Project Life 2018 Week 14 Part B | Travel Layout From Savannah!

Hello lovelies, today I am sharing Part B from my layout for Week 14 in my 2018 Project Life album. I started this layout last week and split it into two parts since it has an insert. This is a hybrid Project Life layout, and I am continuing to use The Lilypad Wander collection from the June Memory Pockets Monthly kit. If you would like to see all the layouts I have published in this album, you may follow this link here. Have a look at my layout!

Here is a look at the first part of this layout, which included our Easter photos. You will find more information about this layout and the process video here.

2018 Hybrid Project Life Week 14A ft. The Lilypad MPM Wander June Kit

I absolutely love scrapbooking travel photos, and this trip had so many really good photo opportunities. Choosing the photos I wanted to include was a bit of a challenge, but I always ask myself what are the photos that convey the stories I want to tell about myself and my family? The answer for me has always come back to relationships, so I look for the photos that show the ways we share relationships with each other. Our trip to Savannah was short, but the highlights were definitely going to the beach and visiting the Children’s Museum.

Project Life 2018 Week 14 Part B | Travel Layout From Savannah!

I currently have all of my recent collections from Crate Paper on my desk as I am working on the Bermuda album, so I have pulled from those collections to add my embellishments for this layout.

Project Life 2018 Week 14 Part B | Travel Layout From Savannah!

This photo of our boys tells an awesome story for me. I know that, at ages 13 and 14, they are outgrown the children’s areas and activities that we did for so many years. But they enjoyed walking around this museum and played with some of the life-size games and had such a good time. This is a favorite photo because they are such awesome friends, these two, and I also love the perspective of seeing how tall they are getting now, and how grown up.

Project Life 2018 Week 14 Part B | Travel Layout From Savannah!

I left my photos mostly untouched, allowing them to tell the stories in their own right. I am just here to tell you that with the kids getting so big, Alan and I are definitely outnumbered and we may need some help over here with these teenagers!

Project Life 2018 Week 14 Part B | Travel Layout From Savannah!

Just a few thoughts about my color choices on this layout: The photos themselves had a lot of greens, blues, and reds (coral), so I have pulled those colors from the Wander collection. The pink/coral/red contrasts beautifully with the blues and happen to be my favorites. It was really easy to use this collection and I am loving how it works!

Project Life 2018 Week 14 Part B | Travel Layout From Savannah!

I have done a lot with circles on this layout, and then for my journal card I broke that tradition by writing my journaling around the edges of the card.

Project Life 2018 Week 14 Part B | Travel Layout From Savannah!

I filmed my process for this layout, which you can view here as well.

These are definitely two favorite layouts and I am so glad to have this trip documented in a really simple, quick and beautiful way! Thank you for joining me today!

Project Life 2017 Week 18 | ft. The Lilypad MPM July Kit Snapshots!!

Hi guys! In this video I am sharing my digital process in Photoshop CC for creating my 2017 Project Life layout for Week 18.

This is the hybrid portion of my 2017 Project Life Week 18 layout, where I embellish the printed layout!

Let’s take a look at the layout overall. Since it seemed like I was light on photos this week I used some templates that were designed for 6×8 and enlarged them to 9×12. The remaining margins were left white with two embellishment clusters.

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 18 | ft. The Lilypad MPM July Kit Snapshots!!Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 18 | ft. The Lilypad MPM July Kit Snapshots!!

I began with the date card, using the rubber word from the Studio Calico May Documenter kit. I layered the numbers onto a label and added the purple puffy heart and happy emoji.

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 18 | ft. The Lilypad MPM July Kit Snapshots!!Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 18 | ft. The Lilypad MPM July Kit Snapshots!!

One of the embellishment clusters lives on the lower left hand side, next to the photo. The camera is from the MPM kit and the vellum heart + acrylic star are Elle’s Studio.

Our stories this week included flowers from my lovely husband, an awesome date night, another Sunday afternoon playing Dungeons & Dragons, and my totally cute purse! Just the usual, but always fun to document.

On the right hand side I repeated another embellishment cluster, this time with a vellum star and acrylic heart. I also used my favorite washi tape as journal lines trick on this layout. I chose mint green and navy to repeat colors in the kit.

Project Life 2017 Week 10

Hi guys, today I am sharing my hybrid process for Week 10 in my 2017 Project Life album! I have combined my digital and physical process, and if you wish to skip past the digital part you can click to the 12-minute mark to get to the physical embellishing. This week I am working with Sahlin Studio Clean Lined Pockets, the April MPM Renew kit from The Lilypad, and physical embellishments from Elle’s Studio and the Freckled Fawn April kit.

