Hello Lovelies! Today I am happy to share my process video for Project Life 2019 Weeks 14 and 15. This is a hybrid layout I created using digital products from the Sahlin Studio For Real kit. Check out my process below.
Yesterday I shared my process for designing and printing the layout using the Print To Pocket Action No. 01, which you can see here. Let’s look at the completed project!
The journal cards from the For Real kit made it really easy to coordinate for this fun layout. I love the red and blue colors in the kit, so I went looking for embellishments in those color ranges. My date card is relatively simple, with just the month, the date stamped, and a circle element from the kit.
The journal cards in all of the Sahlin Studio kits make it so easy to add as much or as little journaling as you wish. On the diagonal stripe card I simply added my words and underlined them in the white space. Another way I incorporated words onto this page is in the 4×6 card with the square photo. I’ve been adding these Instagram photos to a plain white canvas in Photoshop and they leave a great space for journaling and embellishments right next to the photo. Just words, lines, and a simple word strip make this pocket super simple to complete.
This weather card makes me laugh every time. I took a screen shot of the weather that day we had snow in April and added the words using alphabet stickers from Simple Stories. This was a fun way to incorporate the theme from the digital kit. I am still including photos of myself as well, and love seeing myself in these layouts each week. I encourage you to take moments to aim the camera at yourself and become more comfortable seeing yourself in photos! You will be so glad you did!
For the right side of the layout I had more words and stories. We actually had quite a few difficult weeks during this time – both our girls were in the hospital at the same time (different causes, everyone is ok now) and that took a lot of our time helping them get better. I was not anywhere in a position to photograph them while they were in the hospital and it was not appropriate to do that, but when I went back to these two weeks I had captured them both at the dinner table, playing with their Cutie Cars. That was the perfect photo to include. I will never take their health for granted and it makes these special moments between them even more meaningful.
I don’t often include current events in my layouts, but I wanted to include the first photo of the Black Hole that was captured that week. It’s something that is very exciting to all of us here at home, we have watched the different broadcasts and are so excited about this development in human history. It will be interesting to see where this leads in the future!
I mentioned we had snow, which is unusual in March in NC! The photo of the cat captures the snow in the window. Sometimes there aren’t words for what we are experiencing, and I want you to know it is ok to not mention hard stuff if you don’t want to. Focus on the good, focus on what comforts you during difficult weeks.
One last journal card to share which is a 4×6 card. I added my words and a simple word sticker and that is all. I love approaching these cards in a very simple way – just one embellishment is all it needs, if even that. It simplifies the process and makes the layout so much easier to complete.
Thanks so much for joining me today! See you again soon!
