2018 Project Life Introduction Layout ft. Out With The Old and Crate Paper Good Vibes!!

***To learn more about this album and my setup look out for my upcoming class, In My Pocket Memory Keeping Volume 2!! Coming soon!!!***

Hi guys, today I am sharing the Introduction layout in my 2018 Project Life album! I am so thrilled to begin another year of memory keeping in a weekly format. I am using my own brand new digital collection called Out With The Old, along with Crate Paper’s Good Vibes physical collection!

I am so excited to start this project again this year! This is my seventh year doing Project Life, and I love this format. I am especially excited that this year I will be creating my own products to use in these albums. I hope this layout is inspirational for you!

Since this is the introduction layout, this is a good time to include who the album is about. This is a snapshot of who we are right at this moment in time. I began with two photos we took back around Thanksgiving last year, so fairly recent. I then just filled in with my favorite journaling cards from the Out With The Old collection.

For my title card I really liked this word art from the Crate Paper Good Vibes collection. We can all use some good vibes this year, can’t we?! I layered embellishments onto the black and white Marks card for fun, and I added our intitial plus our names and ages. The line stamp is from the 2017 Paislee Press December Daily product offerings, available at Ali Edwards’ website.

I added just the tiniest of embellishments to our photo. A good formula is a label, a word sticker, and a chipboard piece!

2018 Project Life Introduction Layout ft. Out With The Old and Crate Paper Good Vibes!!2018 Project Life Introduction Layout ft. Out With The Old and Crate Paper Good Vibes!!

Some of the cards need no embellishing at all, and for the start here card I only added the tiniest glitter asterisk. Those are some of my favorite cards in the collection! Same for the year card – it needed only a little more glitter and a word stamp. That roller stamp is from Becky Higgins Project Life and still remains one of my most used products I own!

Larkindecember | December Daily Album 2017 Days 12 and 13!!!

Hello lovelies, today I am continuing on past the half way point in my 2017 December Daily Album with Days 12 and 13! I hope you will be patient with me as I recover from this stupid cold!

Let’s start with Day 12. Here is the layout as foundation pages:

Larkindecember | December Daily Album 2017 Days 12 and 13!!!

For the previous day I had removed the full page protector on the left and added an insert. For Day 12 I added one of the 4×8 foiled tags from Ali Edwards.

Larkindecember | December Daily Album 2017 Days 12 and 13!!!

On the back of the tag I adhered a photo of Addison placing his ornaments on the tree. I added my journaling on the right hand side and numbered the day using the wood veneer tree and black number stickers in the Paislee Press Mini Kit. The story for today is for Addison, who particularly loves hanging the ornaments every year!

Larkindecember | December Daily Album 2017 Days 12 and 13!!!

Here are the elements outside of the album:

Day 13 as a foundation page:

Larkindecember | December Daily Album 2017 Days 12 and 13!!!

This may be one of my all-time favorite layouts ever. For my story and photo I wanted to be sure to document what our wrapping papers and tags looked like this year, so I spread a few on the kitchen floor and snapped a couple of photos.

Larkindecember | December Daily Album 2017 Days 12 and 13!!!

There was a lovely transparency there already from Felicity Jane, with the number 13 already added. I positioned my photo underneath the number and then clustered my embellishments above the photo.

Larkindecember | December Daily Album 2017 Days 12 and 13!!!

One thing you will notice different from the process video is that I went back and added a few white splatters to this page! I didn’t capture that on film, but when I went to photograph this page, I realized it needed some white to tie in the photo border with the background paper.

I am loving this project so much again this year! I hope you are inspired as well!

{December Album 2011} Video No. 05

Hi everyone! Today I am sharing a little more of my 2011 December album with you! This is an album that I documented for back in 2011 as it was happening, but never was able to complete. I am so happy to share this process with you now, and I hope if you have albums you always wanted to go back and finish you will be inspired to go do it!

This video captured my process for two layouts, so let’s take a closer look! The first layout began with a photo of the boys playing Jedi light saber battles on the front porch of my apartment. I have used product mostly from the Felicity Jane Hello Christmas kit from 2016.

Larkindesign {December Album 2011} Video No. 05Larkindesign {December Album 2011} Video No. 05

My structure for this album is alternating pocket pages with patterned papers outside of the page protector. My photo is printed a tiny bit smaller than the pocket so I could back it with patterned paper and embellish around it.

Larkindesign {December Album 2011} Video No. 05Larkindesign {December Album 2011} Video No. 05

I absolutely love this star patterned paper so it became the backdrop for the full page spread. I added my journaling to a 3×4 card from the kit and then added a bit more embellishing and stitching.

