Lesson 08 Process Video No 02
Now for the second video in this lesson!
This layout is all about an afternoon and evening spent at a local farm. Our older kids were part of a group at our church called Young Believers (if you are Methodist you are probably familiar!), and the kickoff was held in early September that year at this beautiful place.
There were so many amazing photos from the day, so I included a very simple insert.
I pulled in my August kit from Gossamer Blue for this layout, especially loving the navy, orange, and red. My first title card is a simple journal card with yellow title, a simple chipboard sticker, and another banner to repeat the printed one.
The amazing scenery just makes me so very happy. I kept the embellishing to a minimum because these photos just really don’t need much. They deserve the spotlight all on their own.
I love this photo of Natalie and our friends’ daughter together. All the kids were so enamored of the horses!
Don’t forget, as you are choosing journaling cards, to include the ones that provide the easiest journaling prompts! Who, what, where and when cards are so wonderful to make sure you include all the details. Then use another journaling card to write some of your feelings about the photos or event!
For the insert I really kept it as simple as possible. They are all photos, completely unembellished, and one simple title card. That is it. Remember there is no pressure to embellish everything! Let those beautiful photos shine.
For the right hand side I began with this happy card simply because I love the pop of red! Originally I was going to stamp the words on the diagonal white spaces, but in the end I stamped them across the bottom and added a simple die cut word.
I also included photos of some of the activities we did while we were there. We spent a lot of time checking out the animals and spending time with the horses. They were gorgeous. I also loved photographing some of the details in the barns – saddles and reins, I loved it all. They also played some games, and those photos are hilarious!
I needed one major journaling card which was achieved by starting with this lined card and adding a simple word + arrow as embellishments. This is my feelings card, more than a fact card, because I think both are important to include as you are able to remember and articulate.
Typically when I introduce one element on one side, I like to repeat it on the other side. These simple quote cards are that repeated element in this layout – they bring all the colors in the layout together and they express relevant little tidbits too!
This has been so much fun! See you in the next lesson!
