Hi everyone, let’s take a look at my process video for 2017 Weeks 40 and 41.
This portion of the album contains two weeks that are completely opposite: Week 40 had very few photos and Week 41 had one single, photo heavy event! So I created a one page layout for Week 40, and then a 3-page layout with insert for Week 41.
I have used one of my calendar cards for the week number and date, plus the coffee stain card that in part of the Grow Deeper Roots digital collection in my shop. I have used Crate Paper Here & There embellishments for the page.
I had an enlarged photo that shows Natalie with her friend walking home from the bus stop that day. I am loving these pocket page protectors with the 6×8 photos! I also used a heart washi tape from Maggie Holmes Flourish to create my lines on my journaling card.
Whenever I use flair I always adhere them to the outside of the page protector using redline tape. This one serves as just a simple, tiny embellishment for the date card.
For Week 41 I chose one single event: the Dixie Classic Fair in Winston Salem, NC. I love taking photos at the fair and knew I would want to include lots in this layout, so it turned out to be a multi-page spread with an insert. I also used the 6×8 page protector again so that I could include enlargements.
I chose the Maggie Holmes Carousel collection because how could I not?! With tickets and fair themed icons it’s perfect. I did not have the cut-apart sheet from the collection, so I cut the 12×12 papers and layered them with the tickets and other die cuts! I absolutely love how the pinks in the collection contrast with the blue skies in my photos!
When using traditional scrapbook collections, it can be a challenge to include room for your journaling on your pocket pages. I have used some labels from the collection and I also pulled in some labels and journaling cards from Felicity Jane to create spaces for that journaling.
My favorite thing about these photos are the facial expressions I was able to capture throughout the day. The kids were so excited to be at the fair, to ride the rides and spend time together! I really did try to keep embellishing to a minimum on this page, because the photos shine on their own.
Look at how happy they are!
For this journaling card I used the woodgrain as a neutral background plus a Felicity Jane journal card, and then added the chipboard piece for a bit of dimension. My journaling for these pages was really all about the emotion of the day, moreso than facts, and I love that.
The last page had all four 3×4 pockets so I chose papers that had all the colors in the collection and layered on top. Those pull apart tickets are just so awesome and they layer with everything beautifully!
No embellishing on this side of the insert. I love the simplicity of that, and it contrasts well with the embellishing going on the other side.
The embellishing I did for this page is all concentrated on these 3×4 pockets, and they make me insanely happy. I chose all different patterned papers and then layered contrasting tags or die cuts on top. Then labels or chipboard and very simple journaling. This is a quick and dirty formula!
Not only does this approach to embellishing make a strong impact, it also saves time and helps get pages done. It’s a win-win.
For the final filler card I just had to use the floral patterned paper and I layered some banners and a label for journaling, and that adorable Ferris wheel sticker. So much fun!
