Hi there, I have two days to share with you today from my December Daily album for 2016. The days seem to be running together and flying by faster and faster, the closer we get to Christmas. I love it, and I love the energy, and I love carving out time in the hustle to still keep these memories. It gets challenging here in the last week, and for me it is important to keep doing something, even when a day gets missed! Today I have a layout with no photos, so check out my process video to see how I dealt with that here:
Today’s layouts are from December 14 and 15, and this is the layout in the foundation stage:
This is my completed spread for these two days:
Let’s look at each day in closer detail. For December 14 I had no photos. This week has been a blur of shopping, baking, working, wrapping, herding children, and working more. And some days just go by too quickly to snap a photo! I decided to use this day as an opportunity to include the kids’ wish lists. Eventually some of the other receipts will be added, and for now it is just one receipt.
For my top pocket I had chosen one of the Paislee Press journal cards from that mini kit, available at Ali Edwards’ website. I wrote just a few lines of journaling on the right side of the card, and tucked the lists on the left hand side.
For my number card I added the silver and gold transparent card that is from Fancy Pants Golden Days ephemera pack. That card impacted the number 13 on the back as well, so I kept the back in mind as I made my decisions about this pocket. I love using transparent elements and have done that throughout this album!
The pocket with the receipt has no photo or journal card. I think at this stage in the game, and with the crazy business of the season, we can and should give ourselves permission not to overthink of over-complicate this project. I did create a title card using the deer pattern paper from the Ali Edwards main kit from 2015, and cork alphas from Freckled Fawn.
For December 15 I wanted to document our gifts and wrapping paper this year. My photo is of Alan holding a few of our packages while we were wrapping them. This is always a favorite layout every year!
My original plan was to place the photo in the top pocket with journal card on the bottom, but I reversed that and placed a title card in the top pocket. I chose the tree pattern from the Ali Edwards main kit because it ties in all the colors on both days, including the greens and the reds in the wrapping papers. The title was created using the puffy alpha stickers from Ali’s website, and one of the stamps from Ali’s stamp set.
I absolutely love the branch elements that were part of the Paislee Press kit. My journaling on this card simply talks about the craziness of planning, purchasing, and wrapping so many presents and I would not have it any other way! I probably stress way too much about the presents that we give to our children every year, but oh I want them to enjoy our Christmases so much. The wreath here is from Sahlin Studio Oh What Fun collection, printed on vellum and cut using the Silhouette.
The only photo on this spread is one of my favorites of the season – Alan carrying a stack of presents all wrapped and ready for their recipients. I love our wrapping paper choices this year, they all came from Target and add the prettiest pops of color! Yes!