Our stories for this week included SPRING! Lots and lots of flowers beginning to pop after so much rain and the girls are already playing in the sprinklers, so that means bathing suit purchases. We added two trees to our front flower bed and it always makes me to happy to include photos from our humble front yard. Also, there are always happy cats just being, well, cats.

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 10

My date card ended up a little different than planned on this week’s layout. My original thought was to use the top journal card as the date card, but then I wanted more room for journaling.

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 10

I couldn’t resist the April releases at Elle’s Studio so I ordered a few of their acrylic shapes, wood veneer pieces, and a stamp set. Their embellishments really are fun!

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 10

We had been talking about adding a taller tree to the corner of the house for quite a long time, and this week we did it. We had to expand the flower bed and the stone border a bit, and we also added more pine straw and freshened everything up a bit. I love the fact that we built these original flower beds ourselves as part of the Sweat Equity program, and we have filled them a little bit more each year with plants and flowers that bring us joy every day. It’s so awesome!

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 10

To Alan’s credit, our yard would not be what it is without him. He does so much of the heavy lifting and the planting and he is actually the green thumb between us! I love capturing this part of our relationship.

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 10

The date card ended up being on the bottom right hand side this week, and I love using the large photo as the home base for the date. Notice I did not add the actual dates to this layout, only the week number!

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 10

The photo of me and Natalie is a quick selfie we took on our way to Pastries with Parents at her school, and I am realizing now that I did not really caption that. I really am working on that this year – I am finding that including more photos creates more opportunities to journal more but I am overlooking some of those opportunities! And that is ok, no judgment there but something that I want to continue to be aware of and take a little more time each week to include captions for each photo in some way.

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 10

Of course, not all photos need a caption and I don’t always remember the context of each photo as well, and that is ok too. I think what I am finding is that sometimes I do my journaling in Photoshop and purposely leave some of the journaling to be done by hand, and then I forget when I go back. Ah the joys of being all over the place in my head! Again, this is not a criticism but simply an assessment that is constantly part of my process – looking back over the layout and seeing what is working and what isn’t, and then making an effort next time.

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 10

All in all this is a really fun layout and I loved pulling it together, and I am so happy to share my process with you here. I would love to hear your thoughts about journaling in hybrid layouts, how do you try to include both digital journaling and hand-written journaling on your layouts?

See you soon,

Theresa

Project Life 2017 Week 08 | A Hybrid Scrapbook Layout

Hi guys! Today I am embellishing my digital layout I created yesterday for Week 08 in my 2017 Project Life album! I kept this very simple with only the printables from the MPM Renew kit and a couple of hearts and arrows. Seriously, that simple.

Here is the completed layout:

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 08 | A Hybrid Scrapbook Layout

Notice how my embellishments tie the whole layout together. In one quick instant the date stands out from the page and leads your eye across the layout.

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 08 | A Hybrid Scrapbook Layout

To keep the embellishing very simple, I used the printables from the Renew MPM kit and just a few hearts and arrows.

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 08 | A Hybrid Scrapbook Layout

The right hand side features this hilarious confession of a little girl’s indiscretion at school. Her father sent me this photo and I am so happy he did!

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 08 | A Hybrid Scrapbook Layout

Alan had a business trip to Boston that week, just a short one. In the past I have documented heavily when he was gone, but this was a short trip so not many photos were taken. I love the little wooden arrows just for another texture on the layout.

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 08 | A Hybrid Scrapbook Layout

The stamped sentiments were created using older Gossamer Blue stamp sets from last year added to printed labels from the Renew collection. One little trick: when you download a digital kit that includes labels, print them in duplicates on a 4×6 sheet, cut them out, and then keep them on your desk so you always have labels that you need!

Project Life 2017 Week 05 Layout | Embellishing the Digi Layout

Hey guys, it’s my layout for Week 05 in my 2017 Project Life album! Today I am sharing how I complete my digital layouts using physical products.

I am loving how these hybrid layouts are coming together this year! Have a look at the completed layout.

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 05 Layout | Embellishing the Digi Layout Using AC Hazelwood

This was a particularly quiet week and I only had a few photos to share. No exciting events, just a few random photos from around here and there. I love that Project Life allows the space for the random photos and that here, in these layouts, they all come together to tell the story of this particular week.

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 05 Layout | Embellishing the Digi Layout Using AC Hazelwood

My base layout was created using the Sahlin Studio Clean Lined Template and the March Memory Pockets Monthly kit called Roar. I love the colors in this kit and so I chose to repeat them through the physical embellishments as well!

