Let’s have a look at my process for 2018 Week 13.
Let’s look at the completed layout.
Our stories this week included my work on this class, a special performance at school for Natalie, a fun lunch date with Alan, and a quiet (or not-so-quiet) evening at home hanging out together. I am working with the Studio Calico Be Happy Documenter Kit.
One of the things I love about creating this class is having weekly photos of myself from making the chat videos! I am making a point to include those photos of myself and include my own photos in these layouts. I also wrote a bit about the ups and downs of being a content creator and a simple reminder to myself why I am doing this.
One thing I have long stressed is the practice of using your favorite things first in your layouts, and this Documenter Kit had lots of favorite things in it for me! I chose my favorite cards and made sure to repeat the colors and/or themes across the page, which for this page means pink, blue and yellow, with butterflies, hearts, and transparent elements.
Natalie’s school has been having the fifth graders learn ballroom dancing, and on this day they invited the parent in to view their performance. Natalie had written a letter to the 4th graders and that letter was read aloud as well. I was one proud mama!
The hearts in this kit are awesome, and I loved cutting this navy one out from its background but still using the card for this pocket. These embellishments are so simple but still beautiful!
For the right side of the page, the transparent hearts take center stage. Those hearts set the color palette for the entire layout and I also love incorporating transparent elements into my layouts again!
I also love using journal cards in unique ways to add journaling. The diagonal card is fun and I have included the sticker strip to lead your eye down the card. I love that so much!
My date card was also a layering exercise, starting with the green card and a simple white card on top. Then my simple date using the alphabet stickers in the kit, my date stamp, and another word strip. I also loved repeating the butterflies across the page!
But the hearts. Oh the hearts! I used a transparency from American Crafts as the base for the hearts, and they are simply stapled on top. My heart gets happy thinking about starting my next layout with those exact same hearts too!
I loved sharing these layouts with you and hope you are inspired as well! See you in the next lesson!
