For the month of September I will be finishing up my 2018 Project Life album and will be sharing that with you here. I seriously have two layouts left in that album, if my memory serves me correctly, isn’t that hilarious?! I can only laugh and then commit to getting that done. I am so happy to have you along on the journey, see you soon!
Here is a look at my full layout for this week. Our stories included seeing Addison and Emberlynn off to Florida for a few weeks, a fun game of Putt-Putt, and getting nails and toes done.
For the right hand side I have lots of journaling and a few really fun, sunny photos. The bright photos inspired me to use the Shine Bright kit so my colors are turquoise with happy pops of yellow!
I love this photo of Natalie and myself sticking our tongues out and just overall being silly. I have added a few tiny embellishments from Freckled Fawn. Notice how I split the tag and used it to embellish a journal card above.
Addison and Emberlynn visit their relatives in Florida for the summer, so I had to capture one more photo before they left. These photos in front of the front door are so iconic and capture their growth throughout the year!
The right hand side of the layout begins with the date card for the week, which is from the Sahlin Studio Week cards. And yes, there is a second, more silly photo of the kids on the front porch!
The Snapshots photo templates are a great way to tie these two photos together. I added two tiny enamel hearts as well.
I had less journaling on this side, so I have used a few filler cards with just a couple of tiny embellishments added. The word strips below are digital elements in the Shine Bright kit that were printed and cut.
Thank you for joining me today! See you again soon!

This is my completed layout. Our stories for this week included a travel week for Alan and mostly working in the yard a bit more, prepping for summer. I also shared a few photos from my brief but totally awesome visit to Heather’s Crafty Retreat in Raleigh, where I got to meet the most amazing ladies in our community!
Check out the left hand side.
For my date card, I wanted to use this amazing colorful card. I love color but it presents a challenge for making titles pop. Black and white are always a good choice for text, and these chipboard alphas from Felicity Jane pop wonderfully! I did add a tiny bit more color with the rubber floral embellishment, only I placed it over the purples on the card so it would pop as well.
We had a beautiful lunch where we were able to sit outside, and I included a few photos from that. It gets hot and humid really quickly in NC, so it’s nice to have a few days to enjoy the weather. I also have been using patterned cards lately for journaling. This one had just enough pattern that it is visually interesting, but subtle enough that you can read the text. Love that!
I cannot say enough about how awesome it was to visit with scrapbookers from our community in person at Heather’s retreat! I wanted to be sure and include names where I could, so I can remember. The ladies were so incredibly welcoming! It was definitely good for the soul. (photo courtesy of Kathy McElfresh)
I knew when I printed my photos that I was going to want to add lots of journaling, so I printed two photos on 3×4. They look a bit like Polaroids, and I had a ton of fun embellishing them.
Let’s look at the right side.
I had the best visitor in my studio: Natalie was cleaning her room and had rounded up all her headbands. She laughed and skipped down to show me all of her headbands stacked on top of her head! I love the whimsy and I love that the Little Moments collection has a bit of whimsy as well! Life is way too short to be serious all the time!
When writing your journaling, look for opportunities to do it differently! I used these wavy lines as journaling lines and love how it looks. Also, notice how I used one embellishment, the teal hearts, as a unifying element across the page. They are from Studio Calico.
This was also a fun way to journal, diagonally across the bottom half of the card! Embellishing was very simple, just a chipboard piece and a bit of stamping across the bottom.
Yes, more kissing on the front porch and I am absolutely including these photos at every opportunity. Alan had a trip that week, and I so very much appreciate that we miss each other every time! That never seems to fade and yet I want to always remember it. Another journaling opportunity on the circle card – again, just using a subtle background. I also added a chipboard circle, just for a bit of dimension on the card.
Thank you for joining me today! See you again soon!
Hello lovelies, today I am sharing Part B from my layout for Week 14 in my 2018 Project Life album. I started this layout last week and split it into two parts since it has an insert. This is a hybrid Project Life layout, and I am continuing to use The Lilypad Wander collection from the June Memory Pockets Monthly kit. If you would like to see all the layouts I have published in this album, you may follow this link here. Have a look at my layout!