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 05 Layout | Embellishing the Digi Layout Using AC Hazelwood

I also used the digital elements in the Roar kit, printed out and cut using my Silhouette. This is a great way to make your digital kits go further – typically I select my favorite ones, bring them into a blank page on my Silhouette, and then print on both cardstock and vellum.

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 05 Layout | Embellishing the Digi Layout Using AC Hazelwood

The right side of the layout features this lovely sunset photo and the title draws your eye right to that photo first. The journaling cards bring your eye around the page.

I am loving the opportunities that Photoshop provides me to include journaling on my photos. I had been trying to figure out how to include that in my work flow, and now it is so easy while I am bringing the photos into the layout just to add a few words. It definitely makes big impact!

These bright, fun journal cards are making me so happy here!

And that is Week 05! Thanks for following along! See you back here tomorrow.

Project Life 2014 September Round Up Layout

Hi guys, today I am sharing a layout from my 2014 Project Life album for the month of September. That month was one of those crazy busy months where I ended up with very few photos, so I created one quick spread for my album. Have a look at my process here:

I created this layout using the Sahlin Studio Photo Rounds Days and The Lilypad Memory Pockets Monthly collection for February called Crush.

Larkindesign Project Life 2014 September Round Up Layout

or the month of September in 2014 our lives consisted of moving, going to Lowe’s hardware for something related to the house, and eating out while we continued to settle into the new house. That time in our lives was all about a new normal, and it was great.

Larkindesign Project Life 2014 September Round Up Layout

The left hand side of my layout includes a couple of photos from restaurants and a selfie of me in the car. I chose some of the really fun journal cards from the Crush collection and printed them out on my Canon Pixma printer.

Larkindesign Project Life 2014 September Round Up Layout

For my journaling I decided to write about general observations about what I remember from that month and what I see reflected in the photos. While it is nice to be able to journal pretty soon after events occur, that isn’t always possible. That doesn’t have to be overwhelming, but rather just write about what you see in your photos.

Larkindesign Project Life 2014 September Round Up Layout

To mark some of the days of the week I wanted to use the Photo Rounds but I wanted them to have a tiny bit of color. I added circles of color behind each one, just a tiny bit larger than the element itself, and printed them out on vellum. I love the pop of color on the edges!

Larkindesign Project Life 2014 September Round Up Layout

Larkindesign Project Life 2014 September Round Up Layout

The right hand side includes photos from our every day life including a new routine in the mornings, lots of trips to Lowe’s, and new chore charts. Oh, and yes, food again!

Larkindesign Project Life 2014 September Round Up Layout

Now, the journal cards in the Crush collection are so cool, they can absolutely be left as they are. But I do love physical embellishments for the texture and dimension they add to my layouts. I am also loving the pops of gold from the foam alphabet Thickers. I am still using my Build Your Own Kit (BYOK) that includes products from Elle’s Studio, One Canoe Two Hazelwood, and Crate Paper Heart Day.

Larkindesign Project Life 2014 September Round Up Layout

I love the photo of Natalie cleaning the mirror. This mirror actually was a wedding gift from my first marriage to her father (now my ex-husband). There is more to that story than meets the eye, but I love that I captured her view here.

That is all for today! See you again soon!

Project Life 2016 Week 41 | Sahlin Studio Creative Team

Hi guys, today I am sharing my process video for Week 41 in my 2016 Project Life album. I love this project so much and am ready to finish already, just a few more weeks to go. Have a look!

Ok I absolutely loved using the Crush collection from The Lilypad. The colors are so bright and happy, and even though it is a Valentine’s collection, this fall layout makes me so happy!

Larkindesign Project Life 2016 Week 41

I created this layout in the Project Life App by bringing my journaling cards in through Dropbox. Once they were in place, I brought the layout into Letterglow so I could add the Sahlin Studio Photo Rounds on top of the frames.

Larkindesign Project Life 2016 Week 41

ur activities for the week included giving Natalie her very own December Daily kit and Hurricane Matthew. We only got rain from it, no really bad winds or anything, but Alan and I ended up going to the grocery store right in the middle of it!

Larkindesign Project Life 2016 Week 41

The currently card is simply a white filler card from within the App, and the word art layered on top in Letterglow.

Larkindesign Project Life 2016 Week 41

This filler card is just layers of fun elements from the Crush kit plus two chipboard hearts from the Hazelwood chipboard set. So fun and easy!

Larkindesign Project Life 2016 Week 41

Once the rains cleared we were able to go for walks again. These are how we try to maintain some semblance of sanity, although the jury might be out whether we are successful at that or not! Ha!

Larkindesign Project Life 2016 Week 41

Natalie wrote us a love note and put it on the fridg for us all to find. It’s so much fun to include these little details in the context of the whole week.

