Scrappy Christmas In July | December Daily 2018 Days 23, 24, and 25!!!

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 23, 24, and 25!!!

Hello Lovelies and welcome back to #scrappychristmasinjuly! Today I am sharing my process for the last few days in my December Daily album! If you’d like to see the entire series I invite you to check out this link: Larkindesign December Daily 2018. Here is my full process video for these pages in my album.

The days leading up to Christmas are so very special and getting these pages completed in the album is a bittersweet and happy moment! The days tend to run together, and I wanted that sort of feel in the album as well, so these pages will feel different in a way. Let’s start with Day 23.

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 23, 24, and 25!!!

We celebrated Christmas Day a day early this year due to custody and so our Christmas Eve was on this day. We have the kids bring all the gifts down stairs and we make it a really big deal. Of course they are all so excited and anxious and happy, and it’s so much fun to gather all the gifts under the tree! I captured a few special photos here and then added two journal cards from Paislee Press.

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 23, 24, and 25!!!

One of the cards was bold red, so for my lines on my journal card I used red ink, just to add a bit of color and repeat that color once again. It’s a tiny detail that adds a little pop!

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 23, 24, and 25!!!

I added a vellum in between these two pages, one from an older Dear Lizzy collection from years ago. In the video I debated adding the number onto the vellum, and in the end chose to place those onto the photo underneath instead.

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 23, 24, and 25!!!

My photo underneath the vellum is the star of the show: the Christmas tree. I found the long green chipboard strip in my stash and added the acrylic word on top, and the chipboard number underneath.

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 23, 24, and 25!!!

When you turn the page, Day 24 begins. I did not add a number on this layout, and I am cool with that. I have photos of the kids underneath the Christmas tree, two photos of the boys opening presents, and a 6×8 of the presents under the tree.

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 23, 24, and 25!!!

For these pages I chose a few products from the Sahlin Studio Home For the Holidays collection. You can find that collection over at The Lilypad via the link here: Home For The Holidays. For the large photo I added a journal spot and layered word art plus a wooden button for simple and fun embellishments.

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 23, 24, and 25!!!

To allow the photos to shine, and in the interest of getting it done, I kept the embellishing to a minimum on these pages. I added a simple gold word strip and a few red puffy hearts below and left the other photos untouched.

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 23, 24, and 25!!! Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 23, 24, and 25!!!

Turning to the next page, I had more photos from unwrapping presents. I printed one photo of each kid opening gifts, and then two photos of the scene as well. I kept the journal cards very simple in black and white.

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 23, 24, and 25!!!

I added the Be Merry puffy sticker, from Paislee Press.

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 23, 24, and 25!!!

The Merry & Bright card was perfect to write a few thoughts down, with hand drawn lines, and then I added a cork tree at the top. That tree is from the Ali Edwards Main Kit 2018.

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 23, 24, and 25!!!

I had a little tree shaped clip in my stash, so I added that plus a little word strip at the top of the photo of me and Natalie.

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 23, 24, and 25!!!

The Merry card is so fun and random, and I added a few little red stars also in a random pattern. They were from Studio Calico a few years ago.

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 23, 24, and 25!!!

Turning the page again is more from Day 24 and 25. I am still continuing to use journal cards from Home For The Holidays here. My photos are from our Christmas breakfast, which is always a big feast!

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 23, 24, and 25!!!

The 4×6 card is a great home for my journaling here, and I added a tiny black word strip to it as well. I also added a chipboard sticker at the bottom of the photo.

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 23, 24, and 25!!!

Don’t you love when you have a favorite card, AND you have the perfect opportunity to use it? The Eat, Drink & Be Merry card is the best!

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 23, 24, and 25!!!

We are now at the closing page of the album, and I chose this black and white buffalo check from Crate Paper to close it out. I added the gold puffy stickers to say Merry & Bright, and that is all until next year!

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 23, 24, and 25!!!

Thank you all so much for following along with me on this journey! These albums are my absolute favorite albums every year and finishing them is a big deal! Yay! I hope you are inspired in your own December Daily journeys, and I am excited to jump back in again in November this year. See you tomorrow for the final walk through video!

Scrappy Christmas In July | December Daily 2018 Days 21 and 22!!!!

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 21 and 22!!!!

