Hi everyone, today I am sharing a layout from my 2018 Project Life album for Week 07. I am using the Larkindesign Grow Deeper Roots collection, available in my shop, and also the Dear Lizzy Stay Colorful collection. Have a look at my process here.
Here is the completed layout.
Our stories for this week included Valentine’s Day, NAL competition for Nick, visits to s friends’ house for Addison, date night, and every day life.
The left hand side begins with the date card, which is one of the patterned papers from Grow Deeper Roots. I have layered it with a photo template that will be released in April, so stay tuned for that!
I decided to pull the purple elements from the kit and love how it looks on the layout. The other colors of pink and teal and light blue add a soft beauty to it.
Each month I design two sheets of printable elements to go with the collections. These are tags, labels, and other embellishments you can print and cut using your die cutting machine or just fussy cut if you don’t have a cutting machine. These add the perfect little something to the photos and journaling cards, and I am loving the flat pages right now.
I’ve also used a few tiny wood veneer hearts around the page. Those are from Felicity Jane.
The wreath card is from February’s kit, The Heart Is Home. Also notice how I used the green card, but layered purple over it to coordinate best with the layout.
Our Valentine’s Day was celebrated a few days later, as Nick and Natalie were at their Dads on that day. When they got back we gave them their chocolates and gifts, which is what they are doing around the dining room table. They are mildly obsessed with Kinder eggs right now, so that was one of the things they got and I took a photo of one as well. Too funny!
As I was printing my photos and writing out my journaling, if occurred to me this is one of the last times I will pick Nick up from this school! He has been in middle school for three years now and will move on to High School next year. I love capturing these kids right now, in the moment, as they are today.
I love this journaling card so much! Using washi tape to create lines is one of my favorite things to do, and the confetti on the side is just happiness. The hello on the geometric card is from Dear Lizzy Stay Colorful.
One last photo of the toy from the Kinder egg. They are so cute, have you seen them? The eggs have chocolate in them and then a fun little toy that is something for little hands to keep busy, figure out, do something with. They are so cute! The Stories of Home card is also from February’s The Heart Is Home kit.
Hi everyone! Today I am sharing this lovely layout from my 2017 Project Life album for Week 35. I am using the Sahlin Studio Monthly calendar cards and the Like A Boss kit. Have a look at my entire process here.
Our stories for this particular week included a heavy travel week for Alan, so preparations for that, taking care of the kids via solo parenting for me, and some awesome photos that Alan took while he was in Texas!
I am loving the beautiful colors on the Monthly calendar cards from Sahlin Studio! In our creative world it can be difficult sometimes to choose a kit or product to use in our layouts, but I’ve used this calendar card as a jumping off point for the whole layout. I looked in the Sahlin Studio shop to see what other collections feature this color, and Like A Boss was an immediate winner! Yay for easy decision-making!
I’ve printed only the journaling cards I needed to complete my layout, and my formula for selecting those is also pretty straightforward: print your favorites. Print the ones you LOVE. I was listening to another scrapbooker a few days ago who repeated this sentiment. Instead of saving the ones you love, go ahead and USE the ones you love. You’ll be so glad you did!
I’ve added just a few tiny embellishments to some of the cards, the leaves here are from Felicity Jane, as is the rubber Home Sweet Home piece. The wood 2017 veneer is from a Gossamer Blue kit several years back.
I have also used a few tiny embellishments from Freckled Fawn. I have to tell you guys, the embellishment kits are always near my desk and I reach for them on almost every layout I make! Here the labels, the chipboard word sticker, and the washi tape add simple touches.
For the second page I’ve included a photo of the kids while we were having dinner. The story is about Addison trying to tell us all about some things that they were going over in class, but it was pretty far over my head so I know it was over the others’ heads too! He forgets he is the oldest (and no doubt the smartest too!). But I am in awe of him, even when I have to remind him that what happens in his classes needs to stay in his classes, and how bright he is. He has a very acute memory!
Since I had most of my journaling complete, and the title card done, this 4×6 card with the fun squares becomes a filler card and just a place to have fun. So I added just the tiniest embellishments that would fit inside those squares! They of course repeat the colors and textures across the page and give an awesome opportunity to use them up!
What a fun layout, thank you for following along today! See you again soon!

Hello lovelies! Today Creative Team member Hannah Lemieux is on the blog with her 2018 Project Life album. You can learn more about Hannah and follow her on all her social media here: Hannah Lemieux.
Aloha! It’s Hannah with you today!! I am just loving playing with the Larkindesign January release called Out With The Old. I’ve used many of the digital pieces in multiple ways. Be sure to follow me on Instagram and Youtube to see all the projects I make with Theresa’s designs. Today I want to share with you my Project life set for 2018.
I started off with an intro page. I used pictures I took in December. I decided to just picture my kids because they are the ones who are mainly in our Project Life. I really love Project Life because this is the best way for our family to see the change over the years. As a military family each year can look so different. Definitely on years where we move and changes physical locations. Seeing these changes through a yearly album is really cool. I really hope that my kids can use our Project Life album to remember and see how their lives were like in every new experience they have.
I really think for me using a collection like the one Theresa designed helps me keep a look throughout the pages that makes me happy. It really helps me document Project life much quicker. I love to document our lives in many different forms so I really don’t like to take too much extra thought into Project Life. I really loved using the January Larkindesign collection Out With The Old. The colors are different for the new year and I loved the cards. They matched really well with the Ali Edwards’ Story Kits I have and used in my pages.