Larkindesign {December Album 2011} Video No. 05Larkindesign {December Album 2011} Video No. 05

Turning the page, I began the next layout with photos from a PJ Skate Night for one of the kids’ schools. For this layout I used a combination of older products from my stash. Some I have no idea where they came from, but I do know the labels are Jillibean Soup, the patterned paper is My Mind’s Eye, the green card is One Little Bird, and the vellum and roller skate are Crate Paper.

Larkindesign {December Album 2011} Video No. 05Larkindesign {December Album 2011} Video No. 05

This layout was so much fun to make! The large photo went onto the polka dot paper along with the title on the label and simple journaling.

Larkindesign {December Album 2011} Video No. 05Larkindesign {December Album 2011} Video No. 05

For the pocket page, I created a sequin pocket using silver stars and red stitching to seal it all in. I also repeated the stitching on the green card to add a little contrast!

I hope these layouts have been fun and inspiring for you! Are you starting to feel the holiday excitement yet? We sure are here!

Traditional 12×12 Layout | Walk With Me ft. Maggie Holmes Carousel!!!!!!

Hi guys!!! I just could not wait to share this amazing layout with you! I took one of the photos we had from our recent trip to the NC mountains and the amazingly gorgeous Maggie Holmes Carousel collection and I hope you love it as much as I do!

Oh my goodness, I could not wait to share this layout with you! I am such a fan of Maggie Holmes’ collections and Carousel is a knock-out!!!! Take a look at what I did.

Larkindesign Traditional 12x12 Layout | Walk With Me ft. Maggie Holmes Carousel!!!!!!Larkindesign Traditional 12x12 Layout | Walk With Me ft. Maggie Holmes Carousel!!!!!!

I began with this giant starburst paper – the color is stunning and it provides a fantastic contrast with the green and blue in my photo. It also echoes the sentiment in the photo and my journaling!

Larkindesign Traditional 12x12 Layout | Walk With Me ft. Maggie Holmes Carousel!!!!!!Larkindesign Traditional 12x12 Layout | Walk With Me ft. Maggie Holmes Carousel!!!!!!

The kite paper was just begging to be cut up and included on the layout somehow, so I cut out two of them and created floating embellishment clusters going up the page. My design concept for this page is a very vertical kind of layout, leading your eye up and out.

Larkindesign Traditional 12x12 Layout | Walk With Me ft. Maggie Holmes Carousel!!!!!!Larkindesign Traditional 12x12 Layout | Walk With Me ft. Maggie Holmes Carousel!!!!!!

My design concept for this layout is to lead your eye up and out so I began with a stunning oversize title. I loved mixing the alphabets and the die cuts to create this title!

Larkindesign Traditional 12x12 Layout | Walk With Me ft. Maggie Holmes Carousel!!!!!!Larkindesign Traditional 12x12 Layout | Walk With Me ft. Maggie Holmes Carousel!!!!!!

My journaling echoes the sentiment of the title and the design concept: this idea that Alan and I are on a path of life together and the path is only going up and forward. Ever forward, towards the sun. I used some of the scalloped packaging for my journal card and then added a few tiny embellishments and sequins around it.

On the other side of my photo is this other little lovely embellishment cluster that includes a floral die cut, word sticker, glitter star, and more sequins. I also sprinkled some of those adorable pom poms around each embellishment cluster too, sort of like enamel dots!

Thank you for following along today! Are you just loving this collection as much as I am?! Share what you are creating, I would love to see!

Bermuda Layout No. 05 | On An Adventure!

Hi guys, today I am sharing the next layout in my Bermuda honeymoon album with you! Products I am using are a combination of Amy Tangerine plus Crate Paper Oasis!

Here is the full layout. I still had more photos from around the hotel I wanted to include in this album, so those are my jumping off point for the layout.

Larkindesign Bermuda Layout No. 05 | On An AdventureLarkindesign Bermuda Layout No. 05 | On An Adventure

The left hand side is a divided pocket page made of 3×3 squares that were begging for another full size photo. This amazing gazebo was built over the water on the hotel property and was simply magical! The only embellishment I added were the transparency card from Dear Lizzy Saturday and the gold hearts from Pink Paislee Take Me Away.

Larkindesign Bermuda Layout No. 05 | On An AdventureLarkindesign Bermuda Layout No. 05 | On An Adventure

The pinks and corals from the photos are what drove my decisions for selecting the journal cards, and all of Amy Tangerine’s collections use those colors so beautifully! I added just a few embellishments from Crate Paper Oasis as well, and they coordinate perfectly!

