Hi everyone! Today I am finally able to share with you my process video for creating my December Daily album! One of my favorite parts of this project is making the album my very own. This year I am using the Simple Stories Merry album, along with a few embellishments from Felicity Jane and the number stickers from the Paislee Press mini kit.
Here is a closer look at my album:
I chose this album because it has a great spine size so hopefully all my pages will fit in as the month of December goes along. I also love that it has a darker pattern on it, which will show through just the tiniest bit once it is gessoed.
I applied two coats of gesso using a really old, textured brush to get as many brush strokes as possible. I apply the gesso really randomly and heavily, but even so the pattern underneath shows through just the tiniest bit.
I made sure to leave just snowflakes on the front showing through, so they are only covered with one coat of paint. Once everything was dry I added a few of the Felicity Jane patches using my hot glue gun. The date is added directly to the label holder on the spine with the Paislee Press numbers in that mini kit.
Ah, this is just perfection. Thanks for joining me today!
Hi everyone! Today I am sharing my last set of foundation pages in my 2017 December Daily Album! These were created using Felicity Jane Joy and a tiny bit of Hello Christmas from last year.
These are my foundation pages for Days 8, 20, 22, and 23.
Can you even believe how beautiful this black and white floral pattern is?! I am determined to use it rather than stash it away, so I cut it immediately and put it in the album. That first cut is the hardest, isn’t it?!
The vellum I chose for this day is just 6″ wide, so slightly shorter than the page protectors. I added a 2″ Avery tab and heat embossed the Be Merry sentiment so it is easier to turn that page.
For Days 22 and 23 I created a 2×2 pocket page using some of the tiniest embellishments to fill the pockets. The embellishments are also black and white, along with a few cork trees from Freckled Fawn and the black and white sequins from Teresa Collins. The simplicity is really striking – I love those page protectors most with the tiny embellishments!
My plan for Day 22 is to include the transparency directly over the photo as an overlay. The number is not adhered yet so it could go above or below the word, depending on how the photo is for that day.
That is the last in my foundation building series! I still have a final walk-through to share with you, plus I want to share how I created the album itself. Stay tuned!
Hi everyone! Today I am sharing another batch of Foundation Pages in my 2017 December Daily Album! I really wanted to be sure this year to use all the lovely collections I have purchased, so I am creating my foundation pages as product arrives. These pages were created using Pinkfresh Studio December Days. I hope you love them!
Here is the collection of foundation pages. These are the foundation pages for Days 7,15, 17, and 21.
The stamp I used above is the Paislee Press December stamp included in Ali Edwards’ 2017 product release this year.
Numbers are from Dear Lizzy.
The number 17 is from this year’s Felicity Jane Joy kit.
The number 21 is from the Ali Edwards Main Kit, and the washi tape is from Lidl.
I had so much fun working with this collection from Pinkfresh Studio! I’d love to hear how your foundation pages are coming along!
Hi everyone! I am working through my Foundation Pages in my December Album for 2017 and this one is especially fun! I am using the newest collection from Sahlin Studio called December, and you are going to want to run over there to pick it up!
I am so excited to share these pages with you, and cannot wait to start the actual month of December and fill this album with all our best memories!
My approach to creating foundation pages really is quite simple: 1 card for journaling, 1 card for a filler, and space for a photo or photos. Add a number (or don’t, either way!) and it’s done.
I already placed alternating pocket pages into the album – for this year I am using a full 6×8 page on one side, and divided on the other. Some of the full size pages will be photos, others will be templates or patterned papers. I love having options there!
Whenever I receive a collection that I want to use in my December album, I always go through my foundation pages and select a number of pages to use the product in. In this instance, the December collection is digital, so I print out my favorite cards first thing. I print out all the numbers so I have those ready to go as well. And then I add them into the pockets.
That is all for today! I still have several foundation pages I am still finishing up and will share with you next week!
Hi there!!!! Today I am sharing one last process video on how I have created my Foundation Pages in my 2016 December album. Now in the interest of full disclosure, I have not finished my foundation pages! But that really is ok, I am going to move forward with what I have and continue keeping it simple throughout the month of December. I am excited to share with you something in particular that I did in this set of pages: 2×2 squares using transparencies. Have a look at my process video here:
For Day 6 I chose some of the yellow and green cards included in the Ali Edwards kit (link will open in new window). I was drawn to the yellow because it is different and unexpected. For some reason that yellow photographed almost neon, but it is actually a creamy but vibrant yellow!
This photo is a little more true to the yellow! I also used a gold transparency from the Pinkfresh Studio Oh Joy collection, and the number 6 tag from last year’s Ali Edwards kit. The brad is from My Mind’s Eye.
Day 7 is across from Day 6, so I carried the yellow across with the patterned card and a simple journaling card.
What a bright, unexpected pop of color right here in the middle of all the reds and greens. So lovely!
For Day 8 it is back to red and black, and I honestly cannot wait for this day because this is the day Alan returns from Germany. It will be a quiet day because he will need rest from jet lag, but nonetheless I know we will be so happy to have him back home!!!!!
The only thing I have added to this day so far is the number 8. I am sure that I will want to add an embellishment to the Merry Everything card, but I will wait to see what particular feelings I want to capture that day.
Day 9 is particularly fun. I decided to divide up the middle 4×6 pocket into 2×2 squares and fill them with the transparency that came as part of the first orders when the December Daily kits were released. All of the 2×2 transparency pieces are in the pockets I created using my Fuse tool. The embellishments are all layered on top of the page protector.
Even though this was a process, getting all the 2×2’s the right size and the Fuse to seal properly (I went through about 3 page protectors to get it right!), it was worth it!

That is all for today! I have a Supply and Organization video I am preparing to share with you and I also want to share a walk-thru of all the Foundation Pages. I plan to begin my Daily process this Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, and then I will begin sharing my December Daily process videos next Sunday, once Alan has safely arrived in Germany. See you soon!
