Bermuda Project Introduction!!!!

Hi guys, today I am beginning an entire new series and I cannot wait to share it with you!!!!! Alan and I went to Bermuda on our honeymoon four years ago, and it is time for me to get those photos scrapped!!!! So grab your tickets and let’s go!

When Alan and I got married in 2012, we decided directly after the wedding to head off to Bermuda for a couple of days. These are our stories from that trip.

I chose the Jasmine Jones 9×12 album from Studio Calico to house this project. The amazing florals speak tropics to me, and the size is perfect for the 150-199 photos I plan to include.

I added a few charms to the side, much like planners add to their books!

My plan is to use several different types of page protectors. The album itself came with a variety of protectors, including this standard 4×6 shown above. This is my introduction page in its planning stages, using some cards from the February Documenter kit Confidant.

Because I have some vertical photos, I am also including these page protectors that have been cut down from 12×12. They measure 8×12, and this adds some visual interest as you turn pages in the album!

I also cut down a few Becky Higgins 12×12 Design A page protectors and sealed the edges on the sides. Mainly I did this because I was worried I would not have enough of the Studio Calico protectors, and also again to have some variety!

I am also looking forward to including some full 9×12 layouts as well, so have included those protectors as well. The photos I plan to use for those layouts are already in place and ready to go!

Thanks so much for joining me on this awesome journey! See you again soon!

Project Life 2017 Week 06 | Embellishing the Layout Using Studio Calico Confidant Kit!!!!

Hi guys! Today I am finishing up the hybrid portion of my layout for Week 06 in my 2017 Project Life album! This is my first time working with the Studio Calico Documenter kits – this one is Confidant from February.

Yesterday I shared with you the digital portion of creating my layout in Photoshop, and today the layout has been printed here at home on my wide format Canon Pixma. The digital layout was created in Photoshop CC using Pocket Guide templates from Paislee Press and the March ROAR MPM kit, both from The Lilypad. Now I am ready to embellish and finish it up!

Larkindesign Project Life 2017 Week 06 | Embellishing the Layout Using Studio Calico Confidant Kit!!!!

Most of this week’s story revolved around me being sick with the flu – I was sick in total about 10 days. But you know how we moms do – we struggle to put ourselves to bed and so we continue going along, pushing through. There are photos from half of the week as I pushed through, and then I came to a complete stop to finally rest and recover.

I began the layout with the date card and couldn’t wait to use this rubber February word! Notice too how I layered the puffy sticker over the two patterned paper rectangles to tie them together. They now read as one card together. How fun!

I really liked using the hexagon stickers that were included in the Confidant kit. Those add a nice touch of color and simple embellishment!

For the right hand side I included my list journaling of all our tasks that week. Yes, the numbering is actually designed to notate the dates of the month, but I left them just as they are for whimsy. I can also say that those days I was sick felt like a whole month!

I am so thankful that life is so filled with all sorts of joy amidst the sickness and struggle. These Project Life layouts absolutely remind me of that weekly, the hard with the good, the happy with the bad. Finding Natalie’s stuffies all lined up on her headboard made us smile so much!

So when you’re sick as a dog, what do you take photos of? Simple, just what is in front of you. Tomato soup, the kids laughing at the dinner table, Alan ever at my side. All reminders that I am taken care of, and all the things I am so very grateful for.

Thank you so much for following along today! I hope this layout has been inspiring for you! See you soon!

Art Journal Vol 03 Layout 02 | Past

Hi there and happy Monday! I have to admit I ran out of week last week and was not able to post on Thursday or Friday! Sad face! But there is never enough time in the day to get everything done I want to get done, so I decided to move forward and see if I could get a full week published this week. Have a look at my Art Journal process today:

I am exploring more with the idea of cracks in the surface, although I did not reflect on this layout in my video today. The poem I was working with is written by Pablo Neruda, and in it he speaks of waves of water.

Art Journal 03 Layout 2 | Past

Lately I have been feeling waves of emotions come over me, sometimes happy and sometimes overwhelming sadness. Nothing that is unexpected, but nonetheless it is there. I wanted to create an ocean on my page, so I reached for this bubble stencil from Studio Calico and my texture cream from Art C.

Art Journal 03 Layout 02 | Past

I laid down some patterned papers that I had torn into strips, and also pieces of a map. The map, our location, collides with the ocean and sand.

The stencil created a lovely cascade of bubbles, sort of like the wild ocean when it meets the sand and it foams. The texture cream swirls around it like sand in between our toes when the tide returns.

For color I used a combination of blues, greens, and black. The colors spread across the page adding depth and dimension. What is left when the tide returns is all this lovely swirling color and texture, the depth and width and breadth of life.

Art Journal 03 Layout 02 | Past

I am in process of closing a chapter in my life. A chapter filled with swirling realities that no longer are, nor need to be.

Art Journal 03 Layout 02 | Past

The present chapter is wrapping up, the ocean has touched the sand and crashed upon its shores. The tide of emotions passing, sometimes returning because that is what oceans do, but what happens to the sand is fresh and new.
