Chasing Dreams

Traditional Layout | Dreams Feat. Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams

Hi guys!!!! So I just can’t seem to put this Maggie Holmes collection down! I decided to create a traditional layout to share with you today. Woot woot!

Ah that was so much fun to create and I could not wait to share this layout with you today. Here is a look at the completed layout:

My jumping off point for the layout was my photo and a few thoughts about what I needed to hear that day. This is a combination of art journaling and scrapbooking, isn’t it? I began the layout by printing my journaling directly onto my cardstock, knowing that I wanted my photo to be above. I had not decided for sure about what collection I wanted to use, or how I wanted to embellish, and that will always come when it is time.

I knew that I wanted this beautiful pink floral to show and I also knew I wanted to use my favorite stencil to create some florals of my own. The stencil I used is an older one from Dear Lizzy, and I chose Tim Holtz Distress Paints to create the florals. I wanted them to be alongside the journaling, but leaving enough white space to give your eye a place to rest on the layout.

Just a few embellishments, some pink paint splatters, and this layout is complete.

My journaling reads as follows:

I’m not really sure how it happened, but suddenly I’m looking in the camera and this was what I saw. Someone who was polished, professional, knew what she was talking about. Has a goal and is working towards it. Every single day. Oh sure, the haters will hate. But this girl keeps on regardless. There are days it feels like nothing is going to work out. And what if it doesn’t work out? Well, even if it doesn’t work out, this girl still kept going and she still kept creating pretty things and she still kept doing what she loved. Even if no one ever sees it, or ever loves it, even if nobody ever cares, she still made those things that made her happy. And that, in the end, is all that mattered. That was it! So you keep going, beautiful one,. Keep creating, and keep doing what you know and love. That is all that matters. Seriously. All that matters.

Project Life 2017 Week 03

Hi guys! Today I am sharing my Week 03 layout in my 2017 Project Life album. I am using the template I shared in my last tutorial by Sahlin Studio, printed at home, and today I will embellish the layout. Have a look at my process here:

So once a month Sahlin Studio releases a free template and this month I decided to make excellent use of that template in my Project Life layout. I am so glad I did – it’s a gorgeous, easy to use template and converting it to 12×24 was easy-peasy as well. Here is how the completed layout turned out!

I also used the patterned papers and digital elements available in the Sahlin Studio Hello Sampler kit. I chose two different patterns for each side of my layout and love how that looks. Here is the left hand side:

Our week was so busy and I had lots of photos for this week. Yay! Nick had a school assignment that involved creating a dragon out of floral foam and we had so much fun creating that dragon! He also made a 100 on the assignment, so that is why I stamped that number at the top of the photos. Alan and I are practicing yoga together – I have to say it is a powerful exercise to do as a couple. It kicks my butt every time but we get to spend quiet time together. So awesome. I also wanted to include one of my head shots I took when I was creating the Introduction video for this album. I completely enjoyed creating those photos!

Typically when I print digital elements at home, I print them both on vellum and cardstock, and then cut them using my Silhouette. The elements in the Hello Sampler were perfect!

Let’s have a look at the right hand side!

This girl turned 12 this week and it is always so much fun to celebrate with her! She loves her birthday so much and every present is happiness for her. Love it! So I made this whole layout about her day – fantastic decision. I loved having the space to include several photos. Awesome!

I have to admit I was not sure how I would feel about having smaller photos on my layout in this year’s album. It is something I wanted to try and at least give it a chance, because I have been wanting to include more photos in these weekly layout sometimes. I am glad I gave it a chance, because I really am loving it. I love having larger photos too, and love including the smaller ones to tell more of the stories.

And even with so many photos, I still had space for a fun filler card!

TBT Project Life 2014 October Roundup Featuring Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams!!!!

Hi everyone! I could not wait to dive right into this brand new collection from Maggie Holmes called Chasing Dreams, and I especially loved using it for this pocket page layout for October in my 2014 album!

This layout is another roundup for the month of October and really highlights two events – a date day with Alan and my birthday. The Chasing Dreams collection goes beautifully with these photos and I am in love.

So a tradition that Alan and I have is to make time for date days. He takes the day off (and I now take the day off as well from filming and writing!) so we can hang out together. We don’t always have the ability to have date nights, but this is almost even better! On this day we went to the Reynolda House in Winston Salem. This is a historical site and art museum that was built and owned by the Reynolds family of RJR/Nabisco. We love it for the art galleries and the beautiful grounds.

So I must confess I still love to create Project Life pages from traditional collections and papers. Anyone else with me?! Of course working with Chasing Dreams is an absolute dream with such beautiful patterns and colors.

I also can’t say enough how much I am loving these photos I took that day. The skies were so clear and the grounds beautiful as always. I just love adding these tiny detail embellishments to bring your eye around the page.

We absolutely set up the self-timer on my camera so we could get a few of us together. I love this so much and I realize I am lucky to have a husband who is happy to help set up the shot and will smile and laugh. In the end these photos mean the world to him too.

The other side of the layout is all about my birthday. I don’t always do layouts about my birthday, to be honest, and don’t always take photos on that day, but this year we did. I am so happy we did.

I absolutely had to use these glitter alphabets so that is how I created my title card. They layer so beautifully over the patterned papers!

This photo of me and Emberlynn might be one of my favorites ever. So sweet!

Also on my birthday I had the honor of leading worship and delivering the sermon at our church. At the time I was attending seminary and serving as an intern. So lovely to be able to include this very important memory here!

And what a great way to wrap up a fun layout with these cuties! So much to see in this layout and I love everything about it. I hope you are inspired too!
