Hi everyone, today I am excited to have Creative Team member Hannah Lemieux on the blog! Be sure to check out her About Me page where you can learn more about her and also connect with her on social media.
Aloha!! It’s Hannah with you here today, I have been using the Grow Deeper Roots Digital 3×4 and 4×6 journaling cards this month. It has been really nice having a new collection to use in my Project Life album for my weekly spreads. I will admit that half way through my album last year, I got burnt out. I think part of my problem was not having a monthly kit or collection that I was using. If following through isn’t a problem, that is so awesome. But for me, I feed on inspiration and having to dig for a monthly inspiration for my Project Life was a bit tiring, causing me that take a break half way through.
I am loving having a place to start each month. Each month the collections Theresa is designing coordinates with each other and builds off of the month before as well as adding something new each month. I am loving all the watercolor elements this month too.
Lets take a look at my week 8 in my Project Life album this month.
For this spread I also used the overlays. These are so much fun. For my week card I added an overlay right on top of the teal watercolor 4×6 card in Photoshop. Just by playing around a little bit I have a custom card that is unique to me, but wasn’t really complicated to make either. With products like this, I can have a watercolor look without the warping too.
I also added an overlay to a photo of my cat looking out the window at the snow. Poor kitty thinks should be an outside cat, but we won’t let her.
We got a lot of snow this week in my album which really helped all the beautiful vibrant colors stand out. I mixed the Grow Deeper Roots collection with other products that had similar colors and bold colors too. I loved using the Paige Evans Pick Me Up puffy stickers and die cuts on this spread. I also picked some natural colors like white and copper stars from Ali Edwards Story Kits and Pink Fresh Studio to add embellishments throughout my spread.
I focused a lot on story telling in this week, and many of the cards in the Grow Deeper Roots collection really gave me that option. I love the Details 4×6 card. It already had lines to journal but offered a bit of space at the top of the card to add some embellishing on as well.
Later this month I also made this spread to finish out my Week 8.
For this side I added some homemade watercolor cards with the Grow Deeper Roots Collection. I love this look of homemade and digital cards. Also when I make a few cards for my Project Life then I am able to match colors and they match so much nicer.
As you can see I still need to finish my journaling for my week. I also don’t have a lot of photos this week, but I like that it allows me to journal the stories I want to tell. I also love that I don’t have to have a photo for a story I want to tell. If you notice on the bottom card I used Shimmerz Inklingz to watercolor in the flowers on the patterned paper. I used some Paige Evans Pick Me Up Vellum and placed that on top of the Ikea pamphlet that we recorded the items we bought and where you find them. I thought this piece of real ephemera would be fun to look at in the future. By adding the Vellum on top helps it looks like it belongs on the page and not clash color wise.
I love how the extra digital elements can be used in layered embellishment clusters on photos or other project life cards. On this above photo, I layered the Larkindesign banner with a heart from the Crate Paper Valentine’s Collection. I also used Shimmerz on the chipboard word from Accent Scrapbooking. I love how it all blends so well with the sunset photo. I just love the way my backyard looks when the trees get dark in the evening and the purple and blue hues radiate in the sky. Even in the cold it’s an awesome view.
I can’t wait to see how everyone else is using the Grow Deeper Roots collection, so be share to tag Theresa and the DT by using #Larkindesigntm on social media. Also be on the look out this weekend on my personal Youtube Channel for a Youtube Process Video for my Traveler’s Notebook Spread where I actually turned one of the journaling cards into a page for my TN. Here is a sneak of that spread.
Until next time I share with you I hope you have an inspired crafty week!!
