Traveler’s Notebook: An Introduction and my July Set-Up!!!!

Hi you guys and welcome to my newest adventure in scrapbook-land, my Traveler’s Notebook!!!!! I had a bit of an A-HA moment about a month ago and realized how cool these notebooks are. Have a look at my first process video and how I decided to set up my notebook for the month of July:

That was a long video, I know, but my hope is that it was filled with information and ideas and some other resources as you go about your own creative process! I have just a few photos to show you. I decided to begin a traveler’s notebook when I was researching ways to document our upcoming trip to Charleston. Well, sometimes research leads you somewhere and you never are really the same. That is how I feel about my traveler’s notebook. My world has been forever changed and how I journal and how I document my life just got interesting!

I chose to order the Webster’s Pages Color Crush notebook, and I ordered three inserts from Yellow Paper House to go inside. I have added a tassel from Dear Lizzy and a copper medallion from Tim Holtz to the little tag that came with the notebook. Each tag says a different thing, and mine says Planner Girl.

This is what my notebook looks like when it is opened. I have a few shaped paper clips, my journaling strips from Ali Edwards Believe Story Kit, and two of the sticky notes from Fancy Pants Attwell collection. You can see my inserts which have now been covered with papers from my Gossamer Blue June kits, namely Pinkfresh Studio and Simple Stories. The washi tape and black summer clip are from Freckled Fawn’s June planner kit.

My first insert is my planner insert, and it is a Daily planner from Yellow Paper House. This is what it looks like when you open it. The stamps are from Gossamer Blue and Kerri Bradford. The washi tapes are from Hobby Lobby.

The daily planner insert has a month view calendar in it, but I needed a little more space so I created my own and adhered it on top of the existing calendar. Nothing fancy, just a simple Excel spreadsheet formatted to fit across the two fold-outs.

This calendar is mostly used to help me plan my blog posts and videos, so I can keep up with what I plan to publish and what has been accomplished on each release.

I don’t intend to show you each page, because that could be rather tedious (!) but these are a few that I created.

My goal was to add a few washi tapes and some watercolors just to add a little color and visual interest.

Throughout the month I will be adding my daily task lists and some journaling as well to complete the pages.

My plan each month is to show you a set-up post like today, and then come back once the month is finished to show you how it ended up.

As I mentioned in my video today, we are going to be gone on vacation next week in Charleston, SC! So my normal videos will not be released, however I will be showing you some process videos from my Gardener’s Notebook on Tuesday and Thursday! Then I will be back the following week with a full production schedule. I hope you all have a great weekend!

See you soon,

Simple Planner 2016 Vol 02

Ok I am going to start with a slight disclaimer: my plan was to create planner layouts that are simple, but I am not so sure this week’s layout is quite so simple! But I love it and it is bright and fun and inspiring. Take a look here:

So I had already misted the pages with Heidi Swapp’s spray mist and a star stencil from Crafter’s Workshop. I went through my washi tapes and found my Dear Lizzy Fine & Dandy washi, and that led me to pull out that entire collection to embellish with.

I think when Elizabeth Kartchner designed this line, she must have been thinking about planners too, because there are actually a couple of cute pieces in the collection that are great for planners. I started with the washi tape that says Fine & Dandy. Then I added a gold 5 so I can keep up with the week we are in.

At the top of the page I added a round sentiment from the collection and a green polka dot washi strip.

For each of the days I laid down the washi tape and used a set of numbers that came from Ali Edwards’ Heart Story kit this month. I also added heart and star stickers next to each of the numbers. They go perfect right there.

I also used glitter letters to note the days of the week. Thin washi separates each day.

For the dashboard I used the list portion of the washi tape and I clipped a floral embellishment to the side. (Not so) Simple but done and lovely. Ready for the busy week ahead.

I hope you have a great week this week. Some fun stuff planned for this week to share with you! Now go, do and create!

See you soon!

Simple Planner Vol 01

Hi there and welcome to a brand new series on my blog called The Simple Planner! I’m so excited to jump into this area of papercrafting and have actually been prepping and planning for a while. My concept going into this is probably a bit unique: I see so many beautiful but elaborate planner pages and my honest thought is that I hate to put all those supplies to use for just one week. But I also love using my planner every week, and I also know that seeing pages that we love can help inspire us creatively in all our other areas of life. So I bit the bullet and am now embellishing my planner pages. But one small caveat: I am doing it simply. Take a look:

So to begin with, I took all of January’s calendar pages and sprayed them with a few of my favorite stencils and spray mists. So each page starts with a very understated, simple pattern of color!

I added a gold glitter tape across the top, to add a bit of stability to the pages and for a bit of bling.

For the heading and for the dates I used Heidi Swapp’s date stamp.

So that I can keep up with what week I’m on for Project Life, I added a label and the Week 4.

Simple Planner Vol 01

Then I plan to use my dashboard for my To-Do list. Mainly I use this to list my upcoming blog posts and videos.

Simple Planner Vol 01

I also added a shaped tab to the dashboard, so I know easily where I’m at in the planner. That is a label from Fancy Pants that is stapled into an Avery tab directly onto the transparency. Of course you know I had to have a transparent element in here somewhere!

So let me know in the comments what you think about this way of embellishing your planner, ok.jpg” alt=” alt=”Simple Planner Vol 01″/>”/>
