Light The Path Art Journal Volume 04 | The Path Of Healing ft Pinkfresh Studio

Hello Lovelies and welcome back to my Art Journal With Me Series, a Wednesday art habit I am sharing with you to inspire you to do a bit of affirming, creative work. I am working in my fourth art journal right now, and today I am working with the brand new Noteworthy collection from Pinkfresh Studio. I was inspired by several of the elements of this collection, so follow along with my step out instructions below. If you want to see other layouts from my art journals, you can find those through the link here: Larkindesign Art Journals.

Start with prepped pages, for this layout I have adhered several layers of pages together with matte medium and then added gesso on top. I also added washi tape (Scotch brand) to the edges and center of my page, to keep watercolors and paints from bleeding through.

I then tore a few pieces of patterned paper and layered those on top, using a combination of matte medium and gesso. I use a really rough, inexpensive brush for this, so you get this lovely texture from the brush strokes. I also took wipes and took a bit of the gesso right back off, just to highlight some of the words on this patterned paper.

I found these mini stencils from Momenta and used the floral one to add a bit of modeling paste to the page. The texture of this kind of art draws me in every time! I love lifting the stencil and seeing the pattern take shape.

Then comes another favorite part: adding color to the florals on the page. I have used a basic acrylic paint from the Apple Barrel brand (Wal-Mart stores carry these). I add quite a bit of water to these so they will run across the page. I don’t really worry about it being perfect in any way! I just allow the color to flow and let go of any expected outcome. It will be beautiful no matter what!

Once all that was dry, I sort of forgot about red paint splatters and splattered this layout with red paint. It may slightly resemble a crime scene now (ha!) but I do still love it and I think once I add the embellishments and letters it will tone down a bit. That red was a bit bolder than I anticipated, but this is the wonderful thing about art journaling: none of it has to be perfect at all.

I added my title with the puffy alphabets from Noteworthy, and used the die cuts to make a little comfortable living scene at the bottom of my page. How fun and sweet! Thank you for joining me today, see you again soon!