Larkindesign Bermuda Layout No. 05 | On An AdventureLarkindesign Bermuda Layout No. 05 | On An Adventure

My journaling focuses on how excited we were to get away by ourselves for a few days. It doesn’t happen often, with four kiddos and my parents being gone and his parents being far away. So this was incredibly special to us!

Larkindesign Bermuda Layout No. 05 | On An AdventureLarkindesign Bermuda Layout No. 05 | On An Adventure

The only card that is not from Amy Tangerine is the middle striped card, which is Dear Lizzy. It ties in all the colors of the layout and provides easy journaling lines, so it’s a win-win!

Project Life 2017 Week 07 | Embellishing the Hybrid Layout!!!

Hi guys, today I am sharing how I embellish my Project Life pages once they have been created and printed! This layout was created in Photoshop using the Lynn Grieveson Lots of Pockets templates and A Love Story collection from Paislee Press.

Our stories for this week included Valentine’s Day, unseasonably warm wonderful weather, and wonderful days together as a family. Most of the photos I included were taken while we romped in the sunshine, enjoying the warmth while it lasted. Then there are a few supporting photos from Valentines, plus a weather capture from my phone.

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 07 | Embellishing the Hybrid Layout!!!

I absolutely adore the collage feel this template gives the layout overall. There were so many awesome photos this week that it was hard to narrow it down. In the end this layout holds thirteen and I love every single one!

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 07 | Embellishing the Hybrid Layout!!!

I began with the focal point, the place your eye travels to first, and it is a photo looking up the street from our garage. Typically I leave lots of sky showing in these photos, but this time I left the pavement so it could be the base for the week and date.

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 07 | Embellishing the Hybrid Layout!!!

The word art I added in Photoshop made me really happy as well. They just add another easy layer!

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 07 | Embellishing the Hybrid Layout!!!

The right hand side centers around a secondary focal point created by this photo of Alan and me.

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 07 | Embellishing the Hybrid Layout!!!

The other photos on this side tell so many micro stories (a term coined by Ali Edwards to describe the smaller stories that make up the whole of a Project Life layout).

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 07 | Embellishing the Hybrid Layout!!!

Even though I had several typed journal spots in the layout, plus a few labels here and there, I still wanted to include hand-written journaling around the border of both pages. I love how it turned out and I especially love that I just captured some of my thoughts in process, some overall feelings about these photos and these days.

Thanks so much for being here and for following along on these layouts! See you soon!

Project Life 2016 Week 43 | ft. Maggie Holmes Gather!

Hi guys, today I am sharing my layout for Week 43 in my 2016 Project Life album! I created the layout in the Project Life App, printed it off at home, and then embellished on top using Maggie Holmes Gather.

My stories for this week included a robotics competition for our daughter Emberlynn and a wonderful afternoon spent with some dear friends from seminary. I had a combination of vertical + horizontal photos for this layout, so I used Design G in the Project Life App.

Larkindesign Project Life 2016 Week 43 | ft. Maggie Holmes Gather!Larkindesign Project Life 2016 Week 43 | ft. Maggie Holmes Gather!

When you use the Design G layout in the App, it gives you a layout that is 10″x12″, rather than the usual 12″x12″. Of course you can leave them that size, but I decided to add strips of patterned paper on each side, just to experiment and see how it looks!

Project Life 2016 Week 43 | ft. Maggie Holmes Gather!Project Life 2016 Week 43 | ft. Maggie Holmes Gather!

The strips on each side gave a fantastic home for additional embellishment clusters, and the leaves from the Maggie Holmes Gather collection are perfect. I particularly love how even though we did not have any photos from the robotics competition itself, Alan took these two quick snaps when he dropped her off. Just look at the excitement he captured on her face!

Project Life 2016 Week 43 | ft. Maggie Holmes Gather!Project Life 2016 Week 43 | ft. Maggie Holmes Gather!

The colors in the Project 52 core kit in the App were perfect for these photos, and the Gather collection carried those colors through as well – the navy, coral, and yellows are warm and happy!

Project Life 2016 Week 43 | ft. Maggie Holmes Gather!Project Life 2016 Week 43 | ft. Maggie Holmes Gather!

The chocolate muffins are totally random and just happened somewhere in the week, and I love that Project Life provides a home for those random but good memories! I also tried something different with my date card – I used the gold numbers from Gather and drew lines to designate the dates. I don’t know if it works or not, but it was fun to try and I love the pop of gold.

