So let’s dive right into our process videos here. This layout is from my 2018 album for Week 3.
Here is a look at the completed layout for this week:
This was such a fun week to document! Emberlynn turned 13 this week, so it was basically birthday week all week, and really life can’t get any better than that! We went to Dunkin’ Donuts for sweet treats, had snow yet again so no school, and we visited the Clinique counter so she could start wearing make-up. So many happy times. Let’s look at each side in detail.
I am working with the Studio Calico Documenter kit from January 2018, called Summit. This kit is ski-lodge inspired, and I love the colors. My date card was so easy to put together using the yellow 4×6 card as my base, and adding the alphas and a date stamp for the dates.
When I am working with a kit, I like to pull my favorite colors from the kit and then repeat those colors around the page. My photos included some oranges and blues, so those colors are an easy add, and yellow and pink add more interest to the page as well. Even though those colors aren’t necessarily in my photos, the kit is what ties them all together.
For this photo I have cut a tag in half because the other half of the tag didn’t really fit with the layout. But the orange here is perfect.
This is a great photography trick and I love how it turned out. The sky was beautiful that night, but where we were made the utility wires and street lights distracting. Natalie however came over and plopped down and took photos of it with her own phone. That made this photo something more, so I encourage you to find different ways to frame your photos to beef up their meaning!
I love these guys so much, and love watching them play, learn, grow, and interact!
Moving onto the right hand side here, and notice how the orange and yellow give this side a fun POP of color! We had our first snow this week, which means white photos. Which also means you can use practically any colors on these layouts.
Emberlynn chose the most cool cake ever, a rainbow cake! I love that I captured her with her Dad, holding that giant colorful cake right before serving it! These are just everyday moments, nothing grand or spectacular but so fun nonetheless. What is significant about this photo is that Alan is most definitely her human, the person she connects with the most, and capturing them together is most important to me.
The tags in the Studio Calico kit are so handy and I love repeating them across the page. For this one I used the 2018 as part of my text. So simple!
Again I incorporated the text on the card with my journaling, as you can see on the yellow 3×4 card. Also notice how, with the snow that week, we actually spent quite a few days snowed in, but I still consider it an adventure and still used the adventure card! Every day is an adventure, and when you look at it that way, you don’t need to have an elaborate life to use the products you love.
I absolutely love this process! Let’s look at the next process video.
