{December Daily 2016} December 23, 24 & 25! This Is It!!!

Hi and welcome to my final December Daily 2016 process! I am so excited to finish up this project, and just as in previous years, I am delighted with the end results. Have a look at my process for the last three days:

Beginning with December 23, this was my Foundation Page:

This is the completed layout. My story for today was about going to the movies. The girls went to see Sing and the boys saw Rogue One!

My photo was taken after the movies, when we took them all to eat dinner at McDonald’s. For us this was our Christmas Eve, so don’t let the laid back smiles fool you – they are excited and thrilled!

The middle pockets are almost the same as before – one pocket is sealed with sequins inside, and I attached the numbers to their card. They are from Teresa Collins a few years ago. I also added a stamped sentiment and one tiny sequin star, both from the Ali Edwards main kit.

I realized I needed space for journaling on this layout, so I changed out the journaling card here. The background paper is from an old Gossamer Blue kit from probably two years ago, and the grid I layered over it is the back of one of Ali Edwards’ cards in her main kit this year. I finally got to use this awesome red acrylic snowflake which was in the 2015 December Daily main kit, and I layered word stickers from Freckled Fawn on top.

Here is one more look at this layout inside the album:

For December 24th I had left the foundation pages fairly empty because I knew we would be opening gifts that day and I wanted to leave lots of room for photos. I ended up finalizing the last two days using Sahlin Studio Santa’s Workshop, here:

My layout for this day is a full 12×12 spread with a transparency in between.

On the left hand side of this layout I have one photo plus two filler pockets that I created using cards and elements from Sahlin Studio Santa’s Workshop. The glitter tape is Heidi Swapp and makes the whole page sparkle!

My photo is a simple snapshot of the kids in front of the tree. This is a tradition that I have continued for several years now and is a must-have for our December Daily album.

The transparency is from Ali Edwards and was one of the promotional give-aways that was sent to a certain number of people who pre-ordered in time, back in September. Even though it is 6×8, the holes lined up perfectly and allow for space at the bottom to add more photos.

Here you can see how it layers beautifully over the photo of the Christmas tree. The transparency itself has tiny white stars and I have layered sequin stars over top using a glue pen, just to add a little more sparkle to the page.

This is the back side of the transparency and the opposite side of this layout:

One of the things I always stress about working with transparencies is to not be overly stressed about the back. You can probably tell that the numbers are adhered with tiny glue dots, and it really is ok. I did add the Merry & Bright banner to hide the pop dots and the banner that is on the front.

For the right side of the layout I created a flip-up so I could include photos of us opening presents and also more journaling. The large tree photo is a great focal point of the layout, and I love that it lifts up to tell us more.

The template underneath is from Paislee Press and is available at The Lilypad, right here: Paislee Press Photocentric No. 01. (direct link, opens in new window) I simply adore the simplicity. There are 14 photos in all included on this layout!

Finally, we come to December 25. Here is the Foundation Page, created using Sahlin Studio Santa’s Workshop:

This is the left hand side, completed:

We had a very quiet day that day, since Nick and Natalie were back at their Dad’s and it was just the four of us here. We played with toys and watched movies and ate lots of food! My photos were all actually taken on the 24th, of the kids playing together and hanging out.

In the past I have always ended my December albums with the presents and all that, which actually makes for an abrupt ending. I love having space this year to include these photos and a few more thoughts to round out the whole book.

{December Daily 2016} December 23%2C 24 %26 25! This Is It!!!

My numbers 2 and 5 are from Ali Edwards and are layered on top of patterned paper from Sahlin Studio Santa’s Workshop. The glittered star is Freckled Fawn. Here a look at this layout in the album itself:

The opposite side of this layout is a really cute photo of the girls wearing their slippers they got under the tree.

The center pockets remained unchanged from the foundation pages. One journal card from Sahlin Studio with wood veneer stars layered on top from Studio Calico. One transparent card from Pinkfresh Studio and a cork tree from Freckled Fawn layered on top. So simple.

For my journaling I wrote about our quiet day and added one single word strip to the top, and this layout is complete.

The very last page in the album is on the back of the 25th. I chose a single photo of our tree taken with bokeh effect and a few word strips layered on top.

And just like that, December Daily Vol. 09 is complete! I will do a final walk-thru video in the next few days and then regular schedule and layouts will resume. I hope you have a very Happy New Year!

~Theresa