I had the pleasure of sharing lunch with two very dear friends of mine, Dr. Dora Mbuwayesango affectionately known as Dr. Dora (center below), and Andi Shores (right below). We shared classes and experiences and world views in seminary and getting to see them was fantastic!

Project Life 2017 Week 05 Layout | Embellishing the Digi Layout

Hey guys, it’s my layout for Week 05 in my 2017 Project Life album! Today I am sharing how I complete my digital layouts using physical products.

I am loving how these hybrid layouts are coming together this year! Have a look at the completed layout.

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 05 Layout | Embellishing the Digi Layout Using AC Hazelwood

This was a particularly quiet week and I only had a few photos to share. No exciting events, just a few random photos from around here and there. I love that Project Life allows the space for the random photos and that here, in these layouts, they all come together to tell the story of this particular week.

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 05 Layout | Embellishing the Digi Layout Using AC Hazelwood

My base layout was created using the Sahlin Studio Clean Lined Template and the March Memory Pockets Monthly kit called Roar. I love the colors in this kit and so I chose to repeat them through the physical embellishments as well!

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 05 Layout | Embellishing the Digi Layout Using AC Hazelwood

I also used the digital elements in the Roar kit, printed out and cut using my Silhouette. This is a great way to make your digital kits go further – typically I select my favorite ones, bring them into a blank page on my Silhouette, and then print on both cardstock and vellum.

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 05 Layout | Embellishing the Digi Layout Using AC Hazelwood

The right side of the layout features this lovely sunset photo and the title draws your eye right to that photo first. The journaling cards bring your eye around the page.

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 05 Layout | Embellishing the Digi Layout Using AC Hazelwood

I am loving the opportunities that Photoshop provides me to include journaling on my photos. I had been trying to figure out how to include that in my work flow, and now it is so easy while I am bringing the photos into the layout just to add a few words. It definitely makes big impact!

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 05 Layout | Embellishing the Digi Layout Using AC Hazelwood

These bright, fun journal cards are making me so happy here!

And that is Week 05! Thanks for following along! See you back here tomorrow.

Traditional Scrapbook Layout | You Are Beautiful feat. Crate Paper Oasis & Jane Davenport

Hi guys, today I am sharing another layout about myself about “Things I Need to Hear.” This is a traditional, mixed media layout using Crate Paper Oasis collection and Jane Davenport watercolors and stencil.

So last week I shared a layout about myself and some of the affirmations that I need to hear in my life right now. So many of you told me how much you really liked that layout and the concept of the layout, and I enjoyed making the layout too. So I decided I would definitely try to do more of that. Yay for 12×12 traditional layouts!

Larkindesign Traditional Scrapbook Layout | You Are Beautiful feat. Crate Paper Oasis %26 Jane DavenportLarkindesign Traditional Scrapbook Layout | You Are Beautiful feat. Crate Paper Oasis %26 Jane Davenport

I started this layout with the wood grain patterned paper from the Oasis collection. Oh you guys, it is gorgeous and while my first instinct is to hide it away and never use it, I promise I didn’t ruin it and I am sooo happy I used it. First I ran the patterned paper through my printer to get this really big title.

Larkindesign Traditional Scrapbook Layout | You Are Beautiful feat. Crate Paper Oasis %26 Jane DavenportLarkindesign Traditional Scrapbook Layout | You Are Beautiful feat. Crate Paper Oasis %26 Jane Davenport

Then I really wanted these florals from the Jane Davenport stencil around the title itself, so I used my modeling paste to achieve that.

Larkindesign Traditional Scrapbook Layout | You Are Beautiful feat. Crate Paper Oasis %26 Jane DavenportLarkindesign Traditional Scrapbook Layout | You Are Beautiful feat. Crate Paper Oasis %26 Jane Davenport

Then, because I love color and wanted to play with the Jane Davenport watercolors, I painted and swirled and dripped those beautiful colors all around the flowers themselves. Ah so pretty.

Larkindesign Traditional Scrapbook Layout | You Are Beautiful feat. Crate Paper Oasis %26 Jane DavenportLarkindesign Traditional Scrapbook Layout | You Are Beautiful feat. Crate Paper Oasis %26 Jane Davenport

And then I began to layer my photos and ephemera in the opposite corner of my title.

Larkindesign Traditional Scrapbook Layout | You Are Beautiful feat. Crate Paper Oasis %26 Jane DavenportLarkindesign Traditional Scrapbook Layout | You Are Beautiful feat. Crate Paper Oasis %26 Jane Davenport

My journaling reads as follows:

I know lots of people tried to tell you different, and that makes it hard to hear the truth. So here are a few reminders. Yes, you are beautiful.
