other up!

Project Life 2016 Week 14 | Amy Tangerine Finders Keepers

Hi guys, today’s layout is from my 2016 Project Life album for Week 14. This layout was created in the Project Life App using the Kiwi Edition card kit, which I love! I love all the colors and the bright, crisp designs. It was the perfect match to Amy Tangerine’s Finders Keepers collection. Check out the process video:

This is how the layout looked after creating it and printing it at home, on my Epson Workforce large format printer:

Project Life 2016 Week 14

And the completed layout here:

Project Life 2016 Week 14

In the process video I worked around the page a little randomly – I am always slightly envious of scrapbookers who work their way one space at a time, or one card at a time, systematically. I am much more random and tend to work according to what inspired me at the moment. Either way works, right? Whichever way helps you get things done is good. So my date card is in the upper right hand corner, embellished with just a few items.

Project Life 2016 Week 14

Underneath is a quick snap of my son when we were at Skate Night. I am still taking a few photos here and there to continue documenting his healing face – he is still doing great!

Project Life 2016 Week 14

Most of this layout has to do with our yard work and being outdoors now that spring is beginning to show up! We redid our flower beds this week which meant cleaning them out and adding new straw, in order to prepare for planting in a few weeks.

Project Life 2016 Week 14

Across the page I wrote about meeting up with a friend. I did not take any photos of us (I’m not sure what I was thinking!) but I did find these cacti at the park we met at and found them to be somewhat random, but fascinating to find in the middle of nowhere! I love how Amy Tangerine’s products add just the best embellishments – fun and hip, not overdone at all, and more happy colors. Love, love, love.

Project Life 2016 Week 14

Our cat had a field day with the new pine straw, so that became one of the stories I told in my journaling for this week. I know many people like to actually document something for each day in their Project Life, and I always love to see those layouts! For me, however, I can barely keep up with the weeks so my layouts are more random, although hopefully still somewhat cohesive, stories that happen throughout the week, in no particular order. I like to use these layouts to give a general, overall sense of the week, and not feel like I am diary-ing each day (there, I made up a new word today)! This is the beauty of this project: make it work for you because there is no right or wrong.

Project Life 2016 Week 14

Also, can you tell a difference in the print quality between these two pages? My best friend, my Epson printer, DIED (!!!!!!) this week right in the middle of printing this layout. My sweet husband worked on it so hard, trying to clean the print heads and troubleshoot and alas, Epson said no good, we are sending you a brand new one!!!!!!!! And they did! You can see my big beast of a printer in this photo below – that is the old one and now there is a brand new one there in its place at absolutely no charge to us. My printer was just two weeks past a year old and I was quite surprised that it died (the print heads are located on the inside of the printer itself and to replace was more than the price of the printer) but even more pleasantly surprised at Epson for replacing it. Thank you, Epson. You have one loyal, happy customer here.

Project Life 2016 Week 14

So yeah, that sums up this week in Project Life-land. I’ll be back tomorrow with my Disney project!

Project Life 2016 | Week 13 Dear Lizzy Happy Place

Hi guys! Today’s layout is from my 2016 Project Life album Week 13. I have used the Project Life app to create and print my layout, and then embellished on top using Dear Lizzy Happy Place. Take a look at my process here:

Ok, so here is the layout as I created it in the Project Life app. I have used the Design K layout with Project 52 Edition journal cards.

Project Life 2016 Week 13

And here is the layout completed:

Project Life 2016 Week 13

This week marked Spring Break, so the kids were home and Alan had a few days off. These photos were taken on Tuesday by Alan, while they were at the park playing!

Project Life 2016 Week 13

I used the word strips from the Dear Lizzy collection along with an initial and a fun design element on each child’s photo. I also used the glitter heart sticker and camera stamp to embellish the calendar card.

Project Life 2016 Week 13

I know the photos of the kids themselves are somewhat “off” in color – these were taken with my husband’s phone and I am so lucky that he takes photos all the time and sends them to me! But they are off by the time they are printed and photographed, and that is ok.