Hello Lovelies and welcome back to #scrappychristmasinjuly! Today I am sharing more of my 2018 December Daily for Days 21 and 22. This project is winding down and I am so happy at how smoothly the process has gone. I hope you are inspired to create in your own albums as well! If you’d like to see the entire project you can check it out here: Larkindesign December Daily 2018.

Days 21 and 22 once again share a two page spread, which makes it easier to make product and design decisions across the layout. I am working with Pinkfresh Studio today, mostly from the Holiday Vibes collection. There were blues and reds in my photos and the product choices flow beautifully!

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 21 and 22!!!!

Day 21 begins with a photo of our presents all wrapped and stacked up in our bedroom closet. We shop throughout the month of December and wrap as we go along, and then on Christmas Eve we have the kids carry all the gifts down stairs. I wanted to take this photo and include it in the album as a show of incredible gratitude for these amazing gifts. Years ago after my divorce, I had only $80 one year to spend on Christmas for Nick and Natalie, and now to have grown and moved beyond that, to have faced all the obstacles and to be so incredibly privileged is humbling for me. In my pocket above the photo I added a patterned paper cut to 4×6 and then layered a label from a cut apart sheet plus the die cut on top. The stamped sentiment is from Kaiser Craft.

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 21 and 22!!!!

To divide the two days in this spread I added a polka dot transparency, which I believe is from Fancy Pants. I chose number from Sahlin Studio and added one to each side in black and white, as contrast to the red polka dot. You can find those digital numbers at The Lilypad via the link here: Sahlin Studio December Days No. 02.

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 21 and 22!!!!

Of course, when you turn the transparency, you find the 22 and the layout for this day. I have been living gluten free for almost two years now, and for Christmas we wanted to try some gluten free chocolate crepes! They turned out amazing! I cropped my photo to fit vertically into two 3×4 pockets, which left two other 3×4 pockets to fill.

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 21 and 22!!!!

I chose a journal card from Pinkfresh and layered a little blue birdie, then I stamped some journaling lines and added my words. I cut another piece of patterned paper to go in the pocket beneath, and then layered two circles, a red circle and the gold and white North Pole die cut.

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 21 and 22!!!!

I also added the floral medallion to the top of my photo, just for a bit of embellishment at the top.

Scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 10 and 11!!!!

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 10 and 11!!!!

Hello Lovelies and welcome back #scrappychristmasinjuly!!!!! I am so excited to be back working on my December Daily 2018 album and thank you all so much for following along with me! If you would like to see the entire 2018 December Daily series check it all out here: Larkindesign December Daily 2018. Today I have a full process video for you from my December Daily album for Days 10 and 11. Have a look!

So I mentioned in my video that my album had not arrived yet, but it did arrive in time for me to take photos for the blog! Woohoo! So let’s have a closer look at these layouts. I am using the Simple Stories SNAP! album with red binding, in 6×8. I think I will probably just stick with these albums in the future so they will all look beautiful lined up on the shelf together and this format is simply the best!

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 10 and 11!!!!

When you open my album you will find a simple beaded tassel and the tab cover from the Ali Edwards December Daily box as a cover sheet. I punched the holes in the tab cover using my We R Memory Keepers Planner Punch Board and have left it on these settings so it is easy to use while I am working on this project. It’s so fun to incorporate packaging from our special boxes we receive each year, isn’t it?!

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 10 and 11!!!!

I also added a Ali Edwards star transparency to the binder, which has a blue wreath and a red star attached to it. I love the see-through look inviting the reader to see what goodness lies within. In the process video I chatted a little about how all the things line up (or don’t!) between the transparency and the number + journaling underneath, and you can see how they don’t line up. And probably if I didn’t point it out you might not even notice! I am totally ok with that, it is just how things end up and it gives it charm, right?!

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 10 and 11!!!!

When you turn the transparency you find the photo for Day 10, which is of our girls hanging out at the dining room table. This is their spot many days because there is a power source there, and it always makes me happy to see them hanging out and having a good time together! I added the number from Ali Edwards and adhered an embroidered star inside the zero. The embroidered star is Felicity Jane. I then also stamped journaling lines using line stamps from Paislee Press. The journaling was added using a simple Sharpie marker, following the lines of the table in the photo. I love these simple details so much.

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 10 and 11!!!!

Notice how not only are the embellishments imperfect, but the journaling and the lines in my journaling are imperfect as well. I point this out because my hope is that you will be inspired to embrace the imperfections in your own albums, if you feel they are there, as part and parcel of creativity! Your layouts, as this layout, are beautiful just as they are.