I love layering bits and pieces from my stash on my pages. I stayed close to the color palette in the January collection and found a few products that I knew matched the color and tone as the Out with the Old collection. I really wanted this starting fresh and the moving forward feeling you have when you start a new year. I knew when I close the cards from the January collection that I needed cards that reflected that tone.
I knew that making my January Project Life pages beforehand I needed to be thoughtful and follow through with a theme. This new beginnings and moving forward would really motivated me to start fresh and new in Project Life. It really is something I struggle with as the year gets busy. I know that January is a time when I can start fresh again and I wanted my January pages to reflect that. I hope you scrapbookers know that no matter what your old albums look like you can always start from this time forward to try to change the way you document to make it successful for you and your lifestyle. If that means changing from a weekly to a monthly spread, do it. I love this community and this hobby because there really are no rules and you get to decide how you want to document your life. You get to choose the perspective in which you share.
I used many of the same elements throughout the month of January. I am using lots of acrylic stars from Color Cast and lots of words strips from the Bohemian Dreams collection from Cocoa Vanilla Studio. I also used lots of pieces from past Ali Edwards Story Kits.
This year I am switching to weekly Project Life, before I was doing it monthly. I found though I was still using a ton of pictures. I am hoping by doing it weekly I can count my pictures done a bit but always be a bit more organized with my pictures. I know I still want to do lots of journaling, so if you look at my spread I have left lots of room for pictures and journaling. The weekly cards in the Larkindesign 2018 Calendar Cards kit are perfect here.
To this page I added a few touches like some stitching to the week card. I also added branding strip from Dear Lizzy to the striped 4×6 card, I loved how the colors played off of each other. On one of the Ali Edward Story Kit cards I layered a few stickers and die cuts with Color Cast stars. I added some word strips to the New Year Card from the Out with the Old Collection. This 3×4 card is perfect for a filler card in my page.
On page Two of week One I counted to use similar elements as the previous page like the Color Cast Stars, the colors matched so well with the January Collection. I also used a similar rubber charm banner as I did on the intro page. I decided to use another branding strip but added it across the the two bottom 4×6 cards.
I really love how this yellow branding strip brings your eye across the whole bottom of the page. I also love how it brings out the yellow from the speech bubble 3×4 card in the Out with the Old collection. I added chipboard numbers in the bubbles so I an add some facts about our week.
For this top right card I cut the top and bottom cluster flowers from the whole card. I then tucked a 3×4 card from Ali Edwards’ Story Kit into the flower clusters. I made sure to lay some of the flowers on top of the 3×4 striped yellow card. This pattern will allow me to journal on.
On the top cluster I layered some thread, a Wilna I heart Studio cut file with some chipboard and die cuts and a Color Cast star. I love using smaller pieces that work together to draw interest.
I also mirrored the types of embellishments and die cuts on the bottom as I did on the top. I had the worded element be in a circle die cut and I used a gold Maggie Holmes bow over the gold thread. Under all the thread and chipboard I added a purple banner. I love the way it brings out the purple tones in the flowers.
Here is a full look at my page two of week one. I love how it all blends together and I can’t wait to add all my week’s pictures to it and add all the stories from our week.
Be sure to keep an eye out for my process video on my Youtube Channel. You can see me putting together this whole spread.
Also Look out for the rest of my January spread where I will be doing more of the January Out with the Old Collection for the other three weeks. I am using sharing many other projects on my Youtube Channel using this January collection in other forms as well. I can’t wait to see you stop by and be inspired. Also you can check out my About Me page to follow me on all your favorite social media platforms.
Until next time I hope you are inspired to try out Theresa’s collection and don’t forget that In My Pocket Class Volume 2 will be resuming soon. Get your spot in her class, you won’t be disappointed at all. I took her first volume and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.
Hi lovelies, today I am sharing the Introduction Layout in my 2017 Album B. I chose to use the Studio Calico Gypsy Moon Documenter kit and there may also be pieces from the Scrapbook kit as well. Studio Calico very generously sent me the scrapbook kit several months ago and I have so much enjoyed using it and sharing those layouts with you!
I think I have reached for this kit several times and love each layout! For the opening layout in this album I chose two fall photos – one serious and one quite silly – and the fall feel of the kit fit perfectly.
The title card is so very simple, just the actual title, a word strip, and a few leaves. I also placed a few very deliberate paint splatters, just to tie all the separate elements together.
For my introduction layouts I like including our family initial and here it is found on our silly photo, just the tiniest M along with a little cluster. I love this so much!
I wanted to repeat those fabulous leaves so I layered them along with the phrase die cut and a fun cork arrow for the filler card. I’ve also repeated arrows around the page as well. Notice how I used one card that has all the colors of the layout, two neutral cards, and then other cards that pull out colors from the title card. This is a simple, repeatable formula for cohesive layouts!
For the main photo I punched one of the word elements that was part of a journaling card in the kit. I’ve used one of the We R Memory Keepers tab punches and layered it with another cork arrow.
If you want to see more of my 2017 album and learn more about my approach to the album, I invite you to join me in the In My Pocket Memory Keeping Volume 2 classroom. Pre-orders will be starting soon and you can add your name to the list to be notified below!
