Hi guys! Today I am sharing another layout in my Things I Need to Hear series. This is a mixed media layout using my Jane Davenport watercolors and stencils, and then papers and embellishments from Hazelwood.
I had a really quick fun selfie of myself in my studio and I knew I wanted to use my watercolors today, so those were my jumping off points. I used the Jane Davenport stencils with modeling paste to create the floral elements on my cardstock, and then filled them in with layers of watercolor.
I layered on patterned papers and embellishments around my photo using the Hazelwood collection from American Crafts, and added my title underneath the photo.
My journaling is a simple reminder to myself that even when the world makes us feel ugly, we are still lovely and still pretty.
Look at these dreamy colors.
I hope you feel lovely today, both inside and out. See you soon!
Hey guys, it’s my layout for Week 05 in my 2017 Project Life album! Today I am sharing how I complete my digital layouts using physical products.
I am loving how these hybrid layouts are coming together this year! Have a look at the completed layout.
This was a particularly quiet week and I only had a few photos to share. No exciting events, just a few random photos from around here and there. I love that Project Life allows the space for the random photos and that here, in these layouts, they all come together to tell the story of this particular week.
My base layout was created using the Sahlin Studio Clean Lined Template and the March Memory Pockets Monthly kit called Roar. I love the colors in this kit and so I chose to repeat them through the physical embellishments as well!
I also used the digital elements in the Roar kit, printed out and cut using my Silhouette. This is a great way to make your digital kits go further – typically I select my favorite ones, bring them into a blank page on my Silhouette, and then print on both cardstock and vellum.
The right side of the layout features this lovely sunset photo and the title draws your eye right to that photo first. The journaling cards bring your eye around the page.
I am loving the opportunities that Photoshop provides me to include journaling on my photos. I had been trying to figure out how to include that in my work flow, and now it is so easy while I am bringing the photos into the layout just to add a few words. It definitely makes big impact!
These bright, fun journal cards are making me so happy here!
And that is Week 05! Thanks for following along! See you back here tomorrow.
Hi guys, today I am so excited to begin working in my Project Life 2017 album starting with Week 01!!!! I love this project so much and love sharing my process with you all. Have a look at this video:
Here is my completed layout, which began with a template from Paislee Press and journaling cards plus patterned papers called Happy.
Typically I begin my layout with the date card, and this week was no different. I used alphas from Heart Day, a word art from the Happy collection, and the alphabet stamp from One Canoe Two to embellish this card.
ur stories from this week included replacing my printer and purchasing a brand new Canon Pixma printer, which I am absolutely in love with. We also saw Snow-pocalypse and visited one of my favorite restaurants which opened up on Charlotte. Lots of good things happening.
I used the patterned papers in the Happy kit in several different places throughout the layout. Two are used to create the background – I chose two that had subtle colors and subtle patterns just to add a tiny bit of visual interest. For the filler card here I layered the word art over a bolder, bright patterned paper with fun circles. The puffy hearts from Elle’s Studio just make me happy layered on top!
One thing I want to do differently this year is to use different templates within the frames of my layouts. The Pocket Guides from Paislee Press provide tons of opportunities to add photos + journaling into each layout. Love love love.
The right hand side of my layout began with an enlarged photo of our street covered in snow. Our roads looked like this for three days before snow plows ever touched it, which is typical for North Carolina. But it was pretty to look at!
A little journaling in my own handwriting is a necessity, so I left one card free to add that. Nothing complicated here, just a few sentences.
Again using a photo template to add three photos to this one card which tells the story of how my favorite restaurant, la Madeleine, finally opened locations in NC! We used to have to go all the way to Alexandria to eat there, but now it is only an hour and a half away. Also notice our cat sprawled across the chair and pillows…this was how he stayed for like three days when it snowed.
So that is my very first layout in my 2017 Project Life album! See you back here again soon!
