Hi guys! Ok I know it’s not Thursday but this is part 1 in a 2-part series I am sharing from my 2014 Project Life album! The layouts I am sharing feature our Halloween adventures and I decided to create two layouts and share these layouts with you in two parts!
You guys, these Halloween layouts slay me every single year! The kids take such happy photos and the layouts always turn out stellar!
So once I placed my photos I pulled from my fall and Halloween products to fill in pockets and then embellish. Oh what fun! Much of my product choices are from Maggie Holmes After Dark, and then I added in some Gossamer Blue, Elle’s Studio, and Simple Stories.
I absolutely love using pocket pages to document specific events, don’t you? Everything about this layout makes me incredibly happy. Look how happy the kids are!
I talked a bit in the process video about my habit of using a “tic-tac-toe” strategy to decide where to place photos and journal cards. I typically try to arrange them alternating light and dark, to keep the layout balanced and from becoming too visually heavy in one place or the other. Try it and see what you think!
My primary goal in this layout was to tell the overall story of our Halloween adventures that night. In my next layout I will share individual photos of each of the kids so their adorable costumes will be documented in our albums.
Notice how simply I embellished each card or photo – literally just one or two very simple embellishments on each one. So quick to complete and not much obsessing required that way!
No Halloween layout is complete without a photo of the loot, and this is my favorite perspective. When we return home from our fun night in the neighborhood, we bring in all the treat bags and buckets and dump everything out on the floor. There is no denying that with four kids, we receive way too much candy! We go through and keep what we like and then give the rest away. But it must be like Christmas for the kids, seeing all that candy there on the floor and knowing they can have whatever they want! How fun for them!
Last photo from this layout, a close-up of all of them together. These truly are the most special moments, you guys, and I hope with all my heart that they look back on these days and remember how happy life was. Even though it’s hard every day, and every single one of our children carries pain in their hearts, I pray they know that they had some amazing times too.
Thank you for following along with me today! I will see you back here tomorrow with part two!