Larkindesign Project Life 2016 Week 41

This project is so much fun every year and I love how it is evolving for me. See you back here again soon!

Project Life 2017 | Introduction Chat and Layout!!!!

Hello and welcome to a brand new year and a brand new album series, my 2017 Project Life. Today I am sharing with you my plans for this year in my memory-keeping and I also am creating my introduction layout. Have a look here:

So my plans are for the new year to create more digital layouts using Photoshop CC! I am excited to announce that I am an Adobe affiliate now and you will see a new link in the sidebar. What that means is that if you click on the Adobe link and decide to subscribe to the Photoshop CC suite, I get a small commission from your purchase. I also hope to share more tutorials on the blog this year including Photoshop tutorials, so you can see more of my process that way!

I created my Introduction layout and chose a simple photo of my husband and myself together, and then chose journaling cards from the Diary collection in the Memory Pocket Monthly kit plus the Calendar card from Sahlin Studio.

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Introduction Layout

These Calendar cards are gorgeous, have you had a chance to purchase them yet? They are a must-have for Project Life this year.

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Introduction Layout

I love the manifesto I created using the roller stamps from Becky Higgins and Maggie Holmes. I am not a resolutions kind of girl, but all of these things are how I want to live this year.

Happy new Project Life, everyone! See you again soon!

Project Life 2016 | Weeks 36 & 38 Feat. Pink Paislee Moonstruck!!!

Hi there! Today I have two separate layouts to share with you and I thought I would just combine them into the same process so we can get things done! I am sharing Weeks 36 and 38 in my 2016 Project Life album. Have a look at my process here:

Let’s begin with Week 36, which I created in the Project Life App using the Project 52 cards available in the app. I then embellished on top of the printed layout, using Pink Paislee Moonstruck.

Larkindesign Project Life 2016 | Week 36

I used the date card for this week and then embellished using one of the floral ephemera from the Moonstruck pack.

Larkindesign Project Life 2016 | Week 36

I had a combination of colors in my photos for this week, and a set color scheme from the Project Life cards. The Moonstruck collection pulled all of these colors together beautifully!

Larkindesign Project Life 2016 | Week 36

This bloom is one of the flowers we have planted out by our mailbox. Some days we aren’t sure if it is making it or not, but then it surprises us and gives us a pretty bloom.

Larkindesign Project Life 2016 | Week 36

One of my favorite things about my husband is that he is a great baker. He loves to make biscuits sometimes, and this was a great opportunity to include that in our album. Also, he is using a ramekin to cut the dough circles, and my mom used to use those ramekins when she made her biscuits. Definitely a full circle.

Larkindesign Project Life 2016 | Week 36

I have to say that the cork elements in the Moonstruck collection add the loveliest texture and just a sparkle of gold. I don’t use a lot of cork, and last time Pink Paislee released cork elements I did not get them. I regretted that, so this time I did buy them!

Larkindesign Project Life 2016 | Week 36

I made a traditional layout about this photo already, and then I also included it here. It is one of my favorites.

Larkindesign Project Life 2016 | Week 36

Ok, on to the right hand side, which is Week 38. Did you notice in the process video that I kept thinking it was Week 40? It is a miracle that I stamped the date correctly! Ha!

Larkindesign Project Life 2016 | Week 38

This layout was created using the Timeless Memory Pocket Monthly digital collection available at The Lilypad. I always save my digital elements in Dropbox and bring them into the Project Life App just like a photo.

Larkindesign Project Life 2016 | Week 38

I think my favorite thing about this week’s layout is how the border color coordinates to well with the Moonstruck elements and the journal cards. Lots of beautiful color here, and I love it all!

Larkindesign Project Life 2016 | Week 38

The photos I included on this layout were some quick snaps we took on one of our walks around the neighborhood. Our neighborhood is still being completed, so we have construction around us and the landscape changes sometimes. Where we are standing for these photos was the ending of a side street on that day. The next day all that was removed and a through street is being created!

Larkindesign Project Life 2016 | Week 38

For this filler card I felt like the pattern was bold and so the embellishments should be very minimal. A gold title and simple butterfly is all that is needed.

Larkindesign Project Life 2016 | Week 38

A little journaling here, and a cat photo of Nico. I love having a place for these random photos that might otherwise just get left on my hard drive.

Larkindesign Project Life 2016 | Week 38

One more photo of the two of us and this layout is complete.

Larkindesign Project Life 2016 | Week 38

I am so happy to be able to share these layouts with you, and I am so thankful that you are following along with me on the journey of 2016. See you soon!

~Theresa
