Let’s take a walk over to my computer desktop and look at some of my photos so far this year and how I am working with them.

Let’s take a look at my process video for 2018 Week 04!

Our stories for this week included some regular, everyday kinds of moments where I simply observed what was going on around me. There were times spent on the sofa playing video games, moments where Natalie helped me with organizing pretty things in my studio, getting ready, and our cute little cat Zoe. Products I chose were the Larkindesign Grow Deeper Roots collection and Paige Evans Pick Me Up.

The right hand side is a Design A page protector with two 4×6 photos and two 3×4 photos, in a very basic alternating pattern. This is my go-to design because it means decisions are already made about where to put photos and where to put journal cards. So easy!

I began with the Details card from Grow Deeper Roots as the perfect place to add my dates, the week number, a tiny bit of journaling and embellishments. The lines keep this card organized, not cluttered, even though there are so many elements!

I fussy cut some of the butterflies from the Pick Me Up collection to add as simple embellishments across the layout. They are perfect to tie in all the colors.

Zoe has such a funny personality. She gets in cozy moods where she will just pounce on you and insist that you hold her while she sleeps. And then she has her playful moods, as you can see in the photo above. I love including our furry animals in our albums week by week.

Layering journal cards is a great way to use them up and to add space for your journaling. I’ve used the roller stamp from One Canoe Two to stamp my lines and I love how it adds to the whimsical nature of the card.

My Natalie girl wanted to earn a little spending money, so I asked her to organize some washi tape for me in the studio. She loves playing with the pretty things and I just love seeing her in these photos. This is an excellent example of capturing her relationship to me and to things – she loves to help out, she loves to play with my pretty things, and notice how the photograph documents her size and age right at this moment.

For the right hand side I have used an enlarged photo in a Simple Stories page protector. I came down the stairs one night and found everyone hanging out in the living room. This again captures what I see in the world around me, in this case all my favorite people hanging out together. I love these moments and photographs!

I added a title to the large photograph using some chipboard words from Pick Me Up and the turquoise letters are Studio Calico.

The journal card only needed a tiny bit of embellishing and I also added a touch of washi to the photo. So very simple but still beautiful.
