Hi guys!!!! Remember my traveler’s notebook? Yeah, I remember it too and I am still committed to completing it, so today I have two layouts to show you! Have a look at my process here:
So in these layouts I wanted to be sure to document our experience going to visit the Gibbes Museum of Art. It was important to me on this trip to participate in the Charleston art community and to gather visual inspiration for my creative spirit.
I pulled out my July Gossamer Blue kits, namely the Main scrapbooking kit and the Life Pages kit. I wanted to use the Simple Stories Sunshine and Happiness products and Fancy Pants Life is Beautiful for these bright and happy photos.
I layered my photo collage on top of the patterned paper and then added embellishments and stamps around the photo.
This side of the layout was mostly completed while we were on our trip. I had already done the journaling and added some of the ephemera, so all was left to do was to add a stamped sentiment and the clouds.
Turning the page and we are at the museum itself. Again I created photo collages and used those as the base for the page design.
I layered the left hand side on top of a kraft bag so I could include some of the paper ephemera we got at the museum.
Inside the museum was this fun little architectural alcove with the bench and really pretty windows, so my husband and I took a few photos of each other on that bench. That was a lot of fun!
The ephemera in this kit are so much fun to work with. I tried not to overthink things, just use the ones I like and that make me happy.
I already had used a piece of this paper fan they gave us at the door, and here again I added a piece of it as the base for my journaling. On this side I only added a simple chipboard piece and the washi tape to hold it in place.
Turn the paper fan and you will find my photo collage from various elements of the museum displays themselves. Always check the museum’s photography policy before you go: in the case of Gibbes, they encourage photography and even had a hashtag you are welcome to use! Many museums forbid photography, however, so be aware of that.
I really tried to keep this layout simple because I wanted the emphasis to be on the photo collage itself. On the back of the paper fan I wrote my journaling, which is written on one of the journaling cards from the Life Pages kit.
On the right hand side just a layer of patterned paper, another little corner of the paper fan, and a puffy sticker!
Ok, I hope you really liked these two layouts! They were a ton of fun to make and I totally need to keep going on this so I can get it done. See you on Monday!