Project Life 2016 Week 13

I really love the 4×4 cards in the center. I am not sure why I chose this design exactly, and I had to manipulate the cards a bit inside the pocket, but this is a fun size to work with.

Project Life 2016 Week 13

On the opposite side I used Dear Lizzy’s transparency, which coordinated perfectly with the journaling card from the Project 52 Edition. I also stapled the transparent quote card.

Project Life 2016 Week 13

The colors in this collection make me so happy, they are bright and fun to use!

Project Life 2016 Week 13

And this camera is perfect. Notice how well the colors tie together from the background of the layout to the turquoise within the Dear Lizzy collection. I call that serendipity.

Project Life 2016 Week 13

I also used One Little Bird’s stamp set from Studio Calico to stamp the numbers for the dates. They are a tad crowded on there, but that’s ok too. That is my layout for today so I will see you back here tomorrow!

Project Life 2016 | Easter Layout Using Gossamer Blue April Kits!!!

Hi guys, today’s layout is a layout I created to document our Easter with our kiddos. My video today features a voice-over so my blog post will be a bit more brief. Have a look at the process:

So here is the layout as I created it in the Project Life App:

Project Life 2016 Easter

And the completed layout:

Project Life 2016 Easter

I detailed my process in my voice over on the video, so I’m just going to show a couple of close-ups on this layout for you to see how the embellishments look on the layout.

Project Life 2016 Easter

I am in love with those pink acrylic hearts that came in the Gossamer Blue kit this month. They provided just the right tiniest embellishment!

Project Life 2016 Easter

These layouts come together so easily, both within the App and then layering on top. I can’t say enough how much I love this process!

Project Life 2016 Easter

I am in love with this elephant. That is all I have to say about that! He is in the ephemera pack from Jen Hadfield’s Everyday collection, which by the way, is to die for. Every piece of it.

Project Life 2016 Easter

Lots of circles and gold in this kit, so it was easy to bring this layout all together.

Project Life 2016 Easter

I love capturing these moments of our kids around the dining table. These are the every day moments that, when remembered all together, become the very fabric of each of us. I encourage you, if you don’t like to photograph different rooms in your home, change that. Our rooms don’t have to be perfect, but they can be rooms that we are proud to share in photographs. I am a firm believer that our environments are our backdrops and if we love them, we will want to take these photos.

Project Life 2016 Easter

Here is just one more overall look at the layout.

Project Life 2016 Easter

That is all for today. I will see you back here tomorrow for a Disney layout!

~Theresa

Project Life 2016 | Week 12

Hi there, today I am showing a layout from my Project Life 2016 album for Week 12. Something I noticed in the last few weeks is just how much my husband has been doing for me, so I wanted this layout to be about that. Here is my process video:

So here is the layout as I printed it out from the App:

Project Life 2016 Week 12

And this is the completed layout:

Project Life 2016 Week 12

I decided to use the rub-ons from Amy Tangerine on the date card because I had never tried rub-ons on glossy paper before, and it worked out great. In fact those gold touches dress that card up beautifully!

Project Life 2016 Week 12

I echoed the hearts and cut up the kraft heart from Ali Edwards’ Heart Story kit to layer on top. Then I added my journaling. This space actually ties the layout all together.

Project Life 2016 Week 12

I love these photos because my husband actually took them and I love when he does that. I have to say there are several pictures here and there on my layouts that he took. So on this night we decided to go see My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, which I had been anxiously waiting to come out.

Project Life 2016 Week 12

I grabbed the movie poster from Google and dropped it into Dropbox so I could use it here on the layout. It just makes me laugh!

Project Life 2016 Week 12

The quality on this photo isn’t as good as the one above, but it tells part of the story. Perfection is not required, ya’ll. Include the photos that remind you of how you felt in a certain time and place, technical issues or not. I find that non-perfect photos actually round out the whole layout, because nothing in life is perfect, so why should our photos all be magazine quality photos?

