Let’s have a look at my layout for Week 03 in my 2013 album!
Here is a look at the completed layout.
Our stories for this week included a busy Saturday that I was delighted to be part of since I was still on break from seminary. The boys had a lock-in at church so we were up early to pick them up, and then the girls had gymnastics, and the boys had indoor soccer. One of the benefits of going back is that you pay attention to different things, and in the photos of Natalie at the top I realized she is carrying her snowy leopard stuffed animal and a pack of pop-tarts! She is one happy girl. So cute!
I absolutely love Maggie Holmes’ products and loved using the Flourish collection on this layout. I began with my date card and used the opportunity to include the floral alphabet, plus the gold alphas. The number 3 is from Dear Lizzy Saturday collection.
When using traditional scrapbook collections in pocket page layouts, layering is key. I used the B-side of the papers that were exclusive to Scrapbook.com because they are the most delicious colors and they provide an excellent background for journaling! They are also awesome for layering pieces from the cut-apart sheet on top, as with the camera image here.
When I was attending seminary my creative time suffered, so I enjoyed having breaks and spending time in my studio during those breaks. My studio at the time was in our breakfast room and I love that I actually got into the photo here myself.
There’s the pop tart girl. I made sure to include that in my journaling – not complicated, right, just a quick note on the label. I am loving seeing the progress I have personally made in my pocket page journey. I totally notice more and make an effort to journal more these days.
The right hand side is also so much fun. I have used the transparency in one of the 3×4 pockets for a see through effect!
One of our favorite stories is how Alan wore Chucks to our first date, and I with that I knew he was the one. His were black, and we found a pair for me that were black and white polka dot. So cute! This is absolutely a story that belongs here!
One of the benefits of storytelling after the fact is the ability to think back to how life was then, and include those memories as well. I remember when I was in seminary my classes were on Friday and Saturday and I missed being part of the family on Saturday mornings. I made sure to include that here as well.
I love this fun photo of Addison and me with our heads out the window! I honestly have no clue what we were doing other than being cute, and I let the bunny do the journaling for me there.
I love this happy layout so much! Let’s move on to the next week.
