Lesson 02 | Process Video No. 02
The second process video for this lesson is a continuation of our Easter weekend at the beach. This is a full page spread I did for the Sahlin Studio design team.
All of the photos I had for this layout featured such beautiful skies and oceans, and the Sahlin Studio For Reals kit evoked a beachy feel for me, so that is the product I used here. I particularly wanted to bring out the reds and blues in the kit, as a contrast to all these blue skies.
I had some older alphabets from Jillibean soup, so I grabbed the navy set for my title card. I have fond memories of going to the Outer Banks as a kid, and was delighted to be able to take our kids there! Duck is a quiet sort of place, not at all like the bustle of Myrtle, and I love the more relaxed atmosphere there.
Again I chose journal cards with lots of white space on these layouts. This is my trick for light layouts and pops of color. These journal cards allow the colors of the photos to really stand out in the layout. I also added a few wooden embellishments for a bit of texture here. Those are all from Gossamer Blue.
I used a variety of different journaling techniques on this layout as well! Lists are so much fun, and you can’t go wrong with a list of what your favorite things are when you are at the beach.
The wood button above is from American Crafts and repeats the red and white diagonal on the opposite side of the layout.
It was only March, and that water was freezing still! There was one day that the kids got in, and as you can see Emberlynn ran in and then ran right back out! How fun is that!
Did you notice the inflated ephemera from Amy Tangerine? Have you been wondering how to use them? This camera is perfect with its blue tones layered on top of a wood grain card. So very simple and gorgeous!
Thanks so much for joining me on this lesson!
