Lesson 09 Process Video No 01

Let’s take a look at the first video for this lesson. I will talk about how I chose my photos for this layout particularly because wedding photos can be entirely overwhelming to try to include.

Have a look at the completed layout. Notice the combination of photos chosen from all different points in the day: the getting ready, the ceremony, the decor/details, and the dance party.

When I got my Studio Calico Starlight kit, I think I squealed a bit upon opening this gold word! Don’t you just love when you get a product in the mail and you automatically know where it is going?! I chose to use this kit because it had our colors, pink and turquoise. Perfect!

I repeated the two turquoise cards on the page and added wood veneer to both of them as well. This is such an easy way to add repetition and balance to your layout.

The turquoise alphabet was also a delight! I used it to add a simple title and the date.

There were so many awesome details in our wedding, which Alan and I did ourselves. But there were a few easy favorites, like this photo of Alan helping the boys get ready. They are so adorable in their little tuxedos, and I love that this layout gives you a peak into this day. The details are all included in the wedding album – more on that maybe next year?!

I love this so much. Of course I had to include a photo from our ceremony. We informally gathered everyone around us and spoke our vows, so very intimate and meaningful. This photo says so much to me, and it is ok to leave that photo un-embellished. It speaks for itself, and I feel so many emotions in my heart. That is enough.

I didn’t want to share the whole story here. The details and the whole big many-page story is in the wedding album itself, and I love the freedom that gave me. I had freedom just to enjoy the creative process, no fear that I am going to leave something out, or whether I do it justice.

The touches of grey in this kit are perfect, as there are touches of grey in the photos as well. I also love this simple journaling card, with just a few sentences to share a few feelings.

The final photo – we transformed a dilapidated shelter into a magic dance party that night, when the sun went down. I love it so much, look at the children dancing their hearts out and this photo is almost as if we are on the outside looking in. Except that in my heart, I am still there. Oh you guys, I hope you are inspired to get some layouts done today.

Photo credits go to our family friends, Kelly Gowdy and David + Sierra Cox, who lovingly blessed us with their talents that day.