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 10 and 11!!!!

For Day 10 I had a full size photo of Emberlynn decorating the tree, and Alan showing me one of our favorite ornaments. I am using a page protector that is divided into (2) 3×4 and (1) 4×6 pocket here, and love how this turned out.

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 10 and 11!!!!

The full photo doesn’t need much. There is a lot you could do to this photo, but I simply added a bit of washi tape and the chipboard circle. I look at this photo now and I am wishing we were back in December now! This invokes for me the classic feeling of Christmas and this is one of the biggest reasons I participate in this project.

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 10 and 11!!!!

For the 3×4 pockets I began with the 11 tag, which is from an older Ali Edwards December Daily kit. I trimmed it down a bit to fit into the pocket, and added a tag punch plus a bit of silver trim. I stamped the Oh What Fun! from Paislee Press onto the tiniest red tag, which is from Pretty Little Studio. That is layered on top of that thin silver washi tape. This tag, along with the silver, red, black, and white colors, became the jumping off point for this layout.

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 10 and 11!!!!

For the second 3×4 tag I layered two different cards on top of each other. I used the lined card (Pinkfresh Studio) as the base, and then punched the Merry Happy Everything from an Ali Edwards card at the top. The circle punch was just a bit smaller than I needed, but I used it anyway. You will notice I adhered that half circle a bit lower and added another strip of washi tape on top. The rubber heart circle is from Felicity Jane and adds another touch of black to the card.

Larkindesign #scrappychristmasinjuly | December Daily 2018 Days 10 and 11!!!!

You can see I added a little grey star to the photo of Alan, and these two days are in the books! {scrappyChristmasinJuly} December DailyISH 2011 Pt 04 | Layouts 1 & 2!!!

Hi guys! Happy Scrappy Christmas in July!!!! Join scrappylikeafox Tracey Fox and a bunch of us at the ScrapGals Facebook community to work on some Christmas projects this month!!!!

Today I am sharing the first two layouts in my 2011 DecemberISH album. I am using a combination of products today, including Maggie Holmes patterned papers, Ali Edwards stamps and embellishments, and Paige Evans Oh My Heart!

For today I have two layouts in the album. I am not sure if I am going to number these somehow? I am thinking about adding number tags maybe just to number the stories themselves? Leave me a comment and tell me what you think.

Larkindesign {scrappyChristmasinJuly} December DailyISH 2011 Pt 04 | Layouts 1 %26 2!!!

For the first layout in the album I had this photo from our very first date! Even though this was back in September of 2011, I thought it was a great memory to add and it particularly significant because this is our first Christmas together.

Larkindesign {scrappyChristmasinJuly} December DailyISH 2011 Pt 04 | Layouts 1 %26 2!!!

I had the back of the chipboard tab to work with and that was the perfect place for the journaling on this layout. I am absolutely loving the messy gesso on the kraft with black ink! I added just a tiny bit of color at the bottom with the patterned paper strip (that is from My Mind’s Eye).

Larkindesign {scrappyChristmasinJuly} December DailyISH 2011 Pt 04 | Layouts 1 %26 2!!!

Our children have been an important part of our relationship since the very beginning, and I love that they will make lots of appearances throughout this album! For this layout I had an adorable photo of Natalie that I snapped one day while picking her and her brother up. She is literally only as tall as the fire hydrant here, but look how cheeky her expression is!

Larkindesign {scrappyChristmasinJuly} December DailyISH 2011 Pt 04 | Layouts 1 %26 2!!!

This patterned paper from Oh My Heart! already had lovely brush strokes of color so no mixed media was added. Only journaling, a few stamps, and the star clusters. I am working to include stitching in this album, as well, and this time I ran the zig-zag stitch forward and backwards through the machine. In some places it *almost* looks like cross-stitching. Ha!

Larkindesign {scrappyChristmasinJuly} December DailyISH 2011 Pt 04 | Layouts 1 %26 2!!!

The right hand side is not quite finished. The black floral ephemera is just floating in the pocket and when I finish the next side I plan to stitch that into place then. For the photo of Natalie I simply chose a few floral embellishments from Oh My Heart! and the Glee tab from the Ali Edwards CHEER story kit.

Larkindesign {scrappyChristmasinJuly} December DailyISH 2011 Pt 04 | Layouts 1 %26 2!!!

That is all for today! See you again soon!
