Aloha!! I am so excited to be here today and share with you what I have been working on lately. Like many of us throughout the scrapbooking community I have been working on the project called December Daily. It is one of my favorite projects probably because Christmas is my favorite holiday.

***December Daily is an album concept designed and marketed by Ali Edwards. Learn more about this project via the following link: Ali Edwards.

I am working with the Larkindecember Digital Mini Kit, which is available by clicking the image below.

I have always struggled with the reasons why page in my album. Maybe I feel like my reason really doesn’t change. In all reality, I have only been scrapbooking 4 years so right now in this stage of my life and scrapbooking journey my reason for documenting my holiday season hasn’t changed much. I imagine as my kids grow and as I grow even more as a scrapbooker my priorities will change just like life has a way of doing. I just am not sure I need to focus on that much. I love how we are allowed this freedom in our hobby, the ability to make our own rules to fit our style.

This beginning of the season I have been thinking a lot about the focus of my life, holiday season and my album. The song Joy to the World, has been running through my head as I start to pull out the christmas decorations. As I start to mark up our family planner with activities and appointments and start to rearranging and deep clean our house all in preparation for the holidays. In reality we do this every year in different ways, but this year it has just seemed even more important.

I created this intro into Day 1 with this theme and Christmas carol in my mind.

Creative Team Introductions | Hannah Lemieux!!

I started off by adjusting the 4×6 Hello December card from the Larkindecember Digital Mini Kit  in Photoshop and adding to the bottom of a 6×8 template. I then printed this off on extra thick media paper. My intention was to add tons of things we do throughout and think about during December and then cover that all up with gesso and mixed media. This way the words would be faintly showing throughout the color and clutter of texture.

I used a Shimmerz Christmas color kit, that has some amazingly bright and bold colors that you associate with the holiday season. I did try no to cover up the Hello December to much, one it is colored with printer ink and could bleed and get smudged but also I wanted that to be visible so you now in fact it is December.

Once I used my watercolor paint brush to drop big splatters and sprinkle little spatters I then used a semi dry brush to blend colors together and also pick up a little color to cause variations.

After the watercolors all dried I added modeling paste mixed with Gold Inklingz from Shimmerz and Gold texture luxe from Faber Castell. This created a very muted gold paste I could use through a cobblestone type stencil. I added the paste in a few spots not filling up the whole stencil space. After it dried I was ready for the next step. Though this part this me is the hardest step. The waiting can take some time. I find air drying to be my preferred method for air drying to help the paper not warp as much.

I ALSO added triangle christmas trees in thin paint with a fine line bottle to mimic the triangle tree in the christmas collection. Sometimes it's these little things that really can tie your project together too.

I searched through my stash of find alphas that matched the feel of the Christmas Season as well as colors that matched with the media I used. I then adhered them to my media media page with a liquid glue. You want to use a strong glue, when adhering anything that isn’t going into a pocket.

I love the way the various alpha’s and how they pop off the media on this page. It really feels Christmasy to me. This is important to me in my December Daily album too.

Here is a look at the rest of my Day 1.

Again I used another 4×6 digital card from the Larkindecember Digital Mini Kit and added it to a 6×8 template in Photoshop. I placed the 4×6 in the middle of the template so the heart would be centered. I used the eye dropper tool and collected a sample from the mint color Theresa had added. I then used the paint bucket tool to add that color to the top and the bottom of the template. Super easy way to make a 6×8 sheet. I then printed it off on cover stock paper.

I added the word Joy from Pink Fresh Studios with huge chunky black glitter. I wrapped the word around the outside of the heart. I love how the black stands out against the greens and red in the heart. I also added some stars above the Joy.

I am using a layered number cluster for each of my days. This cluster consists of a label punched tag, a circle, a silhouette cut snowflake (in buffalo plaid) with a cork number from Ali Edwards December Daily Main Kit. These numbers I painted various colors of metallic paint.

I added some washi tape to my cluster with some more stars from Color Cast and Ali Edward’s Store. I added in tile alphas “To the World” to finish the Christmas Carol I referenced on the page before. I really wanted to tie them together and have this concept of preparation flow from page to page. At least at the beginning of my album. I think when we take a couple extra moments to carry certain themes throughout our album it really feels much more complete and cohesive.

In my last pockets I added a picture I took early on December 1st. It was chilly and gorgeous. I did not even mean to get up early enough to see the sunrise, but as if the December Daily angels were looking down on me, I had this perfect opportunity. The opportunity to capture my world before the holiday season begins, in the silence I could remember the reason for the season and find pure joy.

I added some chipboard to my picture and then I added a journaling card in the other 4×6 pocket. It had hearts and some words that I covered up with a gold and black word strip and another chip board phrase piece. I added another Color Cast heart (which matches perfectly with Larkindesign cards). This journaling card is filled with lines and has plenty of space to journal about my day.