Here is a look at the first part of this layout, which included our Easter photos. You will find more information about this layout and the process video here.
I absolutely love scrapbooking travel photos, and this trip had so many really good photo opportunities. Choosing the photos I wanted to include was a bit of a challenge, but I always ask myself what are the photos that convey the stories I want to tell about myself and my family? The answer for me has always come back to relationships, so I look for the photos that show the ways we share relationships with each other. Our trip to Savannah was short, but the highlights were definitely going to the beach and visiting the Children’s Museum.
I currently have all of my recent collections from Crate Paper on my desk as I am working on the Bermuda album, so I have pulled from those collections to add my embellishments for this layout.
This photo of our boys tells an awesome story for me. I know that, at ages 13 and 14, they are outgrown the children’s areas and activities that we did for so many years. But they enjoyed walking around this museum and played with some of the life-size games and had such a good time. This is a favorite photo because they are such awesome friends, these two, and I also love the perspective of seeing how tall they are getting now, and how grown up.
I left my photos mostly untouched, allowing them to tell the stories in their own right. I am just here to tell you that with the kids getting so big, Alan and I are definitely outnumbered and we may need some help over here with these teenagers!
Just a few thoughts about my color choices on this layout: The photos themselves had a lot of greens, blues, and reds (coral), so I have pulled those colors from the Wander collection. The pink/coral/red contrasts beautifully with the blues and happen to be my favorites. It was really easy to use this collection and I am loving how it works!
I have done a lot with circles on this layout, and then for my journal card I broke that tradition by writing my journaling around the edges of the card.
I filmed my process for this layout, which you can view here as well.
These are definitely two favorite layouts and I am so glad to have this trip documented in a really simple, quick and beautiful way! Thank you for joining me today!
Hi everyone, today I am sharing my 2018 Project Life layout for Week 10! I am so excited to use my brand new collection called Sweet Chicks, which is available in the shop right now. I designed this collection with all things sweet in mind – sweet chicks, sweet love, sweet popsicles!
Let’s take a look at this bright, fun layout!
Our stories this week included a fun dinner at Sonic where all the kids got completely hyped up on milkshakes, a check-up at the hospital for Addison, date night, the announcement for Clique Kits, and me learning how to use my curling wand.
I began the layout with the date card, because it is always a predictable place to dive right in. I’ve used these die cut numbers from Studio Calico to notate the week, and the Pink Paislee alphabet stamps from Pick Me Up for the dates. Very simple and quick!
I had these little popsicles from Elle’s Studio and this was the perfect layout to use them on! The colors in my Sweet Chicks collection are happy – yellows, oranges, teals, and pinks dance together and I just adore it.
We had a date night, which has been a pretty regular occurrence lately, and always makes me so happy!
I had the wood veneer floral from Studio Calico that was used on the back side of this layout, so for this side I simply layered a chipboard embellishment on top of the page protector. I love the texture it adds! I also made a point to include myself in this week’s layout. I have been learning how to use my curling wand (ha!) and took these quick snaps while waiting in the car line one day.
For the right hand side I had three photos and the fourth 4×6 pocket is perfect for more journaling. I’ve balanced the bright colors with the black and white in the collection here and just love it!
Addison had a health check-up at the hospital this week, so as we were walking from the parking deck I grabbed this snapshot of one of the towers. The sky was beautiful that day! This is a great way to capture these things where you don’t want to invade your teenager’s privacy but still want to document the event.
I am absolutely in love with these two cards from the collection! The Love card is also a patterned paper and that will go with anything! And the Say Yes card just makes me insanely happy! So fun!
More black and white in the collection, with this Wonky Squares pattern! That was so much fun to design and I’ve added simple dotted lines to journal and a few tiny embellishments.
I’ve repeated the alphabet stamp here, this time using black ink. This card is perfect for a sentiment, journaling, or embellishing. You pick! I also love this photo: we were at World Market and I looked down at this mirrored coffee table. Definitely a fun perspective!
Thank you for joining me today! Have you picked up this new collection yet? Let me know what you create with it, be sure to use #larkindesigntm!
