Hello lovelies, I am so excited to have Creative Team member Renae Jones on the blog today, sharing her thoughts on Project Life for 2018! To learn more about Renae and connect with her on social media, be sure to check out her About Me Page!

Hi everyone! I’m excited to be here today to talk to you about my Project Life plans for 2018. This will be my sixth Project Life album, and this year I’m using a Studio Calico 9×12 size. I used this size last year and it worked well for me. One of the things I love about Project Life is that there’s no right way to do it. I complete weekly layouts, and also supplement my albums with photobooks throughout the year of bigger events (birthdays, Easter, holidays…), so I don’t feel like I need to include every photo in my weekly album. I print the books in small, softcover sizes so they can then slip into a pocket at the back of my album. One of my goals this year is to use up my stash so you’ll be seeing my stash along with lots of Larkindesign goodies! Make sure you’re following my Instagram if you’d like to see more. I love connecting with memory keepers over there.

I added stamps by Kellie Stamps some of the cards, then embossed them to tie in with the glittery starburst.

For my title page I wanted to do something with a bit of colour. It’s summer here and the oranges and pinks in the Larkindesign Out With The Old digital collection sets the vibe for the layout. I used the Starburst Cut File to cut the little starburst from glittery paper, then added it to a 6×4 card that I resized to fit the 3×3 pocket. I cropped the 3×4 cards to also fit the pockets and love how they turned out. The orange and pink floral is a 12×12 paper resized down. The patterned papers are available to download for free here. Isn’t hybrid great? There are so many ways to make the products work for you if you’re working outside of the standard pocket sizes! I’ve had the numbers for a few years, so I felt it was high time I used them. Like Theresa herself says: Use the pretty supplies! I’m going to be working on this! I then added some sequins and the black and white photo of us. I’m pretty happy with this page.

Moving on to week one, I realised right away that I had a dilemma! I lost 6 pockets on the left side due to my numbers and sequins, and being school holidays I did have more photos that I wanted to include, so I decided that two spreads would be the way to go.

I love that the starburst cut file looks like fireworks! Perfect start to the new year.

I started with the title card and embellished it with more glittery gold starburts. While I missed them this year, I usually watch the fireworks that bring in the New Year on TV. These starbursts look like exploding fireworks so they were an obvious choice! I then added this word phrase from Studio Calico to bring it together.

 Week one - spread one!

For the rest of the spread I added cards from the Out with the Old collection, resizing some to 3×3 where needed. I then broke out the stash and added some embellishments here and there to add a bit more gold, and tie the colours in.

For the second spread I’ve used the Out With The Old cards, aside from the 3×4 calendar which is The Making Table, which I’ve stamped using a One Little Bird date stamp. I love how the stamps tie them together. I tried something I hadn’t done before which was to split a couple of embellishments across two photos, and I really like how that looks, so expect to see more of that from me! I really love this collection, and it’s been so easy to use for this layout.

See you again soon! ~Renae
