***Sahlin Studio*** Design Team | 2019 Project Life Weeks 12 and 13
Hello Lovelies! Today I am excited to share with you a Project Life layout I created using one of my favorite kits from Sahlin Studio: Spring Stories! This is a super flexible, versatile, and gorgeous kit and I love seeing it in my completed layouts. You can watch my process video here.
Let’s have a look at the details of the layout. My stories for these two weeks are pretty specific: we tackled two really big home projects, enlarging and prepping the flower beds and organizing the garage. The Spring Stories kit from Sahlin Studio was absolutely perfect for this layout!
I began my layout with the date card. For this layout I put the dates and weeks on the same card using the lovely floral card in the kit. This card sets the tone for the layout and includes most of the colors I am using in the layout. I added the week number using alphabet stamps from Elle’s Studio, the Heidi Swapp roller date stamp, and added flair from Clique Kits and the wood veneer branch from Ali Edwards.
There are quite a few flower photos on this layout, and I love documenting our plants every year in some way. This week our Camelia plant bloomed, which is a first, and I was so excited! Next to the Camelia photo I placed a black and white card for journaling, but I added a bit of color with the word strip.
I think Ali Edwards is someone who writes her journaling around circle elements, and I have done that below with the square photo of myself. I added the circle from the Me Story kit, and wrote a few words around it for a very simple, but pretty embellishment.
For the photo of the front door I added a word strip (again from the Spring Stories kit) on top of a vellum circle I have had in my stash. The wood veneer floral piece is from One Canoe Two, and it reminded me of the flowers in my photos and in the kit. So I layered it upon the floral patterned card.
The left hand side came together easily as well. I repeated the colors from the kit: pinks, blues, and greens.
Since I had included both weeks on the first date card, this card at the bottom remained for journaling. That is the only thing I added, allowing it to stand alone as a beautiful simple card.
I just love all these deep blue skies, don’t you? The photo of Alan pulling our loaded cart to the car is an iconic one. We go to Lowe’s every year for our yard and it’s always one of my favorite times of year! I added a banner from the Spring Stories kit and stamped “today” using a stamp set from Paige Evans.
The other blue sky photo I embellished by adding just a few fun chipboard pieces from my stash. I love that angle in the photo; I held the camera sort of underneath our tree and grabbed the corner of the roof behind it.
Thanks so much for joining me today! It’s so much fun to watch week by week as these albums come together, and I love sharing with you! See you again soon!