Project Life 2016 Week 12

I chose several of the chipboard accents from the Heart Story kit just to add a tiny something. Tiny hearts, tiny embellishment, but big impact.

Project Life 2016 Week 12

Here is the other side of this layout. This side is mainly about Alan building my new desktop.

Project Life 2016 Week 12

This photo of Alan on the stairs fascinates me. There is a window on the landing of our stairway that is casting the light behind him, but the rest of the photo is a bit dark. I didn’t edit this photo to fix the shadows because I think it’s kind of cool. I am working my way through Ali Edwards’ Lens of Joy class right now, and light is one of the subjects she touches on. In this photo, the light hits the side of his face, which is the focus of the photo, and that is good.

Project Life 2016 Week 12

The cat here is having a blast with the wires. I guess I haven’t written much about how I used the embellishments, but I did love using the stamp set with the Story kit. This card was perfect for the word stamps!

Project Life 2016 Week 12

I also just love the simple stamp and puffy sticker in the corner of the honeycomb paper. It didn’t need much because of its pattern, so this was perfect.

Project Life 2016 Week 12

I absolutely love how these Project Life layouts give me opportunities to tell these stories as they happen throughout the week, while it is weighing on my mind. I love being able to journal about and photograph people I love, through my lens (and share his lens too!) and then document those photos in a meaningful way. Here’s also to my sweet husband, who takes so much time every week to help me do things I love to do. I am so thankful for him.

I’ll see you here tomorrow for the next Disney layout!

~Theresa

Project Life 2016 Week 11 | Pink Paislee Fancy Free

Hi friends, today I have a Project Life layout to show you, created in the Project Life App and then embellished using Pink Paislee’s brand new collection, Fancy Free! This is Paige Evans’ very first collection, and I am so happy to work with these beautiful papers and embellishments. Take a peek at my process video:

Ok, here is the layout I created in the Project Life App:

Project Life 2016 Week 11

Two things I wanted to document this week: the signs of spring all around us, and my son’s continued healing on his face. Oh, and the infamous Ugly Cake my husband made!

Project Life 2016 Week 11

I started with the main photo, which is the main driveway coming into our neighborhood. This photo became the home base for the week number.

Project Life 2016 Week 11

The arrow is actually a bit of scrapbooking serendipity – if you saw on the process video I actually dropped the W onto the photo in that most unfortunate spot, and some of the adhesive remained. But I like to highlight the dates of the week on the calendar card, and the arrow just fit perfectly. I also used an E and an upside down 3 to spell WEEK, because I didn’t want to use all the E’s or all the 3’s.

Project Life 2016 Week 11
Project Life 2016 Week 11

Puffy stickers plus Project Life are the perfect pair, and these are so awesome. I used this coral color twice, because it compliments the lighter turquoise on the background and within the collection itself. All the heart eyes.

Project Life 2016 Week 11

Very simple and quick layout today, but stories told and photos scrapped and that makes me so happy. I’ll see you back here tomorrow!

~Theresa

Project Life 2016 Week 10 Beach Layout!

Hi friends, I am so excited to be creating two Project Life layouts this week for my 2016 album. There was a lot that happened in the month of March and it is important for me to tell some of those stories, so this is one of those stories. Take a look at my process video:

This is the layout as I created it in the Project Life App:

Project Life 2016 Week 10 Beach

I used the Currently Edition digital core kit by Peppermint Granberg once more for this layout, because I simply love it so much. Here is the completed layout:

Project Life 2016 Week 10 Beach

I can’t tell you how much I love using Maggie Holmes Bloom collection with the Currently Edition kit. Every one of these pockets makes me so happy. I started with the photo of myself in the upper left hand corner, to which I added a half circle wreath and a chipboard embellishment from Ali Edwards’ Spark story kit. I had to laugh just a little when I placed it on the photo, because it has words on it and the words ended up being upside down. So no worries, I just added different word strips on top.

