Hybrid Project Life |2017 Week 15 ft. The Lilypad Memory Pockets Monthly June Curious

Hi guys! This is part 1 for my hybrid layout for Week 15 in my 2017 Project Life album, the digital portion in Photoshop. In this video I will share my process for creating the digital layout and the following video will be my process for embellishing the printed layout!

Once my layout is created in Photoshop, I print the layout using my Canon wide format printer onto Staples brand matte photo paper. Then the fun of embellishing begins! Have a look at that process video here:

Here is a look at the full layout!

I was really excited to use this date card – those angles are great opportunities to add the alphas and numbers! I also added a transparent flower from Freckled Fawn into the white space.

Our stories this week began with Spring Break and the highlight of the week was our adventure to Dave & Busters to play video games ALL DAY LONG! We also spent some time at the park, went to McDonald’s, and watched April the giraffe finally have her little baby!

The layout this week is photo heavy, which is really awesome and that means I like to keep the embellishing light. Just a few floral elements and stamped elements here and there, plus some added hand written journaling.

I am loving using some of the smaller photos with a solid color background and text beside. It also gives the layout some added visual interest!

For this photo of the girls I backed it with a journal card instead of journaling. I just love everything about it – the dreamy photo and the fun pattern plus the happy heart. All the good things!

Look how grown up they are all getting! I know I have spoken before about how great it is to be proud of the environment you are photographing in (ie your house!), and this photo is proof of that. Our house is not perfect by any means, but we have worked hard to make it a comfortable place to be and also a pretty back drop for our photos. I love that!

Did you notice how I used the numbered journal card to create a manifesto of sorts? I simply stamped all of the word strips on the Becky Higgins roller stamp for a fun filler card.

Do you include current events on your Project Life layouts? I admit I don’t very often, but I did grab a few screen shots of April and her baby giraffe and included it here. That was such a fun event to follow along and I feel like I learned so much about giraffes in that process, did you?

Creating Hybrid Layouts | Bermuda Honeymoon Album Layout No. 08 ft. Paislee Press Tour Guide!!!!

Hi guys, today I am sharing two videos all together for you!!!! First is my Photoshop tutorial for how to print your hybrid layouts. Second is my process for putting together the hybrid layout once I have printed out all the elements and papers. I am using two collections from Paislee Press: Tour Guide and Memory Keepers.

There were two layouts completed in today’s process video, first have a look at the hybrid layout. Photos are taken at the Royal Naval Dockyard in Bermuda.

I hope seeing the whole process of designing, printing, and then assembling the hybrid layout was helpful for you! I am loving creating layouts this way and using digital products but still being able to experience the depth and dimension of physical products in my hand!

This was a super fun pocket page to put together as well, about our experiences on a island scooter. Our favorite thing the entire week (and still!) is referring to them as scooter of doom and delight. We were warned when we rented them that we could get hurt, and that many tourists do get hurt, so I was terrified. Alan insisted we would be fine and he absolutely loved them.

I loved using the templates from the Tour Guide collection to add more photos to this layout. s much as I was afraid of the scooters, we still had such a great time and saw so many beautiful places on the island because of our scooter. Definitely a central part of the honeymoon story!

I know I keep saying every layout that this photo is my favorite from the trip. We could have one heck of a drinking game for every time I have said it! But this one of us in our helmets is absolutely priceless! Such great memories!

Even though I consider these layouts somewhat individual, I thought I would share what they look like together in the album itself. So much fun, such awesome pops of color here!

Photoshop Tutorial No. 03 | Resizing 12×12 Templates to 12×24 for Project Life

Hi everyone! Life has been moving at the speed of light this week! I am happy to be feeling better and am slowly getting back into routine. Today I am sharing a tutorial for using 12×12 templates as 12×24, so have a look:

The template I have been working with in this video is by Sahlin Studio and is available for free right now on her website here: Sahlin Studio February Template.

I know I typically include a short summary of what is included in the video, but I am simply not able to do that today. I hope to share the actual layout I created later this weekend, so stay tuned for that!

Photoshop CC Tutorial No 01 | Basic Tools for Using PS in Memory Keeping

Hi there, today I am sharing the first video tutorial on how I use Photoshop CC in my memory keeping projects, particularly in Project Life. I use Photoshop pretty much every day to help me create my layouts – everything from storing and organizing photos, editing photos, printing photos and digital papers, cards, and elements, and creating layouts themselves. Have a look at today’s tutorial:

I hope that was helpful to you and as always, please let me know if you have any questions. I also want to summarize a little of what was covered in the video here. I began my sharing my layout in my Project Life 2017 album for this week as it is prepped for printing. Tomorrow I will share with you my process for adding my embellishments.

Photoshop CC Tutorial No 01 | Basic Tools for Using PS in Memory Keeping

What I love most about working with my Project Life layouts in Photoshop is obviously the ability to see the entire layout at once and to bring in all the elements and photos into one screen. The layout above was created using a template from Paislee Press which is available at The Lilypad (link opens in new window). This means lots of layers, and this layout above might look a little overwhelming to beginners. This is our goal, this is where we are going – I hope through my tutorials to help you learn how to create layouts like this and use templates and basic tools in Photoshop to be able to do this as well. But for today, we will back up and start with some basic photo editing.

Photoshop CC Tutorial No 01 | Basic Tools for Using PS in Memory Keeping

First I shared with you how I have my photos for 2017 organized. My first folder is for the entire month of January. Within that folder I have folders for each week, and also the folder where my iPhone brings in the photos automatically when I download them. I have not used my DSLR yet, but when I do, I will create another folder for the event that I am downloading from that camera. Now, the great thing about storing them like this is this: when I know that I am going to be out and about and want to edit photos on my phone, or am wanting to create a layout using the App, I can just copy and paste a week’s folder into my Dropbox and go. This is how I make these folders work for me.

Photoshop CC Tutorial No 01 | Basic Tools for Using PS in Memory Keeping

Now, inside each week’s folder are all the photos I took for that particular week, so when I open that folder, I know exactly which photos I can choose from in order to tell the stories of that week. So at first glance I am already gathering thoughts about that layout, how many photos I will be including, and a general direction of the layout itself. I love this – it keeps my decision making simple. I think for the layout for this week I decided I had about 7-10 photos to use, and three good stories.

I also shared some basic tools that I use for editing my photos in Photoshop. There are lots of days where I edit quickly on my phone using A Color Story, but sometimes I haven’t had time to do that when I am building my page. Now, one caveat: I do not believe in taking tons of time to edit photos. There are just way too many more important things to do in life, right? But the two basic edits I shared were brightening the photo and straightening the photo. Simple, quick, and pretty.

Now, if you have used Becky Higgins’ Project Life templates in the past, then you are very familiar with this template! This is Template A, and it is available on her website in the digital section. In fact, Design A which is what I am using here, is available to download for free using this link here: Becky Higgins Project Life Template Design A (opens in a new window). I highly recommend beginning with her templates because they are relatively simple and you can see that they aren’t very complicated at all. This is a good place to begin working with templates.

Photoshop CC Tutorial No 01 | Basic Tools for Using PS in Memory Keeping

In the video I shared some basic ways to use the Layers tools to bring in photos and cards into the frames to help you build your layout. So this is a basic beginning tutorial sharing how I use Photoshop CC to help me create Project Life layouts. We will continue building on this in the next few weeks, and tomorrow I plan to share with you my process video for embellishing my Project Life layout for Week 1. See you soon!