Project Life 2016 Week 10 Beach

On the journal card next to my photo, I wrote a sort of letter to myself. The trip to the beach was a necessary get-away for me and so I wrote this to affirm my need to get away.

Project Life 2016 Week 10 Beach

That camera, on top of that pink horizontal stripe, is simply perfection. I also added another journal card to myself below the photo. This is something I haven’t really done in the past, but creating these layouts makes me feel like there is space to include this type of journaling, and I am happy for that.

Project Life 2016 Week 10 Beach

One of the things that made me most happy on this trip was seeing my daughter Natalie embrace the beach so much. She was in her element, running into the waves and searching for shells. Soaking up the sunshine.

Project Life 2016 Week 10 Beach

Have I mentioned how much I love the flexibility of Project Life to showcase these photos? I love being able to include layouts about a particular day or event in between the weekly mish mash layouts. And I especially love adding these embellishments on top.

Project Life 2016 Week 10 Beach

There was nothing complicated on this page. Just the words on the main photo.

Project Life 2016 Week 10 Beach

The floral puffy sticker looks amazing, joining the photo and journal card together. Just a quick note about these wider photos – they were taken with my iPhone and then slightly zoomed in the Project Life App, so this made them a tiny bit grainy when they were printed out. It really is ok, friends, to use the less-than perfect photos in your layouts and even to use them as focal points in your layout. I chose this one because it truly evokes a feeling for me of my carefree, spirited daughter, commanding the beach that day. That matters to me more than having a perfect photo.

Project Life 2016 Week 10 Beach

For the photos across the bottom of the layout, I only added a small heart with gold word strip, and I stamped currently underneath the camera icon. And that is all for this layout. I hope you have a fantastic weekend and I will see you back here next week!

~Theresa

P52/Project Life 2016 Week 10 | Currently Edition and Maggie Holmes Bloom!

Hi guys, I have a quick one-page layout this week for you that I created using the Currently Edition digital version in the Project Life App. Later on Friday I will bring another Project Life video, and for the next few weeks my plan is to bring more than one Project Life layout. I started planning my layouts for the month of March and realized that there was quite a bit to document! I love the flexibility of this method for Project Life – when slow weeks happen one page is fantastic, and when busy weeks happen I have the ability to include more stories. So let me show you the process video:

This is the layout as I created it in the Project Life App:

Project Life 2016 Week 10

So the Currently Edition is not available in the Project Life App at this time, but the digital version is available at beckyhiggins.com. I also received notification that the physical kit had been restocked, if you are interested in that one. I was delighted to get the digital kit, however, and then once I downloaded the cards I placed them in my Dropbox to use in the App.

Project Life 2016 Week 10

I decided to use Maggie Holmes Bloom collection to add my embellishments. The colors blend really well with the layout and I love the flexibility between the pinks and blues.

Project Life 2016 Week 10

The circle journal card became the perfect home for the week number, and then a Maggie Holmes label anchors the card on the page. I have been really anxious (yes, in a hoarding sense) to use those fringe hearts and had to convince myself to just use one already. They are so pretty!

Project Life 2016 Week 10

One of my commitments to myself this year is to take pictures of myself and include them in my Project Life album. I don’t really see myself as “pretty,” necessarily, but I do love to wear make-up and I do love to use fun filters to make the pictures look pretty. I think one of the reasons we don’t like pictures of ourselves is because cameras can be harsh on our faces and can show imperfections! No wonder we don’t like those images! But filters and different angles can be flattering and can help us feel better about ourselves and the way we look. So I am doing that for myself this year.

Project Life 2016 Week 10

Our cat had to go to the vet, and as soon as we placed him in the carrier, the other cat jumped on top as if to wonder where we were taking her brother! The journaling went perfect on the Maggie Holmes sticker turned sideways.

Project Life 2016 Week 10

I’m not much of a list-type journaler, but this card seemed perfect for a week that seemed to have one thing going on each day. So a simple list it is. With a cute little bird. And with that, this layout is done. See you soon!

~Theresa
